The hotel is pretty remote, but easy enough to find, and very quiet; the surrounding moorland is full of sheep and cattle, so one has to keep the gate shut! The room we had (a twin bedroom) was very small, though the en-suite shower-room was pretty large. The beds were comfortable, though the layout of the room meant that there was no room for bedside tables or cupboards: there was partial compensation by the placing of a wall light and switch, plus a wooden shelf above each bed, though I had to put a bottle of water for overnight thirst on the floor beside the bed. The shower-room was sparkling clean, but there was nowhere apart from a window-sill to put anything down: it really needed some sort of surface. The hotel provided tea and coffee-making equipment, plus biscuits and bottles of water. The full English breakfast was excellent. We also ate our evening meal in the hotel restaurant, which was fairly full: it attracts local diners as well as visitors, which isn't surprising - the hotel clearly employs a first-class chef, and the food was delicious. The hotel and restaurant are a family affair, and everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Couldn’t fault it at all! Beautiful views! Cabin was clean and well kept! We popped to the bar and the landlady and landlord were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area! You should expect a lot of animal poo (so don’t wear your best trainers) was amazing to wake up to the sheep and cows right on your door step! Will definitely be going back again!

Had the best stay at Wheal Tor Hotel, couldn’t fault it at all. The view from the room was amazing and the room has great facilities, everything you need for your stay. Breakfast is help yourself continental and plenty of choice. Food in the restaurant’s incredible and a wide range on offer. Fully stocked bar with lots to choose from. All staff members welcoming and would do anything g to help. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Really lovely evening here last night. Beautiful food, in taste and presentation. I had lemon sole on a bed of samphire with perfectly cooked veg. Very friendly, helpful staff, great views, community oriented I would've loved to try the locally-sourced scallops with black pudding if they had not been dredged. Was grateful to member of staff who found this out for me. Love to eat great food but not at the expense of damaging the sea bed. Try a source that uses divers instead? Thank you for a perfect evening

the staff are friendly, helpful, make you feel welcome. we have been here for drinks over the last few days, the views on a good day are fabulous,we were able to sit outside. today we had lunch from the "summer specials"menu. really lovely ,good portions, and a move away from "pub grub", if you want pub grub, there is a traditional menu. the wines are of good quality/good price. look forward to going back and tryingthe sunday lunch soon

New-ish to the area, we scouted around for a local pub, and lucked-in with this one. The view goes on for ever, and is stunning. The staff are keen and friendly - so rare to find these days. And the local beers are all that you need as you mellow with that vista. We've not really eaten here yet - though the Sunday roasts look properly traditional, so that's a pleasure to come. A special word though for the Brownies; I've got my own personal scoring on these and Wheal Tor gets a near perfect 9.7 - crisp top, melting but not soggy inside, simple presentation, and all as it ought to be - no aberrations like Oreos stuck on top or salted nuts clogging the base. Wonderful!
