Room is clean and comfortable. Mini pantry is good even I don’t do much cooking, good for long stay. I am fine with Aldgate even some may not like the area. I love the location because it’s close to Bricklane and Shoreditch, it is walking distance to Tower Hill and London CBD. However, sound insulation is not good as i can hear people talking outside the room. Also my room are connecting room whereby i can hear the guest next room talking if they are standing near the connecting door which is quite annoying…

Overall a great hotel, would definitely stay again. The breakfast is rather limited in choice, wouldn’t book that again. Otherwise everything is great!

Booked the hotel during Christmas. Value for money, clean, good location, excellent service especially from the staff Robert. Offered us a huge help while we are in a rush.

The service was excellent, Nicholas welcomed us at the frint desk and was super kind and helpful! Really top-notch service from hjm, he made sure out trip and the entite experience was seamless and lovely. The apartment was ultra cozy and clean, with all the amenitiea you would need. We will definitely be back soon!

Location is good, real close to underground station. Room is clean and comes with a mini kitchen. One guy at the reception didnt look happy about his job, others were nice. However, I did notice that minorities were put in the rooms on the lower floors, at least didn’t see any non-minority on my floor (3rd) and every white I met in the lift were going to above 10th floor (could be people who booked the room with views are living higher tho). The worst experience was they put we in a twin room (we booked a normal double room) with someone else in the other half room, with just one thin door in between. We could even hear each other talking and we were knocked on the door and asked to be quiet because we were using hair dryer to dry hair for 5 mins at night (just past 12)🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Really good looking apartment with great sound insulation, kind and speedy staff who sorted any issues promptly. We were on floor 16 which was pretty perfect for new years fireworks!

Generally good experience but charges fir early check in or late checkout were a big turn off at 25 pounds per hour. Some additional perks would be great for those with longer stays. Staff attitude was inconsistent; location was great near a couple of tube stations and bus stops.

I’ve stayed in hundreds of 3/4/5 stars hotels in the last 50 years and The Gate is the first one that does NOT provide daily cleaning service such as clearing the dust bin, replacing towels, vacuuming, new bed sheets etc. When I asked, I was told this £120 room doesn’t have this service and I have to pay extra for it! There’re pots and pans and dishes and even an oven in the room BUT no telephone! What if a guest has an emergency… a fire, a medical situation etc? The reception said guests can call using their mobiles! I gave up! What’s the costs of a hotel room phone versus those kitchen utilities? Common sense is not common these days! The hotel is also situated in a shabby sleazy neighbourhood. I rate the hotel zero! Avoid at all costs.

I do like the location a lot; it's very convenient. Two different tube stations are nearby, and the hotel offers 10% discount for the grocery store around the corner.
