Villa Castollini
"This is a fantastic place to stay for a few nights. Well run with a great swimming pool and a view to die for. Breakfast is provided but no other catering is available. A great pub with food and beach restaurant are within five minutes. We loved it here"
Pezula Nature Retreat
"Great location, very welcoming staff- all good! I have enjoyed the short stay and will consider coming again."
Knysna Log-Inn Hotel
"Everything from arriving to departing was seamless and very well managed. The staff were all very friendly and professional. We will definitely stay here again when we are next in Knysna"
Brenton on Sea Cottages
"The location is secluded, lovely for a beach holiday, loved that there were restaurants, and a shop in walking distance. Overall lovely stay. My kids complained about the lack of charging outlets in the room, none near the beds, and absent in one room, no smart tv, bathrooms could use a soap dish"
Protea Hotel Knysna Quays
"Beauriful hotel wirh great amenities in fantastic location right in the waterfront. We loved it and when back in Knysna will definitely go back."
Elephant Hide of Knysna Guest Lodge
"Excellent place, rooms are lovely and view is fabulous. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is very good for both breakfast and evening meal. Only criticism would be that the dinner menu is a little restricted and it does not change from day to day."
Orange Inn Knysna
"The hotel is exactly as represented online (if not a little better). The on-site manager was excellent in looking after us with local advise mixed in for good measure. Excellent breakfast. If you are looking for a large corporate hotel chain then not for you but small, local hotel style with caring touch it’s a fit. Secure little complex with parking."
Pili Pili Beach Cabanas
"Good value for money and staff was extremely helpful. I really had a comfortable stay and having the sea at your doorstep is a bonus"
Knysna Hollow Country Estate
"We really enjoyed our stay at Knysna Hollow. The rooms are beautifully-decorated in a gorgeous contemporary style, and everything is impeccably clean and very comfortable! We had a bit of rain during our time in Knysna but being somewhere so comfortable with easy access to delicious food (the on-site restaurant is really good!) was wonderful and restful! There is no spa on site but there is an amazing therapist, Sheila, who visits and will offer massages and facials in your room - this was absolutely heavenly and I could not recommend more! The location is great, within easy reach of lovely Knysna and also 30-40 minute drive from Plett. We did have a small sunny window where we made use of one of the two onsite pools which are gorgeous and immaculately clean. Most importantly, the whole team was warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here."

Brenton on the Rocks
"Such a great place and amazing hospitality thank you. We arrived in rain but still so good. The host helped us with recommendations and such great service "
Hide-Away Guest House
"Lovely host! Great to be given so much of her time and knowledge-made the stay so much better than a faceless hotel where we just get checked in. This is after all a guesthouse and not the Four Seasons! Meant too, that we did not wasted our limited time in the area because what we did was quality. We enjoyed a large room right by the pool with a splendid view. Good toiletries and nice robes! Breakfast a good balance between healthy and holiday treats if you succumb! Although we never had time to use it, the honesty bar and snacks is a great idea. Thank you."
Brenton Haven Beachfront Resort
"We had excellent service at reception and restaurant. The view in Unit 35 was amazing and we could see and hear the sea all the time. The food outstanding and tasty. Wish we could stay longer. Will definitely go back again as the hotel is central to all other activities."
Moncrieff Manor
"This is a beautiful place with a large, comfortable room. Super hosts, who really care about your comfort. The ONLY problem is that the room has a beautiful view over the water, but you have to choose between the view and privacy. Open the curtains if you choose the view (with the large glass doors and windows facing the parking area right next to the main entrance to the house) and other guests walking past watch you having early morning coffee in bed. Or close the curtains for privacy, and forget about the view. (There may be rooms upstairs where this is different, but all the downstairs rooms share this problem.) This was enough of an issue for me to ensure that I will not stay here again."
Kanonkop House
"This was our first stop on our visit to South Africa and it certainly set an exceptional standard to follow. From the moment we arrived Mark, Adele and their team, who have worked there for many years, gave us 100% hospitality and service. Our room was outstanding and overlooked the lagoon. If you are visiting the garden route and Knysna, this is the place to stay without doubt. We will definitely be returning and this wonderful guest house will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you again."
