Amazing place! The reception is fabulous and the menu looks amazing! It's situated right next to a golf course so plenty of nature to explore. Staffs were friendly, rooms were cosy and comfy, good amenities too!

The food in the knights restaurant was very good , so much so we changed our plans and ate there a second night . Overall a pleasant stay though the rain limit our spirits and enthusiasm to go exploring.

Booked for two nights to go to Beamish museum . Travelling by train. Walk , part uphill to Castle takes about 30 minutes from the station. Uber £ 8 bus quite complicated.  There is a bus from town centre to the hotel  but it’s quite complicated suggest if unable to walk book a Uber. Bus  from town centre to Beamish entry very easy,  £2.50.  Now for the Castle itself. You can’t help falling in love with the quaint and worn castle the ‘worn’ being part of its attraction. We stayed in the stables in an upstair room. Stairs are quite narrow with small landings so  not suited to those with hip and calling difficulties. Bed , bedding and bathroom immaculate and very comfortable. Room very peaceful with early waking of bird song. Bathroom had a separate magnifying mirror which was very much appreciated. Down side was the dust on the beams over the bed hence the lower score for cleanliness.  Now for the breakfast and restaurant service. Faultless. Food of the highest quality with service to match. Breakfast matches the London 5 star ratings.  Overall this hotel was exceptionally good value and a place we plan to visit again. We highly recommend this for anyone visiting Beamish who appreciates high quality food, something a little different, peace and quiet who enjoys a lovely bath.

Nice castle to stay in . Bed was super comfy . Only downside was the service at breakfast , somewhat slow , we had to remind them twice about tea and toast .

Service was great, facilities great, was woke up early hours of the morning with fire alarm blaring in the room. my wife rang reception to see what was happening, the receptionist was quite abrupt and rude and said he knows I'm dealing with it, no apology on checkout. For us it is a luxury to have a overnight stay in a hotel, we were left feeling deflated and tired

The hotel is located at the edge of Chester le Street about half way between Durham and Newcastle. The hotel is a small castle built over 600 years ago with great function rooms that transport you into being a prince or princess. There is a lot of green around the castle and Chester le Street Golf Course is on the doorstep. Rooms in the castle are very nice but there are also rooms outside of the castle which may be preferable for older people. The restaurant serves a great meal and they have an extensive wine list.

The hotel was lovely. The downside was that the staff were not friendly or engaging at all at check in and our room was not serviced, though I had asked it to be serviced. My husband had to go to reception to get more tea milk and coffee and then we asked for some more they were reluctant to give it ! The staff at check out were very nice.

Quality hotel in a well maintained historic building which makes a refreshing change to the plastic accommodation thrown up today. Staff friendly and attentive, pity about the internet being down for maintenance which took the edge off my stay which was semi business but these things happen.

So beautiful! The castle hotel is very beautiful, and the front desk uncle is very enthusiastic. It is suitable for taking pictures. The room is very quiet and the heating is sufficient. There is a lot of artistic conception. There are many plants in the garden. The library bar is also suitable for sitting there and daydreaming. It's a pity that I didn't see the cats in the castle. I hope to stay here again next time.

The ancient castle has a long history. Walking into the ancient castle has the feeling of shaking hands with the ancients. It is a very real time travel of 200 years, especially in the dining hall. First, go back and forth in the passageway at the bottom of the ancient castle, bypassing the reflection of the blue light up to several meters deep The mouth of the deep well, and then through a corridor where the collections are displayed, enter the dining hall with dim candlelight and a strong sense of mystery. The small courtyard is quiet, the environment is superb, and the valley stream behind the house is an excellent choice for morning jogging. The walls of the main hall of the castle are covered with medieval oil paintings and European porcelain, showing the prosperity of the family. Here is the first choice for leisure travel and vacation.
