Elounda Gulf Villas by Sandglass
"We booked the hotel based on excellent reviews across a number of respected websites, even though the hotel looked a little tired from some of the photos. We had hoped excellent service would make up for it. Sadly there have been quite a few issues: - two bed suite was dark and dingy - the only view was from the kids suite was upstairs - pool filter broken so couldn’t clear sand from a recent sandstorm - main pool is not heated - power cut led to a noisy generator being erected next to our room - service at restaurant very slow. One night it took 1.5 hrs for drinks, a Greek salad, some cheese and kids pasta. We complained to manager who didn’t apologise - he just shrugged it off saying it was day 3. We asked twice through other staff, and all said they needed to speak with him, but he has not been in touch. - no inside option for dining at 12 degrees. Everyone dining in their coats. - limited menu options, especially for half board guests - basic issues in room not checked prior. We were the first guests this season eg WiFi, fridge not plugged in, coffee machine broken - very limited menu at beach club (only 2 items - one tortilla and Greek salad) We appreciate that there will always be teething issues in a hotel’s first week, but this isn’t a new hotel. It’s well established, markets itself ans a small luxury hotel of the world and very costly for the facilities and service."
Niko Seaside Resort Crete - MGallery Collection
"Lovely location, just minutes walk from the centre, where lovely restaurants and bars."
Elounda Orama
"Just home from a 2 weeks stay here. It is the 3rd time we have stayed here but will definitely be our last. The whole hotel is in dire need of renovation. The rooms are grubby as are the towels and We had 5 days with no hot water despite reporting this on numerous occasions to reception The steps to the toilets at the pool are a hazard there is no hand rail on either side The sun beds are grubby and stained . The upper pool area in run down with broken sun beds tables and parasols thrown in a pile. Avoid this hotel at all costs ."
Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort Crete Curio Collection by Hilton
"The highlights of our stay really were Tina's yoga lessons and Petros' fitness courses. We also enjoyed a high quality massage. Surprisingly good for swimming and snorkeling was the private beach of the hotel. Due to the rocks (under water), plenty of fish can be seen. (But you should know where the underwater rocks are in case you are swimming in a rough sea.) Staff was friendly and forthcoming. If you do not like the music at the main pool, you can use the other (quiet) pool or the beach loungers further from the pool bar. We enjoyed the pool bar service (e.g. its "Acai Berry Bowl") every day, calling the service from the beach lounger's call button. Both breakfast buffet and dinner buffet were nice. (The dinner buffet repeated after 1 week, but we stayed only 8 nights.) Minor complaints are: one of the self-service coffee machines was not working on two mornings, which lead to longer queues for the coffee. And the flax seed ran out three days before the end of the season (and was not filled up again). The door knob in our room was not properly working, so we could not lock the front door from inside. But apart from these minor complaints, everything was very comfortable, clean and pleasant. We were also extremely lucky with the weather: 22° water and 26° air temperature in the first week of November; so we did not do a lot of sightseeing, but rather enjoyed the snorkeling, swimming, fitness courses and yoga lessons. Compared to Tenerife, this was less expensive and equally enjoyable. Overall, the hotel is a great place to get away from the busy world and relax."
