WoodSpring Suites East Lansing - University Area

I believe Woodspring has jumped onto the alarming trend of companies who dishonestly extract money from customers, then hide behind AI and offshore call centers when the customer objects. I've stayed at Woodspring Suites East Lansing, MI at least 6 times, always pre-paying, following all rules as a well-behaved guest. This time, they canceled my pre-paid reservation at the last minute. They claim ******* canceled it, but I was not logged into ******* when the room was canceled, and a supervisor at ******* says the cancellation did not come from them. I called Woodspring and they began to lie to me in various ways. First I was told "the property is completely booked" for my dates. My room had just been canceled an hour previous, so I asked what had happened to it, and she claimed she could not even look it up. Then I was told I could book my 11-day stay (the exact room I had before) if I paid for a 2-week stay, because they "are a long-term residency hotel and have a 2-week minimum." I asked the price for two weeks, which they quoted, and I agreed to do that. As soon as I agreed, the clerk said she was sorry, the actual price was $200 more than the first price she quoted me! The hotel has little going for it. It is noisy, desk service is slim-to-none, and amenities are nonexistent. There are always a number of noisy vehicles in the parking lot whose occupants drink alcohol and leave the bottles for others to pick up.

Everything was good the price was good the area was quiet and kinda secluded my room was clean and the front staff was friendly and helpful

Check in was a nightmare after hours. They had a remote counter for check-in. You had to ring them up, and then go to the machine to get checked in. I waited almost 5 mins just to get someone to pick up the call after multiple dials, then, I was told she was checking in someone else from a different location and that it’d take 5 mins. I waited for 5 mins, nothing, called back again and redid the same thing. Total wait time was 15-20 mins I could not get anyone to get back to me so I gave up and left to have dinner. When I got back and the agent was available, it went much better. Key drop off was easy for check out so that’s a plus. The room itself was clean and new, but the pillows are so thin they might as well be nonexistent, there’s a great kitchenette, but no silverware, no pots, not even a kettle. So really, it was decorative. The bathroom had one small bottle of shampoo, and one small bar of soap, that’s it. At the same price, you could get better bathroom amenities from other motel competitors. Especially since the kitchenette was not equipped with anything. Will not return unless I have no other options in the future. Value wise it’s still acceptable. But beware of everything that’s lacking and try to check-in during office hours. Traffic noises was also loud. Not the worst, but woke us up a couple times.

Super clean. Nice and quiet. Very friendly staff. Beds are comfy amd quite spacious rooms. I will definitely recommend this place!!!
