Kunming Panlong District Hotels

The hotel is in the city, so the room isn't huge, but I love the color scheme. The little tag on the mineral water bottle was a nice touch. I really enjoyed just relaxing in the room, drinking coffee, and reading a book. In the evening, I went to the 6th floor for a workout and was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's lighting decor – it was really photogenic! I spent half an hour taking pictures and picked one I liked to show off.

1️⃣ At checkout, they asked if there was anything unsatisfactory, and I briefly mentioned a few things. But then the hidden agenda emerged: they asked me not to leave a bad review on Trip.com. Okay, fine, I won't. But surely I can still write about my honest experience, right? 2️⃣ From an attitudinal standpoint, their approach is fundamentally flawed. In the service industry, a breakdown in management directly impacts the guest experience. They neither want to improve nor accept genuine feedback – it's truly sad. They seem to want to shirk their responsibilities and standards through such tactics. Why does the hotel spend so much money employing these people? Is it just a 'clock-in, clock-out' mentality? If so, I understand, but then that's a problem with leadership and management. 3️⃣ Let's review everything from start to finish. At check-in, none of the complimentary benefits included in the Trip.com package – whether useful or not – were proactively explained to me on how to use them. Upon entering the room, the strap for the slippers was just lying scattered on the floor. The breakfast, for a hotel in this price range, was rarely this bad, especially for a hotel at this price point and location in a tier 3 or 4 city. Both the Western and Chinese selections were poor. And they used Yili for yogurt and milk? They should really go learn from the St. Regis in Shanghai. When I went for breakfast, even though it was peak hour, there was no one at the entrance to greet guests. Everyone seemed to be helping inside. I stood there for a while before I just walked in myself – a basic mistake that shouldn't happen. After being shown to a table, there was no routine inquiry about whether I'd like any soft drinks. 4️⃣ The large Grohe system in the pool's main shower room was completely broken beyond repair. The handle was off, and the overhead shower was completely clogged. There was no sign that they intended to fix it. Could it be that the pool's water system isn't connected to a water softener? 5️⃣ For over 2,000 RMB, there aren't many choices in Kunming. The hardware is currently impeccable, and the room design is good – taste is subjective, of course. But the public area design is truly outstanding, not inferior to the design style of the Rosewood Guangzhou. You can tell a lot of money was spent. However, that's all you're paying for – this design. The service is comparable to that of a budget chain hotel costing a few hundred RMB, and in some cases, even worse. There's no need to compare it to the neighboring Shangri-La either; their service is also a mess, with a feeling that all the new staff were put to work without proper training. But in terms of public areas, honestly, the Grand Hyatt is more grand than the Shangri-La.

The hotel is conveniently located near the main road, and the front desk is on Level 2. Just like many other hotels in China, they allow early check-in, which is one of my favorite things 😊. However, if you plan to visit Nanping Street, you'll need to book a Didi, as it is not within walking distance.

The transportation is quite convenient. The hotel offers a 24-hour shuttle service once you reach the roadside, which is excellent and very thoughtful. Overall, it offers good value for money, and I felt very comfortable staying there. The bedding was extremely comfortable, and the breakfast arrangements were also very good. The overall environment was fantastic, and it was great for taking photos. Room facilities: The facilities were very comprehensive; almost everything you'd need was available, including bathrobes.

The room was fantastic, even had a small sofa for guests. The style reminded me a bit of an All Seasons Hotel. They provided a good variety of tea bags and 4 complimentary bottled water bottles in the room. What was even more convenient was the table by the elevator entrance, stocked with a large pile of free bottled water for guests to grab. On my first day, I used quite a bit of the bottled water and tea bags in the room. The next day, housekeeping replenished it with 8 bottles of water and a generous amount of tea bags! They even delivered a complimentary sweet soup to my room every evening – talk about thoughtful service!

This hotel was the best one during our entire Yunnan trip. The room wasn't huge, but it was very well-designed and matched the price perfectly. One thing that was really important for me as a mom was that there was no carpet in the room. The staff were incredibly enthusiastic and responsible; you could tell they operate with high standards. The lifeguard was constantly patrolling around the pool, and the front desk staff were also very attentive. The gym's front desk person was responsible and proactive. After my 8-year-old son went for a swim, he went to the men's changing room by himself to shower. When I went to the front desk to ask, I realized the exit for the men's changing room wasn't in the direction we entered the pool area. I was a bit worried, and a staff member immediately went to find my son for me. When they saw me fumbling to help my son change, they quickly took his swimsuit to spin-dry it and pack it up for us. When we were leaving, the concierge, who was quite far away, actually jogged over to help us with our luggage.

Kunming is a beautiful city, and the Senyue Hotel boasts a prime location, close to both the subway and bus stations, making getting around super convenient. The front desk and housekeeping staff are all very friendly and eager to help with any issues. The rooms are well-equipped, offering great value for money and an affordable stay.

This stay experience exceeded expectations. The hotel is strategically located, convenient transportation, convenient for eating and shopping around, the room is cleaned very clean, there is no smell, the layout is spacious, the lighting and ventilation are very good, the mattress is moderately hard and soft, and the rest quality is very good. Hotels around Cuihu Lake are generally quite pricey, often either too small or too old. If you're looking for good value and a relaxed trip, Fairfield is an excellent choice. It's very new, rooms are spacious, and the higher floors offer nice views. There's a gym and laundry facilities. Breakfast is decent, but sufficient. You can even order takeout, and a robot delivers it to your room. Donghua Farmers Market is just a 300-meter walk away, offering a huge selection of fruits, cooked food, and vegetables. I found prices there cheaper than what I saw in the city center. However, since Donghua is also getting more tourists now, it's still worth comparing prices and checking out a few different stalls. The market is a great place to visit daily. If you're heading to Cuihu Lake, a taxi ride is about 10-20 yuan. Half a day to a full day is probably enough to explore the area around Cuihu Lake, which includes the former site of Southwest Associated University, Cuihu Lake itself, and Wenlin Lane. The Provincial Museum is not in the city center; it's best to set aside half a day specifically for that, and a taxi will cost around 25 yuan.

I've stayed in thousands of five-star hotels, and this one truly made me want to stay longer. No need to even go to Japan anymore; Tokyo probably has at least 3,000 hotels like this. It's perfectly suited for those who seek ultimate tranquility and beauty, and dislike noisy and superficial environments. The service was also excellent, although it felt a bit understaffed. Even though the room itself didn't have a hot spring bath, the SPA massage was absolutely amazing! This place isn't suitable for families with many noisy children, as it would disrupt the aesthetic. I wouldn't recommend it for large families with elderly people or many kids. Facilities: Excellent, on par with five-star hotels. Environment: Superb. It's located within the Expo Park, with mountain and forest attractions right outside – incredibly relaxing.