Thebloem Guest Suites by Knysna Paradise Collection
"We had such an amazing experience here! The location, view, accommodation, and staff just blew us away. We were given a surprise upgrade, which was just WOW!Beautiful flowers around the room. A balcony with a spectacular view. Welcome drink and even happy hour, which was brought to our balcony. The best part was breakfast on our balcony. The staff Constance, Xiolio, and Lovemore provided us with such a wonderful service. Nothing was too much for them. They went above and beyond, giving us a luxurious stay. This place was paradise!"
Simola Hotel, Country Club & Spa
"The staff were super friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and nutritious, the facilities impeccable, a massage and facial by Claudia in the spa a must! My only complaint was that I should have stayed longer!"
The Mount Knysna
"Views: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Room:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic stay at The Mount Knysna, which is a small, boutique hotel close to the viewpoint of the two heads. Staff are attentive and the hotel is homely. We were slightly early for check in which was accommodated without mention, and check out was smooth and efficient. Definitely do catch dinner at Second Story, and dig into the hotel’s very good South African wine cellar. We caught a movie at the in house movie theatre, with freshly popped popcorn, drinks and snacks. Breakfast every morning was such a treat too. The pool is heated with a spectacular view of the lagoon. Uber works well in Knysna but we hired a car, and the hotel has free parking. A quaint hotel with personal touches brought by the lovely staff!"
Headlands House Guest Lodge
"We were privileged to stay 4 nights at Headlands House Guest Lodge, a small private establishment with some of the most extraordinary views in Knysna. Waking up with uninterrupted views of the Knysna Heads from the comfort of your bed feels almost surreal — at times you have to touch the window just to remind yourself it is real and not an AI-generated screen saver. What makes this guest house truly special is that it seems to operate beautifully outside the modern tech grid. Guest information is still completed with pen and paper, soft music plays from a CD playe, and the honesty bar is managed with a clipboard and handwritten notes. It creates a rare sense of calm, nostalgia and authenticity that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. The rooms are comfortable, thoughtfully equipped and ideal for short stays. Breakfast is served at small linen-covered tables in a bright dining area with panoramic ocean views. The staff-to-guest ratio feels perfectly balanced — attentive, efficient, warm and eloquent without ever being intrusive. It is the type of place where privacy is respected, yet you always feel genuinely welcome. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the Knysna Heads viewpoints and two local restaurants. Dining at PIZA E VINO nearby gives the area a distinct Amalfi Coast atmosphere. Highly recommended for travellers who appreciate understated luxury, authentic hospitality, slower coastal living and scenic destinations with character rather than commercial glamour."
Portland Manor
"Portland Manor is an absolute gem. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The food was outstanding — both breakfast and dinner were delicious and beautifully prepared. The Manor, Hotel and its surroundings are full of history and charm, offering peace and quiet that feels restorative for the soul. The landscape is breathtaking and the hikes surrounding the property were deeply enriching, celebrating the beauty and spirit of the Knysna forest and its historical ties to Portland Manor and nearby Belvidere. Walking with the silent sounds in the forest, discovering the charming church in Belvidere, and finally reaching the breathtaking ocean views between Brenton-on-Sea and Buffelsbaai created the perfect blend of nature and history. A stay at Portland Manor is so much more than just a getaway, it’s a place to breathe, reflect, and truly rest."
Oyster Creek Lodge
"This place is now called Oyster Creek Lodge, and looks terrific on the web, with a gallery of photos that sadly no longer reflect the lodge as it is today. The original owner has sold it to a Cape Town company, who have no hands-on interest in its upkeep and/or maintenance. The lodge is located well, outside Knysna, but needs a general upgrade to keep it at the top of the star gradings. As a self catering lodge, it contains most of what one is accustomed to finding in such an establishment, but not top of the range equipment. It is totally dependent on mains power, so the load shedding schedule affects your ability to eat in. Fortunately we had our own load shedding lamp, as only one was available in the room. No gas cooker, no aircon, no overhead fan, no cushions on the outside chairs, no shelf in the bathroom for toiletries and toothbrushes, and only a very uncomfortable and low couch inside for relaxing on. What had promised to be a great stay, ended up being a bit of a disappointment. We are unlikely to return for another visit."
Guinea Fowl Lodge - Lagoon & Heads View B&B, Central Knysna
"We were welcomed with a warm smile. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything you need. Great location we walked everywhere. Breakfast was great with an even more amazing view from the deck. We fully enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Thank you to Lucas and team"
