Spookdraai B&B

We had a horrible exoerience with the person on duty. On website we had seen breakfast was served from 07h30 we asked to have ours at this time and he just rudely replied the staff do not work so early we have to come after 8h00. We tried to explain we booked as this was indicated to us and we had no choice in the time. The room was nice. When we returned the evening the house had a awful lingering smell from whatever was cooked it was still evident in the morning when we left. The kitchen area was not very tidy. House is very nice looking but this staff member ruined it for us. Also he smelt of sweat and was very untidy in his appearance. A pity that 1 person could ruin a trip.

The experience before was that bad, that we were extremely happy ever being in that place. We faced a 24h delayed arrival at Captown due to failed flights connection (airline issue). As of a consequence, we kindly asked for the cancellation of our reservation at Spookdraai B&B. Of course we can understand that a free cancellation cannot always be offered (but would have as been a very strong commercial message). The real outcome was extremely impolite. Thus, no single gesture was offered, but a 100% cancellation fee AND no single answering to our multiple messages. We have no trust with Spookdraai B&B. They shall not expect any respect.

Great location Large room with large bed, spotlessly clean. Fridge, microwave and kettle on the room, nice touch to have fresh milk and water in the fridge on arrival. Good breakfast cooked fresh. Viewpoint at back garden was a nice option but be warned, the mosquitos are vicious!

We arrived late at this accomodation, and this was not a problem at all. We asked for South-Afrian Braai in the evening, the taste was very good, but the portion was too big for us. The room is spacious and has a nice view. There is a small swimming pool behind the building, on top of the hill, from where you have a super-nice view as well. The breakfast was complete, but again the portions were too big for us. We enjoyed our stay!

Sea facing apartment at the southern most tip of Africa. Spacious room modern amenities. Breakfast was served hot with eggs to order and other local delicacies and freshly brewed coffee. Load shedding was an issue due to cold weather but it doesn’t matter as they have very friendly staff. They even cleaned our car while we were having breakfast. This is ideal place if you want to spend an overnight here in L’Agulhas. Parking is inside the gated compound.

We stayed here for three nights, we had a great welcome from the member of staff who came out into the car park, took our suitcase and took it up to our room, the family room was lovely, although the bedroom with two bunkbeds was small, and it was very difficult to squeeze between the 2 to get into bed. I ended up putting my daughter in the room and lifting up the other bed and then staying in the big bed with my son. One massive problem was there is no alternative electric when it is load shedding! On a break/holiday, you would expect a hotel to overcome this problem, and at eight till 10 pm. It was very very dark and there was nothing else to do in the room except for a light which was provided. Also when we returned to refresh on the 4 till 6 load shedding, you couldn’t put the kettle on or tv for background noise and the bathroom was very dark when you closed the door. It was the staff who made it for us, Marshall. The manager spoke when we spoke to him, but did not come across as friendly, we were not informed of when breakfast was and on our second day, I went down on my own to get breakfast as I thought he said eight till 10 when I asked, and this was 930 and did not get a breakfast. Perhaps there was some confusion with language communication We had a braai on the first night we were there and that was really lovely, although I felt R275 per person was a bit on the expensive side for a cheese toastie to start, chicken, Pap and a small koeksister and ice cream for dessert. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day and the fridge restocked. We had a lovely view of the mountains and it was lovely to watch the many garden visitors. All in all a pleasant stay and the location is great
