We’ve just returned from the most unforgettable stay at Kudafushi Resort & Spa and are already planning our return! A heartfelt thank you to Alessio in Customer Relations, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay special. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and his warm manner set the tone for the entire holiday. The food was wonderfully fresh and plentiful, with friendly chefs at each station. There were generous daily selections of freshly grilled fish like wahoo, tuna, marlin, and reef fish, alongside scampi and crab, all cooked to perfection. For those who don’t enjoy fish, there were always chicken and beef options available. Saturday’s Maldivian Night was a real treat, a colourful, aromatic celebration of local cuisine that we thoroughly enjoyed. Drinks were vibrant and delicious too. The Dive Centre is truly 5* PADI standard, and the team there made our trip unforgettable. Huge thanks to Fasey (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name!) for always being on hand to help us find the perfect equipment, and to Camille for my first dive taster. A special thank you to Dhaal. What a legend this man is! He took my daughter and me on three incredible dives where we saw thousands of fish, moray eels, turtles, a lobster, and beautiful anemones. Knowing how nervous I was on our first dive, he came back on his day off to take us on our second. I genuinely never expected such thoughtfulness. Every time we glanced over during the dives, Dhaal was already looking at us, always one step ahead, checking in, making sure everything was okay. He made us feel so safe and at ease underwater. We could not have asked for a better guide. If you’ve never tried diving or feel a bit unsure, please go to Kudafushi and speak to the team there. They’ll make you feel like you can achieve anything. I've only been on Kudafushi for 24 hours so far, but I already feel like a local. A few thoughts people might (hopefully) find useful: Pre-trip communication with the resort: I contacted the resort several weeks before my trip to request a specific villa number, and prompt responses were received. Getting a specific villa can never be guaranteed, however they do their best to accommodate all requests. Upon check-in, they had indeed allocated the specific villa I had requested, which was a great bonus. I was also given links to a load of information about the island, so I felt I understood the island even before I arrived. Arrival: I was welcomed at the jetty by a team of resort staff, and the personalised, one-on-one check-in process was smooth and welcoming. The same person also escorted me to my villa. A thorough introduction to the island was provided, and within the first hour of being here, I was already familiar with the island. A big shout out to Kiki, not only for her warm welcome, but for remembering the small details, and responding quickly to any requests. It's this attention to detail that separates a top resort from all the rest, and makes the guest feel at home right from the beginning. Layout of the island: if I were to design an island, it would be just like Kudafushi. Everything is within a few minutes' walk, and the position of the main pool between the Juju Bar and the main restaurant is perfect. Food and drinks are just metres away (although you don't even need to leave your chair in the sun, as the bar staff are so efficient), and when the sun warms you up, the refreshing sea and pool are both directly in front of you. The layout could not be more ideal, and you can choose to either be around other guests or be more secluded, as you wish. Accommodation: I chose an over water villa (334), and it was the perfect option. The layout of the villas is ideal, and the amenities include everything a guest could want. The gifts of a Kudafushi toiletry bag and the flipflops are a nice touch, and will be a reminder of my visit long after it's ended. Food: plenty of variety available in the buffet restaurant (De' North Sail), and the restaurant staff are extremely efficient and professional. I'm yet to try the several other dining options, but one thing is for sure, you won't go hungry or thirsty here. Excursions: many options are available, and regular WhatsApp messages are a great method of communication between the resort and guests. I've already done a snorkeling excursion, getting just centimetres away from many turtles, and am considering a half-day excursion to swim with manta rays. Overall, there's no feeling of 'sales pressure' from the resort, but they provide countless options, should you wish to participate. Must do: I could suggest five things already - and I've only been here 24 hours - but a sunset drink on the jetty by the Sea Edge bar is a must.
