La Croix d'Or Logis Hôtels

Great little hotel in the centre of Le Faouet positioned opposite the central market square. Steven the hotel manager could not be any more helpful and receptive, with all of the staff being really friendly and warm. The rooms are spacious and very well presented, with all good mod cons to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurant is really well laid out so each table has enough space so that you are not sitting on top of each other and the inclusive menu offering a great choice of meals. Monday being Monday in France do not expect a lot and nothing else is open so bear that in mind, although there is a burglar pizza bar three doors down. I would highly recommend this hotel for a two or three night stay. My only gripe would be, that the heating could be on in the evenings as it did get cold.

We had an excellent lunch at La Croix d’Or having spent the morning visiting the wonderful Musée du Faouet. The restaurant is centrally located on the beautiful Place Bellanger in Le Faouet, opposite the stunning 15th century anciennes halles. We were warmly greeted on arrival and seated in the outside veranda on a delightful sunny midday. I ordered the entrée/plat of the menu du jour (17€), my starter of oeufs brouillés à la portugaise was exquisite and my main course of canette a la puree de potiron was delicious. My wife went ‘à la carte’ and ordered the rizotto aux langoustines (17€) which was simply exquisite – delicate, perfectly combined flavours. Service throughout was attentive and courteous. We were delighted with this excellent meal, superb value at €37 (two café noisettes incl.) for two people. We shall certainly return.
