A lovely place to stay. The room was spacious, clean and warm. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Eat as much or as little as you like. All cooked to order. Rohan and staff were friendly and helpful. The Gables is situated in a quiet cul de sac within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. There is some parking which is a bonus in Ambleside. However it is tight but a free pass for nearby parking is available. We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again.

I’ve stayed in many B&B’s in Ambleside and this is my favourite so far. The decor is nice and fresh, the breakfast was excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I thoroughly recommend.

Lovely stay at The Gables. Clean rooms with a modern bathroom. . Enjoyed the breakfast. Owner was very welcoming. Convenient location close to the shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

Great position in town centre with parking if you're early enough. Nice room with view over to Loughrigg, compact but clean and tidy. Good breakfast but breakfast room tiles could do with replacing.

My second visit to this wonderful roomy guest house in the last six months,this time a single room,though the single bed appeared to be a small double,but left plenty of space,with good sized bathroom en-suite with bath and shower,good water pressure! Situated on the south side of city centre,opposite park providing bowling green ,Tennis Courts and pitch and putt golf,also short walk to country park approximately 100 metres away. Breakfast provided to order,and wonderful staff,cannot wait to return.