Enorme Santanna Island
"We have just returned from a weeks break to the Enorme Santana Island. I’ve rated it 5 star with some honest critisms, it felt wrong giving a 4 as you can see they are trying so hard and it is beautiful! The positives: the views are beautiful, we’d highly recommend a sea view swim up room. The rooms are spotless, water is replenished everyday, towels are changed if needed. The food (im GF so this also comes into my criticisms below) but for an all inclusive all round really good, lots of choice for most, my husband found it really flavoursome and you can literally eat all day as there is always something open. The chefs were constantly cooking fresh meats and replacing the foods. The range of drinks to choose from is great, the enorme cocktail and pink lady are lovely and the Aperol spritz bar is worth a visit. The staff work SO hard, it was the same faces every day 12-14 hours a day, always so pleasant and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble. They seem to have a lot of staff some seem new and some with a language barrier for basic orders. Please take this into consideration when waiting for drinks by the pool or waiting for a crepe at the station. They are trying their best. Be patient. The location of the hotel is close to sisi fishing harbour with a lot of nice restaurants and bars. It’s within walking distance. I used the spa and enjoyed a facial and back massage, it was lovely! Little pricey but I’d recommend a visit, the products are beautiful. The criticisms: There are gluten free options but soooo limited. I had one choice at each restaurant and GF people don’t just eat eggplant for starters. We didn’t visit the Asian restaurant as my only option was veggie sushi. I pretty much had the same everyday, omelettes for breakfast and for lunch and tea; chicken in a sauce, meats, salad and potatoes. The stews had gluten in, obviously pizzas/pastas contained gluten, everything else was battered. I had NO dessert options, Mary (who was lovely and very helpful) did bring me a yoghurt with honey one night but I don’t eat yoghurt. It really isn’t difficult to have a little station dedicated to GF guests, maybe monitored by a member of staff and we get given a red band to show allergies, to stop other people hounding it. Gluten free pastas would have been nice, stews without the flour to bulk it up, GF breads available at all times like everyone else’s, I could ask for it but you feel like an inconvenience when the staff are already so busy. Offer ice cream for desert with tubs or little chocolates again without gluten. It’s not that difficult to offer more. This hotel is NOT for children. We don’t have children but it’s not hard to see it’s more catered to an adults all inclusive. There are no slides or a dedicated kids pool. It’s very luxurious and the entertainment is for adults; a DJ late on, violinist and singers. They need more entertainment, it doesn’t need to be tacky, but maybe an indoor space with a quiz night, karaoke. "
InterContinental Crete
"This was one of the best hotel experiences of my life, and I've been working in the hospitality industry for years. The location is fabulous, and the upgrade to a higher room category was a pleasant surprise. The staff was wonderful, everyone, actually, but Mrs. Maria from the bar on the 5th floor deserves a special mention – she was very classy, had a smile, and was unobtrusive in her hospitality. We should have listened to her, because the delicious club sandwich we ordered for lunch was actually enough for two! Valet parking included in the price is an absolute rarity, and that also pleasantly surprised me. We will definitely be back."
Sitia Beach City Resort & Spa
"In the hotel’s spa, I received a massage that truly relaxed me. Every movement was perfectly executed, and I could feel all my tension melting away. It was a genuine moment of well-being and serenity. I highly recommend this relaxing experience."
Minos Palace Hotel & Suites - Adults Only
"Absolutely astonishing location and perfect hygiene everywhere, attentive and professional staff, always willing to help and make your stay even more pleasant and memorable. The hotel cares a lot about the overall aesthetics, the smell, the little details, they pay special attention to the selection of furniture and decor."
Elounda Heights (Adults Only)
"We visited Elounda Heights for the first time in 2024 and have just returned from another week in this delightful family run hotel. Their warm welcome, high standards of service and attention to detail are exceptional and its impossible not to relax from the moment you arrive. The views of the bay and Elounda town are beautiful and make sunrise spectacular for those that rise early. Freshly cooked breakfast around the pool, drinks and lunch at the pool bar, and delicious dinners in the restaurant in the evening is a recipe for relaxation. Rooms cleaned everyday and spotless. The whole team are fabulous and all deserve a mention - Vangelis, Ritsa, Katarina, Cleo, George, Elaine, Christina, Sandra and newboy Manos - thank you for a wonderful week. Natalia and Kostas, don't change a thing, its perfect. See you in 2026 :-)"

Elpida Village
"The hotel had a great view of the sea. The food was delicious. Breakfast could be a bit different. You get vouchers for typical Greek food. When it comes to the rooms, everything is great. The bathroom is really small. I recommend this hotel to everyone. Wonderful vacation!"
