Van der Valk Plaza Beach & Dive Resort Bonaire

Just a beautiful location with the beach and dive spot and dive amenities. The walk right out balconies are beautiful and the pools quite fun.

Visited Bonaire from 8/5/25 to 8/12/25 and stayed at the Plaza Resort. The Good… Resort is located less than 10 minutes from the airport. First impression…Lobby is Beautiful, almost Majestic. Check in process was efficient and our room was ready upon arrival (around 4pm). Room reserved was a 2 Bedroom Royal Residence. It was located right next to the pool and snack bar. The rooms on this side were just remodeled or just completing remodel. Room was Large, Clean, had 3 AC’s, Oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, coffeemaker, complete dinnerware and drinkware, etc. The view from the room was Amazing!!! Looking right over the bay and into the ocean. The Balcony was very large with a table, chairs and a lounge. Room service was good and prompt daily. Entire resort property including restaurant, pools, loungers, etc were all extremely clean and very well maintained. The amount of work it took to maintain such high standards was quite impressive. All the loungers/cabanas/etc were free unlike other resorts where many are reserved and cost extra. Wi-Fi around the resort was good. There are a lot of activities on site including kayaking, driftwood painting, snorkeling, diving, etc and the staff we encountered were all very pleasant and helpful. Onsite car rental was quick and it’s a great way to tour the island. Food was good and there was reasonable variety (not for a picky American diet). Live musinc in the evenings was good, not too loud or intrusive. A classic touch was having two staff members with Nerf water guns by the dining area scaring away seagulls (we called them The Guardians)! The Not so Good… Whether it was by design or not, there were quite a few things that could be improved. Restroom and Shower are in two different areas, sink in restroom leaked badly making it unusable, reported on Wednesday morning wasn’t fixed as of the following Tuesday morning when we left. Remote for AC in 2nd bedroom didn’t work. Room service ran dishwasher twice (even though it had clean dishes drying) and both times it leaked all over. Washer dryer is a great convenience, but it takes 2 hours to wash or at least 4 hours to wash and dry. Shower with no door and only a 1/4'” lip looked good, but water leaked out and went into the living room if towels weren’t placed on the floor. Small sinks with faucet in the center was another issue. No curtains on the main living room window let direct sunlight in from around 4pm until sunset (not very energy efficient). Considering we had a full kitchen, there was not one piece of silverware, not even a coffee stir. Elevator in our building didn’t work. Pool loungers got filled quite quickly at all the pools. Food variety ran out a few times (no eggs for breakfast at 9am on Friday). Service at the main restaurant was good, but they were a little short staffed. What looked like management were always at their designated lunch table between the lobby and the restaurant, but never once engaged

Everything about our trip was easy! The resort is so new and beautiful. The restaurant is incredibly delicious because they have chefs from Michelin restaurants. The dive shop was right behind our room and had very professional and fun guides. We all can't wait to come back!

This resort is a nature-lover’s dream! The snorkeling right off the hotel beach was THE best on the island! The staff was friendly and accommodating without being in your face. Here are some things to remember if you go: everything pretty much shuts down at 8:00pm, no entertainment, must bring outlet converter’s, and they don’t believe in washcloths (not sure what that is all about). One more thing, if you are a picky American eater, this is not the place for you! I really enjoyed the dining but there wasn’t anything besides French fries that a picky eater would enjoy. I will absolutely go back!!!

The Plaza Beach exceeded our expectations. It more than lives up to its beautiful pictures with stunning views and facilities. The staff could not have been more warm and helpful. Excellent food and service. The location makes it easy to walk in to the downtown area. We came for the diving, which was lovely, and appreciated both the easy boat and shore access. Some construction that did not interfere with our enjoyment of the resort, rather made us look forward to trying out new additions in the future. Could not recommend it more highly!

From the moment you arrive the decor is breathtaking. The front desk staff were friendly helpful and knowledgeable, which set the tone for the rest of the stay. My 5 day 4 night stay was in a 3 bedroom fully appointed penthouse overlooking the Marina with a partial Seaview. Each bedroom had king beds and it's own bathroom. There were 5 of us that shared this space (5 adults). The view from thebalcony/Veranda was peaceful. Everyday we either ate in the main restaurant or at the pool near our penthouse. The food was very tasty and the drinks were excellent. You never have to fight for space at the pool or seating in the restaurant. You refrigerator and wine cooler was stocked with tasty beverages, juice and soda. There is a full kitchen and the primary bedroom has a beautiful bathtub. I will be back.
