There is no place I love as much as the Mirror Lake Inn. From the gorgeous Adirondack decor, to the incredibly kind and accommodating staff and e enjoyed every moment of our stay in the Presidential Suite. It is a perfect room for large families with the addition of the adjoining room. Our kids loved the bunk beds. The sauna in our room was an amazing respite after skiing. Being able to get our skis, poles and boots at the Inn before going to the mountain saves so much time and energy. The cookies at the front desk are the best. The food overall is amazing. We looked forward to flapjacks and hot chocolate in the morning, and dinner The View was impeccable. Dinner at the cottage is also a true cozy delight. The Brussels sprout salad is amazing. This hotel is so family friendly. Great food for kids, accommodating staff, checkers in the library and oversized chess in the yard are some of our favorite things. We will be going annually for years to come.

What an incredible last minute choice of vacation spot! My parents had their honeymoon in Lake Placid during the blizzard of ‘47, do I simply had to visit. The Mirror Lake Inn under the management of Andrew Weibrecht is a superb spot. Chris assisted immensely with the reservation. My room overlooked the most surreal, spectacular view of the tranquil lake (where we spotted a lone loon at dawn); the full moon sifting through the trees and whipped cream clouds; and the giant chess set on the lawn. From early a.m. pink sunrise tranquility through the Indian summer day, sitting on the lakeside comfy lounge chairs, reading in solitude; kayaking through the still waters in late afternoon—was purely magical. The welcoming hotel staff are impeccable at attending to every detail to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, from recommending local breakfast places at 10am to getting refills of coffee at 10pm ! Thank you to Will, Erin, Sam, Yra, Emily, Indira, Jay, Jayson, Joyvana and Ankita -staff at the front desk and at the luscious Cottage and elegant View restaurants. The steak au poivre meal at the View was one of the best I’ve ever had! The chicken tikka soup and chicken pesto at the Cottage were luscious. The waitresses were warm and wonderful. The vibe at the cottage is relaxed and upbeat -makes you want to just move in !!! September at the MLI was priceless. I can only imagine how the snowy frozen lake scenery snd toboggan times are in winter. Must go back! Don’t forget to check out the indoor spa with phenomenal pool, mini sitting bridge and hot tub. Amazing!

We stayed there 4 times the past 10 years & enjoyed the sincere services, great dining options as well as the hotel’s proximity to the White Face Mountain ski slopes. The views dorm hotel rooms are very pretty and romantic. Reservations for their restaurants are a must as they don’t have enough tables to serve hotel guests and tourists.

A beautiful inn with the friendliest and most attentive staff. Gorgeously decorated for the holidays. Wonderful restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Large, very comfortable and charming common areas greatly enhanced by the no cellphone policy. A central fireplace with a real wood fire going. Short walk to Lake Placid’s downtown shops and restaurants. Enjoyed the indoor pool. Every time I leave I regret not staying there more often.Great base for skiing and hiking.

Everything is fantastic here; the service (except at times when the bar is crowded), the food, the views, the rooms. Everything. People are so nice, room staff even when not using them are nice and polite, front desk, bartender, maitre D', and the place is full of nooks and crannies for sharing a drink, reading a book, or meeting interesting people.

What a splendid old inn! Its 1920s Adirondack decor and flair really are special. The public rooms are woody and yet light-filled, with sitting spaces, antiques, old books, and beautiful views. Guest rooms are well furnished, understatedly elegant, and scrupulously clean. Breakfasts are delicious, and coffee, tea, and cookies are always available. In addition, the staff are as pleasant and helpful as they come, all of them. It's a welcoming, comfortable place. I should add that it has lots of amenities that I didn't have time to explore, but certainly will the next time I stay. Reading some of the negative reviews astounded me. If guests want brand-new, corporate-style sleek interiors, the Inn at Mirror Lake is not for them; but then, for me, and for the bulk of visitors, this well-established, immaculate lodge is exactly the thing.

The AI overview nailed it. Positives: Clean with a great location. There is no way that it was worth the money, however, and I am honestly shocked by the AAA 4 Diamonds and their listing as one of the best resorts in NY State. The rooms are dated. The furniture is worn and the rooms are dark. This also means that there aren't enough outlets for two people's phones, laptops, watches, etc. We were on the first floor and the ceiling was so thin that we heard every footstep in the room above us. At one point, when my boyfriend was in the bathroom, I heard a sneeze and said "bless you" ... but it was the person upstairs! The wifi was free, but you get what. you pay for. We had to run our laptops off our phones. We couldn't get Netflix on the TV because the internet was too slow. We couldn't use the safe because the was a "battery low" flashing on the safe ... and we didn't want to have our belongings locked with the inability to remove them. And this place has so many rules! It was like staying with your grandparents. There was even a sticker on the bed when we arrived to "prove" that the sheets were clean. Nothing says luxury resort like a sticker on the sheets. We also got the package with free breakfast, but were told that it was first come-first served. On Saturday when we showed up at breakfast, we were told that it was a 20 minute wait. The dining room was more than 1/2 empty and all we wanted was a buffet. When we offered to hit the buffet and take the food back to the room, we were told that it was against the rules. When I loudly said that the place deserved a one star review, we were suddenly seated immediately by one of the owners. Though we declined room service, there was a surprise $10 per day housekeeping gratuity on our bill when we left! (The Management removed it.)

My wife and I went for an extended weekend. Loved the Inn. It's rustic but well put together. Excellent room. Excellent service. It is central (as is all Lake Placid) to hikes and the surrounding Adirondacks. Would highly recommend staying here. I would avoid the restaurant though.