Apollon Hotel
"Loved it here, the hotel is 45 yrs old and not swanky. It’s spotlessly clean and a typical Greek hotel. What makes this place special is the staff. They are friendly, speak excellent English and treated us more like friends more than guests. We never had to tell them our room number they knew, their restaurant recommendation was superb. We stayed all inclusive and thankfully the food was great with a lot of it being typical Greek food. The location is superb only 5 mins from the beach and there is great shopping really close. I would go back here definitely."
Kitro Beach Hotel - Adults Only
"So romantic place beside the beach i loved this place! I'll be back sure. Everything is there the restaurant, the lake is shining, the beaches ammoudi, ammo very near to, I see the stars from my room 406 on my bed, and make wish when the star fall."
Mare Blue Hotel
"I don’t know where to start customer service is none existent food is diabolical blue badge holder asked for ice for my room he said no you’ll have to fetch it yourself from the bar which was near the beach and at least 4 levels of stairs and wet with towels on them soaking up leaking water when I expressed this to the front desk the man cause he was definitely not a gentleman laughed at me and said fetch it yourself worst place I have ever stayed really upset by his attitude was here till Wednesday but leaving in the morning 😡"
El Greco Hotel
"The staff were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. On asking when I had to vacate the room I was told that as I had a problem with my car I could leave everything I the room until it was resolved. This I really appreciated. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and there was 2 sachets of coffee and 2 of milk. Also a bottle of water. Bathroom was clean and towels were provided. Breakfast was good. Lots of choice and you could sit outside and look at a great view of the sun rising over Irepetra. I would not hesitate to stay here again."
Castello Boutique Resort & Spa - Adults Only
"Was looking forward to this ...however after paying for full board with a choice of two restaurants, thersonly the a la carte open. Alas no buffet evening meal just the a la carte where only the odd option is free, similar for breakfast. Drinks wise hey had run out of coke zero, the replacement was homemade lemonade at 8 euros a pop! Also run out of draught and bottled beer. It says it 5 star but its really not, not enough sunbeds and the cleaning only half done and the three cleaning ladies had an almighty row while in next door! Wont be staying here again it might be end of season but we've still paid best part of 4000 euros for this. Dont usually write reviews but dont want anyone else to get stung."
St. Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas
"From the moment we arrived, late & tired, we were treated wonderfully by the staff. They provided a welcome drink, late dinner & showed us our room. We had a sea view suite, with two balconies, one covered & one uncovered. The room was large with so many places to sit! I found the bureau area great for hair & make up as it had a large lit up mirror. Lots of storage & a large bed made for a comfortable stay. The fridge was a silent pull out drawer & it was fine to use, along side the chargeable offerings inside. We were gifted a bottle of rose, some Greek sweets & there was a fancy coffee maker, with a selection of flavours. We were also left two bottles of water each evening. Our great shower was over a huge jacuzzi bath, which initially I thought was inferior to a walk in, but I actually had 3 baths over our 11 night stay & enjoyed them. We were upstairs (low rise buildings only) with a lovely view. We never heard a thing at night & rarely during the day, so peaceful. The resort is spread over a large area and everywhere is beautifully laid out & comfortable. The hotel beach is stunning & the plentiful sunbeds super comfortable. The pool is gorgeous, although we preferred swimming in the sea. Breakfast was fabulous, by the pool, served & buffet options. Dinner was really good, again main course served & other courses a buffet. Great authentic greek options. Spotlessly clean throughout. On Saturday evening we were invited to drinks by the pool & chatted to the general manager, who was very present throughout our stay. We hired canoes on the hotel beach which was fun. The cocktails were great (not strong) & the wine list gorgeous! We got very familiar with Greek (mostly Cretan) wine during our stay. The staff were polite & welcoming throughout our entire stay. We rarely go back to the same hotel/town, but would definitely return here in the future. The town is a 30 minute walk, along the sea & has lots to offer. There was a cliff diving competition on the lake too, whist we were there. We visited Elounda twice & Malia (don’t bother) as well as Spinalonga by boat, very interesting. We had a wonderful stay at St Nicolas Bay & would recommend it 100%. Thank you for a fabulous holiday."
