Wingate opened just a few months ago and offers modern rooms. Everything is still new and spotlessly clean. The rooms are spacious with ample storage for suitcases and clothes and are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and a coffee maker (including pods).
The breakfast room is also spacious and comfortably furnished. Unfortunately, the buffet selection is somewhat limited and is based on the usual motel fare of sausages and scrambled eggs, cereal, and make-your-own waffles.
The small pool at the rear of the building is attractively designed but is subject to the constant noise of the highway.

The gathering town is quite a distance away, and you have to drive to the town to have a meal, which is not very convenient.

After checking in, we discovered there was no soap or shower products in the rooms. Asking at the reception, the unfriendly lady explained, the Hotel was "on hold" with the supplier and we need to go buying these products in a store at our own expense. We decided to check out immediately without using the rooms. Following this unexpected experience, we were not at all surprised that we did not got a refund for the booking we had already paid for.

We stayed here in February, and they had no key cards for the rooms, and we had to be walked up to be let into our room. There was also the prior guest's takeout on the table. I let this go because it was a new hotel, and was hoping it was a fluke. With our 2nd stay in May, they had no soap at the sink or in the shower. We were told that it was unknown when replenishments would arrive, so went to Walmart to buy soap ourselves. Absolutely disgusting to think all the people going down for breakfast that have the inability to wash their hands. I am only giving them 2 stars instead of 1 because the front desk was friendly.

The faucets have this weird spray where the water goes all over the place and takes forever to wash. The toilet seat looked as if it had been sized for a different toilet entirely. The internet was sporadic. Now for the truly nasty part. There was no soap in the room at all, and the person at the front desk had no idea when more might be coming in. We ended up going out to Walmart for soap and breakfast bars, since nobody else would be washing their hands, we didn't want to deal with the hotel breakfast. For the record, as per Arizona Department of Health, Title 9, Chapter 8, Article 13, hotels are legally required to provide soap in the rooms. Just for the sake of information.
