We stayed 4 nights on a coach trip. We asked for a quiet room and this was accommodated. We slept well. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower with space for my skincare and other toiletries. The evening meals were the best we've had on a coach holiday and we've done many. Breakfast was great. Lots of choice and the food was hot. It was no bother to get poached eggs. If you're a real ale fan there's a great micro pub just metres away. We also enjoyed the pub at the end of the road. The hotel itself is well used and does need a spruce up but it didn't spoil our enjoyment. We would stay in this hotel again.

The hotel in general was in need of upgrading, our room was smelling very musty and there was a hole in the wall which needed repair. The bed had no mattress cover, the pillow had no protectors underneath the cover. The bed had a topper but according to the teceptionist was the protector! This was concerning to me due to health. The smell and protectors were my only main issue in my bedroom. The spa pool was lovely, although the jaccuzi was too cold to enter. The food was excellent and that made our stay worthwhile. Staff were lovely in the restaurant and bar. Would I stay here again, yes if the bedroom had no bad smell plus mattress cover and pillow protectors!

If The Metropole Hotel take an interest in the reviews posted here, then management should take heed. From a conversation my wife and I had with a shop owner in the town centre, then the experience we had at this hotel just backs up her opinion and how disappointing that is considering her past testimony of the previous owners. Get a grip and sort out the problems if only in room 222. Down at heel with poor, dated decor. Toilet difficult to flush. Toilet leaking, probably from within cabinet. Faulty bedside light switch. Hot water all but absent meaning quick bath or shower. Sink cracked from one side to the other. Plaster coming away from window frame. Tired furniture. Plus side. Comfortable bed. Big restaurant with reasonable quality food but chairs need replacing or reupholstered. Pleasant, courteous staff. Money needs spending on this hotel to bring it back to what once was a pretty good place to spend a few nights. Just as well my wife and I are honest too, as our evening meal was not notified to reception before our departure the following morning.

Very poor value for £130 bed and breakfast. Much of the hotel is gloomy with poor lighting and old carpets. My room was basic and old fashioned although my bathroom was more modern. The hotel seems mainly to cater for coach trips. The breakfast was canteen like and very DIY. Food is ok but not special.

Groupon offer was excellent. Food and the bottle of sparkling with it surpassed our expectations. Lovely , helpful staff too. They just need to fix the heater in the hot tub. Currently we used it as a plunge pool after the sauna Not my first first visit and definitely would return

We had a lovely stay, me and my 2 boys had a family room - double bed for me, big bathroom with a bath and seperate walk in Shower then a little room with bunkbeds for the boys. Tea and coffee and biscoff biscuit. Hotel is old, so the decor matches it. Plenty of places to sit around the hotel. Lovely bar and brasserie area. We had food in the dining room. Plenty of tables. We used the swimming pool, that was lovely. Chairs around the pool to sit on. Towels given, and lockers available. Also Spa treatments but didn't have any. Food- We had the set 3 course in the dining room and breakfast... Really good. Good portion, fresh and very tasty! Couldn't fault it. The lovely waitress - Louise served us in the evening and was also there for breakfast. Very friendly, and Couldn't do enough for us, nothing was any trouble, always smiling and chatty. Hotel could do with a few touch ups, paintwork mainly. Saw a couple of dogs inside so assumed dogs can also stay! Would stay again.

My friends and I dined here twice in the main restaurant. The food was good and on both occasions we were well served by friendly and professional staff, all of whom hailed from a diverse selection of international countries and none the worse for it, they were charming. The town is not without interest, some impressive Victorian architecture, a station, huge Tesco and a handful of good independent shops plus evidence of significant residential development and a good focal point for enjoying the fabulous Mid Wales scenery.

I booked myself a morning relaxation spa treatment, and I was really looking forward to it. But... I should have put 2 and 2 together when I asked if I could book a treatment , and was told" there are no therapists available, as we're having a few staffing issues". The place was so depressing. Filthy tiles, the windows were blown and dirty, the "sauna" smelt of dry stale urine. I was so upset, I cancelled my lunch. I spoke to Henry about my experience, and I told him how disappointed I was . I then sent an email making a formal complaint. This treatment was £40.00. The local leisure centres are better presented and maintained. It was a disgrace. Up to now. No management have been in touch. No apology or offer of refund either. Save your time and money. This occurred Tuesday just gone, we're now on Friday. Still nothing. Silence will not fix your failings metrepol. People deserve better treatment than this. You are charging full price for something that is sub standard, dirty, old, tired and worn. I dread to think of what the areas are like that the public don't see.