Aquila Elounda Village Resort, Suites & Spa

Cayo Exclusive Resort & Spa
"Cayo was just perfect. The staff so friendly and welcoming and not intrusive. Our room was amazing and watching sunrise was incredible. I had the BEST head, neck, shoulder and back massage with Eleni, she has magical fingers!!! Thank you ☺️"
Elounda Infinity Exclusive Resort & Spa - Adults Only
"Extremely hospitable and helpful staff. The hotel equipment is completely new. The main restaurant has a very beautiful terrace overlooking the sea that offers a rich buffet, very good breakfast and dinner. Very beautiful view of the sea and the island of Spinalonga. Modern decoration, lots of storage space, very comfortable bedding. I highly recommend it !!!"
Mila Sissi Bay Hotel
"We’ll, what a brilliant 2 weeks spent with friends at the Koutrakis suites in Sissi. The owners Stella and Meena are now classed as friends, we could not have wished for a friendlier and helpful time together. The suites are spacious with air conditioning in each area and the beds unusually comfortable. We had very restful sleeps during our stay. Towels and bedding changed regularly with the added bonus of towel sculptures created by our friendly maid. Koutrakis is located facing the sea and is about a 15min walk along the front into Sissi harbour and the many brilliant restaurants."
Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas, a Member of the Leading Hotels of the World
"From arrival to departure the service was of the highest level. Room was spacious. Beach and setting amazing. The water so clear. Cocktail bar wonderful at night."
Elounda Mare Relais & Châteaux Hotel
"We loved our two week break at Elounda Mare. We were in a one bedroom suite in the main hotel building, overlooking the pool and the sea beyond. The suite was a little bit tired in places, but very comfortable and clean with good housekeeping. The balcony extended across both the living room and bedroom and was spacious with great views. It was worth an early start to watch the sunrise. As others have commented the grounds are lovely and very well tended. There are a lot of steps and slopes as the hotel is set into a hill which drops down to the sea. Some lovely places to sit on the shore with steps into the sea, as well as the sandy beach. It was a 25 minute walk into town which we did several times, lots of nice restaurants on the water front. We liked Ferryman the best. Taxis are plentiful if you don’t fancy the walk back. The hotel bar was usually quiet, but pleasant with a nice terrace area outside. The boat round to the sister hotel was a nice little trip and the Italian restaurant there was very good. We enjoyed all the meals we had the hotel, breakfast was vey good with a wide choice and fantastic views. This was the only place where the hotel felt busy as a lot of the accommodation is in private bungalows/villas with their own pools. So the main pool was always very quiet and it was always possible to find a good spot by the sea, even though the hotel was apparently fully booked for most of the time we were there. The mid-October weather was beautiful. We hired a car and explored most of the eastern end of the island, which I would recommend."
Royal Marmin Bay Boutique & Art Hotel
"We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Royal Marmin bay and had the most wonderful, relaxing time. Our holiday to Crete had not started well, we had booked a package holiday with Jet2 and were staying at a different hotel in Gouves - we stayed 1 night and left - it was shocking. We found the Royal Marmin Bay online - this was the best decision we made. This hotel is truly 5*, from the warm friendly welcome when you arrive to the level of service throughout - the staff really make your stay special. We booked a sea view room with a private pool which was beautiful. The room was spotless and cleaned to a very high standard every day, with bed linen changed every 2 days, clean towels daily. The room had an amazing walk-in wardrobe and good size bathroom with every amenity. The location of the hotel is stunning, set in the hillside with amazing views across the bay of Elounda. The walk into Elounda is pleasant or a taxi is 10 euros which is reasonable. The private beach is a lovely addition and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The beach is clean and the beach restaurant is set just on the water' edge which is stunning the food was beautiful and plentiful as always in Greece. There was no mad 7.30am dash for sunbeds, they were plentiful at any time of the day both at the beach and around the pool. We stayed on B&B and ate out most evenings in Elounda. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice, with everything freshly cooked. Service in the restaurant was good and the staff were friendly. We did eat on one evening in the restaurant, the buffet was average and I didn't think compared the hotel as a whole was value for money or anything special. I suppose it's personal choice - we are not buffet people other than for breakfast. This hotel has everything you can think of for rest and relaxation, in a perfect location, with friendly welcoming staff and service that is second to none. If I was being really picky I would say a couple of improvements could be complimentary water restocked in the mini bar on a daily basis would be a good addition and maybe rethink the cost of the evening buffet - this isn't value for money. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing, we had the most amazing stay following a dreadful start to our holiday and would definitely return. Thank you Royal Marmin Bay for saving our holiday 😍"
Astron Hotel
"I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, making it very easy to explore the area and get around. The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. One of the highlights was definitely the breakfast – a wide variety of delicious options, fresh and nicely presented. Overall, a great experience and I would happily stay here again!"
