Wingate by Wyndham Lima Downtown

Both rooms had an initial odor of stale cigarette smoke, which I attributed to the age of the hotel that has been in downtown since my childhood; however, that assumption proved incorrect. After waking from a nap, I noticed that my suite reeked as if someone had been smoking inside, and upon thoroughly checking the suite, I found no one there and decided to contact the front desk. I explained the situation and was offered a new room, but only after clarifying that I wanted a room of equal value and would not be paying for an upgrade. The desk employee expressed their apologies and mentioned that they try to avoid placing guests in that particular room due to the uncontrollable smoking issue, referring to it as a 'certain' situation. They did not provide further details, but I gathered that someone might be residing in an adjacent room, which they have no authority over. I suspect that whatever this 'certain situation' entails likely violates several current laws. The next morning, I went to the front desk to check out and shared my dissatisfaction with the experience, only to have the manager completely alter the narrative, claiming ignorance about the source of the smoke and attributing the misinformation to a new employee. Her lack of credibility and obvious falsehoods left me feeling that there are significant problems at this hotel that warrant further scrutiny. The employee's account was too plausible and detailed to be dismissed as mere fabrication, as the morning manager suggested. I was extremely dissatisfied and will seek alternative accommodations for my future business trips to Lima.

I completely love staying here. The staff here is AMAZING. As soon as we walk in the door when we are in town staying we are treated like family. We have been to Lima twice in the last two months from Mississippi since our son is attending college there and we have stayed there both times and it keeps getting better and better. We will always stay here every time we come into town with out a doubt.

This will definitely be our place to stay while in Lima, OH. Great downtown location near walking distance of restaurants. Friendly staff. Well stocked breakfast. Clean rooms and atmosphere. Most of all, they welcomed my Yorkie. Highly recommend.

The room was very nice the bed was comfy everything seemed in perfect order when we arrived. Check in was super easy even at 12 am

The property was very nice and clean and well located. Centrally located and easy to get to.
