"We had a great stay at the City Hotel Rembrandt. It could not be easier to find, and is only 5 minutes walk from Leiden's main railway station. We arrived before 1200, but where about to check-in nevertheless as our room was already ready. It was a spotless and lovely room on the third floor, complete with balcony (though you did have to dodge the pigeons). Breakfast was in a very pleasant room on the ground floor. A fair selection, though not outstanding (the only warm food available was a boiled egg) and not the greatest value. But that's a small niggle. We had a lovely short stay and would certain stay here again."

"We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Leiden. The hotel is based in a couple of traditional character houses overlooking the canal. The first house holds the reception and breakfast room which are beautifully decorated. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by the host. Our room was in the attic of the next house which again had lots of character and everything you could wish for in a room. The air conditioning was especially appreciated given the heat outside. The stairs to the room were typical of old houses very steep and narrow so would suggest a ground floor room if you have any mobility issues. Leiden itself did not disappoint with its character and charming buildings, interesting museums and a great choice of eating and drinking options. Overall I would most definitely recommend a stay in this beautiful hotel if you’re visiting the city"

"Comfortable hotel although the location means it can be noisy at night from the road.lovely terrace by the river. The restaurant is ok although our evening service was appalling. The waitress was grumpy and we gave up on them clearing our table or asking if we wanted dessert."

"If you base a review on sleep quality, it was not good. However we arrived without being aware during Kings Day celebrations and the hotel is in the student district, again which we weren’t aware of. So 2 out of 3 nights techno music blaring until the early hours. We mentioned it to management who weren’t particularly sympathetic, I appreciate there was not a lot they could do but perhaps a form of compensation or a free breakfast but they weren’t interested, I really expect for the amount of money we paid that I would be able to sleep. We had a better night at the Premier Inn in Dover for a quarter of the price. The room itself was very small, struggled to open the shower door once in the bathroom and the bed even though comfortable was positioned against 3 walls so one person had to climb in over another person and it was slightly claustrophobic . The stairs are interesting and we coped but other people may struggle, especially with luggage. No offer of help. No reception desk and there only seem to be people around for breakfast hours. No lounge and limited information given. I would say it’s pushing it a bit to describe as a hotel, more like rooms in a house."

"Clean rooms and that's nice, but the bathrooms are very small. The beds, on the other hand, are large and good. Location is perfect! Right in the center with a view of the animal market. There is no reception. You can pick up the key at the Rembrandt hotel."