Ella Rocrita
"We stayed during May half term as a family of four. We normally go to similar concept 5 star resorts such as Sani or Marbella hotels but thought we would try this hotel as it looked nice & the price was ‘reasonable’. Having read a lot of the previous reviews i think in the main most of them are fair & accurate in pointing out the issues. In summary is the hotel currently operating as a 5 star hotel - no, does it have the potential - yes. The key issues we faced can all be fixed with time, better processes and more hands on management. A lot of the issues mentioned below shouldn’t spoil your holiday if you are relaxed, but at the same time you also wouldn’t expect or experience them at other 5 star hotels. Rooms: There is no doubt that the hotel has invested a lot of money and in the main the rooms/pool area/restaurants all look great. However, some of the landscaping still needs time to establish and we got the impression some of the rooms were rushed as overheard a few complaints about A/C not working. Our room had an issue with water escaping from the shower and covering the bathroom floor as it needed a better threshold to stop it. Annoying but fixed with a couple of towels on the floor. The biggest issue with rooms was that they clearly oversold the sea view rooms as like with others we also did not get one. They rectified this by giving us an upgrade to a larger suite and offered on the second day to move us into a sea view room (we decided to stick with the larger room). A lot of the swim up rooms had very small pools unless you were on the corner so I wouldn’t pay a premium for one of these and plenty of space by the main pools. Service: All of the restaurant/bar staff were friendly and worked hard. The front of desk staff helpfulness was mixed and depended on who you spoke to. They were often too quick to say something was not possible instead of a ‘let me see what we can do’ attitude. The issues seemed to be down to 1) lack of experience 2) not enough staff and 3) lack of visible management on the shop floor providing clear direction & empowerment. Most issues occurred during peak breakfast(9-10am)/lunch(12.30-1.30pm)/dinner(7-8pm) times that we quickly realised so just went 15mins earlier and wait for drinks was less than 5mins. Yes sometimes the poor bars were busy but you just wait on your sun lounger for the queue to die down and then go. It wasn’t a holiday spoiler and us brits love a queue anyway so i dont think it was as bad as some guests make out. We did see some improvement during the week so hopefully it’s getting better day by day. When we asked if we could go to the buffet early as we were leaving the reception staff said no, but then a manager overhead and intervened telling the staff member to call the F&B manager. They did and it was all ok. This experience probably sums up the service issues and what needs to be addressed. We would have left the hotel with a more negative outlook but actually we left on a positive not"
Miramare Resort & Spa
"Facilities: A bit dated Cleanliness: Okay Environment: Beautiful with blue skies and white clouds Service: A bit slow, but generally friendly. Mostly white people, no discrimination against those with yellow skin."
Faedra Beach
"I ‘ve stayedin Faedra Beach hotel this year in august. The servise was eficient. I liked the hotel staff, always helpful, friendly and welcome. I felt I was the local amongs them. The room was clean, and being cleaned every morning. Also the hotel location and it’s restaurant right away to the beach, with it’s support at the beach with various snacks and beverages. Location was convenient to reach the close town Agios Nikolaos, or to do hiking other way around the sea. Jolita"
Candia Park Village
"Very nice hotel, view is amazing! Food is buffetstyle, for vegetarians okay, for people who eat everything very nice! Had the best massage there - thanks andreas!"
