Scandic Rukahovi
"Good location"
Magical Pond Nature Igloos
"The Magical Pond Nature Igloos offer an unforgettable experience with breath-taking views and the mesmerizing Northern Lights. The cosy, intimate setting is perfect for a peaceful retreat. Ajshe at the front desk was a delight—professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful, making check-in a breeze. The food was also absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!"
Ski-Inn RukaVillage
"Second visit to Ruka and stay at this hotel booked through crystal. Location is brilliant. Meters from the gondola and all the shops and restaurants. Rooms are clean tidy and perfect set up with fridge microwave hob kettle etc, everything but an oven in the 2 bed studio. Welcomed the bath and sauna after a ski. Only real criticisms are that the boot room is a bit tight and whilst there is a bar downstairs, there is no real reception area. Bar and restaurant is western themed and a little dark as a result. Breakfast was basic but nice. Could do with more than an a two slot toaster serving the whole restaurant. If I was staying in Ruka village again I would probably comeback here. Kept checking the web cam each night and saw the northern lights twice from the top of slope 6 behind the gondola, Homemade ring doughnuts from the cafe in the centre of town are not to be missed"
Holiday Club Kuusamon Tropiikki
"Hotel is a bit old. But staff are nice! Lot of facilities. Breakfast is just fair."

"We have visited Ruka for around the past 10years and always stayed in the same apartments. As we find them comfy, warm and not far from the slopes. This year though we were put in a studio apartment away from the slopes. the bed was in the living area. Beds are right in front of the log burner. Bit disappointed as we were there for 2 weeks. The apartment didn't seem very warm when we arrived. 2 of the radiators weren't working, along with the underfloor heating. With it being late we would have missed the rep. So we decided to leave it and see if the heating came on that night. It didn't. It got to around 60° by the morning. Luckily we had an extra duvet. The sink in the bathroom leaked. We informed the rep. Maintenance came down. Fiddled with the radiators. They came on. But only for half an hour. He said the underfloor heating was working as the red light was showing on the control panel. It wasn't. That night it dropped cold again. We also found the shower head was broke. The Maintenance reported the heating was ok. The temperature had gone up. Yes, as we had the cooker on,toaster. The dryer etc. I ended up widdling the underfloor heating button. Turning it on and off and around and around. The underfloor heating kicked in. Then came the log burner. These have a knack to lighting them. With being used to these we knew how to light them. There is a button on the wall that you press, it stays on to draw smoke up the flue. Ours turned off after 10mins. So the room filled with smoke. If we lit the fire, which you do when you have a sauna as the heating goes off. We couldn't have one together. We needed to keep pressing the fire button in. Then, one night after we had just swapped to go in the sauna there was an almighty bang. Numerous swear words. I stepped out of the sauna and the full length shower door had fell off in my husband's hands. Luckily it wasn't me or a child in there. The problems went on. Maintence came out. But didnt fix the problems. After a week of complaining and asking to come home on the next flight we gave up. To move us to another apartment they wanted €1300 . The price of another week. Ive never felt so stuck in a place that doesn't feel safe. Not all the apartments are like this. But this one needs some serious attention before a bigger issue arises. If you are also looking for a ski inn place thr studio apartments aren't for you. We absolutely love Ruka and have made some lovely friends with the locals. But sadly next year we are looking at a different resort."
Ski-Inn RukaValley
"Very friendly staff, clean apartment, private sauna in bathroom. Everything top. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Good food and also here friendly staff. Good base for the many activities in the region. We did not come for skiing, but went on snowmobile tours and took long walks from the hotel in the snow. Loved everything. Thank you for this lovely experience."
Hotel Rukatonttu
"We had a family room with a bunk bed that was too small for a 15-year-old. I suspected the chambermaid was on leave herself. She only visited us once in five days, even though we had filled out the form at reception indicating we wanted room cleaning. We had to request fresh towels ourselves at reception. Breakfast was good; it had everything you'd expect. Dinner was also fine, delicious, and the service was friendly."

Hotel Royal Ruka
"we shared at the Royal Ruka as part of a package holiday visiting lapland. we stayed for three nights/4 days. The hotel is set in a gorgeous location and very much has scenic and beautiful views of the valley it is situated in, particularly as there had been huge dump of snow the night before we arrived. Considering the carnage that multiple young families can inflict on a hotel, the Royal Ruka's staff took it all in their stride and offered a wonderful clean and well catered experience. The food was a mix of Finnish staples mixed with simple dishes like chicken nuggets and chips for the children. The rooms were clean and tidy, warm and with an inbuilt heated cabinet for drying the various snow suits etc we needed for our trip. All told, id like to thank all of the staff at the Royal Ruka, its a quality establishment that is clearly well loved by its owners."
Iisakki Village
House of Northern Senses
"If the trip to Laponia was a dream of the decent is of this structure and its owner Timo. Fantastic people who give you a welcome and support throughout the trip (and I broke a lot of boxes, I admit) surreal. The house (I would say the villa) is wonderful: living room with chamber, dining room, top bedrooms, 3 saunas, pool, ice lake...........a dream!"
Ski-Inn MastonAitio
"Second time in Ruka. Magical experience. This time even more amazing stay as we were lucky to see northern lights just above our house we stayed. Late everything in pine forest covered by fresh snow and clear ski full of stars and suddenly the magic has appears with romantic lights. Cannot describe with words enough, you need to see it with your own eyes. The house we spent all week is definitely can be considered as a smart home. Warm and spacious, next to ski lift. If you looking a place to relax and recharge your soul and body, Maston Aitio the right please."
