Avalon Hotelpark Königshof

Upon arrival, we found the front desk unattended, though we could hear staff in the back. After waiting about five minutes, we tried using the self-check-in machine—only to discover that it requires every guest to present their ID card. Unfortunately, my husband couldn’t locate his, so we went back to the front desk when we saw someone was there. There we could do the check-in without needing to show any identification. Finding our room (I believe it was room 312) felt a bit like navigating a maze. Ironically, we later discovered that we could have simply used a door at the end of our hallway, crossed the inner courtyard, and reached the reception area much more easily. Our “large twin room” was indeed spacious, with a wide semicircular area that felt somewhat bare and underutilized—just a table with two chairs in an otherwise empty space. A bit more décor or thoughtful use of that area would have made the room feel warmer and more inviting. The breakfast setup was also unexpected. The charming dining area shown on booking website seems to be part of the restaurant, because breakfast was served in a boardroom-like room with big round tables seating 10–12 people. This meant sharing a table with other guests, though the breakfast itself was plentiful and enjoyable. Overall, the hotel was ok for a one-night stay, but it would benefit from some updates and improvements to enhance both comfort and atmosphere.

Perfect hotel for an overnight stay

Very 90s era property in a rual and quiet area. Staff was super nice but definitely understaffed. The room was old and dated but mostly clean. We only stayed one night and for a place to just stop on a drive thru some other location, it is okay.

It is an outdated but clean hotel. Quite spacious rooms. The adjacent restaurant is however horrible. They got 2 out of 4 items we ordered wrong, and the food was expensive but not good at all. Also, the waiting time was really long. Not much variety at the breakfast buffet.
