Creta Maris Resort

Service Quality: Staff were consistently described as helpful and polite, contributing to a family-friendly atmosphere. The hotel’s service ensured guests felt well-catered to, though specific booking systems for dining required early app-based reservations.

Stayed here for a week in September and thoroughly enjoyed being at Creta. The hotel is just a few minutes walk away from the town with great bars and shops, handy if you fancy a change of scene. Its seafront location is beautiful and the beach was well kept. Yes a few stones in places but it wasn’t challenging to get past them as the water is crystal clear. Was very kindly upgraded to a pool view room free of charge, a lovely surprise. The resort is huge and you’d be wise to familiarise yourself with the layout as certain things are only available in certain locations; the waffle and crepe bar is at the back of the resort, the Aperol bar only serves Aperol and soft drinks and the water games are only played in two designated pools. Once you’ve learnt where to go for what it’s no bother though and the grounds are beautiful so the walks are enjoyable. The selection of food in the main restaurant were overwhelming! I’ve not had better quality or a wider range at any other 5* resort. The selection of bookable restaurants is great too and although I did have issues using the app the Reception staff were lovely and helping in securing me bookings. In fact, every member of staff I spoke with was lovely. I didn’t have any issues getting a sunbed at the main pool or the beach, people seem to forget that there are several pools so I don’t think it’s fair to moan about limited availability at the ‘main’ one. The drinks are all branded and there is a fantastic cocktail menu! Salad bar and fruit station were great to mentally off set the consumed cocktails!! I did hope for a better entertainment programme, I enjoyed a Grecian show one evening but it was typically a music act running between 9-11pm so don’t expect any bingo or talent contests! There are several elevated bars which overlook the sea and the hotel doesn’t have neighbours so it feels as though the whole cove is private. The bathroom products were from a lovely honey range (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) and there were some complimentary welcome kits left, cotton buds, shower cap, razor etc. Fresh towels and the room cleaned every day unless you ask otherwise and a soft, fluffy dressing gown and pair of slippers were also provided in the room, as well as complimentary water and soft drinks refilled in the mini bar every day! The service from Creta was second to none and the resort is so pretty and well kept. I was taken to my room in a buggy and helped with my case and given a great experience at the spa on my final evening. Yes, as with many of the other reviews, I was caught off guard by the adult only exclusive area but the facilities and grounds are so nice everywhere else, it didn’t make me feel like a peasant whatsoever! I had a magical break at Creta Maris and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others, I’ll very likely return :)

I’ll start with the good • The resort is really beautiful the attention to detail in the design is just incredible • The food is really good. Even as a vegetarian there were so many choices • Rooms are really spacious • Beach is beautiful • Lots to do if you want to and spaces for everyone whether you like busy or quiet and relaxed • Great family resort The could be better • It is impossible to book the a la carte restaurants • Mini bar doesn’t get refilled • While some areas are maintained beautifully others aren’t very clean. The Terra pool was disgusting and lots of stained sunbeds at both it and the bungalow pool. • Some unfriendly staff at both reception, bar and golf buggies • Housekeeping wasn’t the best there was a urine smell in our bathroom from beginning to end of our stay • No drinks service at any of the pools and bar service was slow • Difficult to get around if you have mobility issues. I had asked in advance for room allocation to allow for this and it wasn’t taken into account - also wasn’t sure easy to get a golf buggy to help with getting around.
