"UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Ziggy Stardust has been transformed from a beautiful paradisiacal location to a tacky gordy tourist trap. The new manager has decided that basically no Thai food on the menu and no Thai beer is a good idea. Gone are the days of some of the best food on the island coupled with well priced Thai beer cans, only to be replace with a disappointingly predominantly western menu with the only beer being a craft beer at THB180 per glass, served from a very tacky tuk-tuk on the deck. The renovations to the room were well overdue and credit where credit is due the rooms are massively improved. The bed is comfy and the pillows are nice, as is the inclusion of a safe and mini fridge. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. “Assistant manager” is rude and unwelcoming, completely unlike what Ziggy Stardust was before. The new manager seems to have no clue of what this resort was and should be. It used to have the most amazing menu of Thai food with some western staples, only to be replaced by a western menu with an insulting three Thai dishes. To top that off it is now displayed on an extremely tacky light up menu display above the “bar”. Throughout our trip the restaurant was empty every night, except New Year’s Eve. There is also no breakfast menu at all for guests, which seems a weird choice as you are essentially asking an entire resorts worth of paying customers to spend there money elsewhere. The location is still amazing but I worry for the direction the new manager is taking this resort in. It breaks my heart to write this review, as someone who has been coming to Ziggy Stardust since 2016, but the new manager has taken something special and removed everything that made it so."

Phayamas Private Beach Resort and Island Brew - Adults Only ★★★
"We spent three days here in a deluxe bungalow, ate twice in the evening as well as breakfasts and rented a scooter. An enquiry about the grades of bungalow was answered promptly and the transfer arrangements perfect. The bungalow was great and the general environment very nice indeed. Nice pool and the beach is fine for a stroll. Scooter rental also easy. So all in all a very nice place to stay; we enjoyed it and the accommodation provided a relaxing and stress free residence for the three days spent on the island. My problem was the food as although breakfast was good other meals were not up to much. Apart from a dish of aubergine chips which were amazing the dishes were basic and uninspiring. Okay, it’s a restaurant on a small laidback island but I would rather eat elsewhere where dishes were interesting and tasty even if fairly basic. A fish of the day dish (same fish on each day we were there) was well cooked but I didn’t finish it and the accompanying vegetables just bland. The restaurant shuts at 9pm which is fine but so too does the bar. You could buy a drink to keep you going but they just turn all the lights off when the staff leave. Come on, someone must be able to turn the lights off when the customers have gone to bed. And, no red wine! They sell white but not red? I have given the place a score of 3 which is called Average by TA and that’s a bit hard but a score of 4 is Very Good and it wasn’t that. It was good, I was glad to stay there and if I ever went to Phayama again would probable stay there again. But you will find much better food easily elsewhere."

"Very friendly staff. Unfortunately when we booked their website said ‘Queen Room’ - weren’t expecting a tent. The facilities were fine with power, private toilet & shower next to your tent. The very reasonable price was too good to be true. If I had have known the rooms were tents & I was on a budget I would stay there no worries."

"I got duped by the Italian owner completely and was charged twice for my stay of two nights. Duplicity and fraud. Unfortunately the action seemed calculated and premeditated. I really do not recommend this establishment at all. Dishonest owners. Absolute horror and really shocking for me. That's not to say that it is not a nice place. But there is some bad thing going on there. Bad vibe."

"The place is magical. The bungalows are on the beach, under the thick shade of trees, which is very important. We woke up well rested with the songs of the birds. They cook deliciously and the portions are good. And the sunsets will remain forever in the heart."
