A very traditional English hotel, like going back to the 18th century. Good environment, English breakfast, a very tasteful hotel.

The decoration is classic and elegantly British, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The hotel restaurant is also a highlight — great food and good service. Overall, I’d recommend Kettering Park Hotel for a short stay or a one-night stopover.

Cleanliness in the spa isn’t upto scratch . Toilet seat been broken for weeks. Unhygienic way of filling the water dispensers - using the same bucket that dirty cups and glasses are collected in. Beds chairs and tables need cleaning and also move them to clean underneath. Steam cleaning the floors will get the grout clean between the tiles . Flies are a problem because of lack of hygiene

We stayed at this smart-looking chain hotel for a two-night stay whilst in Northamptonshire visiting family. We had previously stayed here on a similar visit several years ago; but on subsequent visits we have stayed elsewhere. Our return to this hotel was much anticipated as we had enjoyed our previous visit here (in September 2017). Again on this trip we did not take advantage of the, we feel, expensive Spa and Treatment facilities. We arrived in the early afternoon after a long and very tiresome journey. Slow motorway travelling is so tedious and frustrating. Our expected 2½ hour journey took well over 4 hours! We hadn’t stopped enroute, so we were hungry, and more than just a bit fractious. We needed a snack meal, a glass of wine, and a sit down to help us to relax into our stay. So, after an efficient check-in and a quick baggage-dump in our room, we headed for the hotel’s very pleasant and up-market bar area. We ordered sandwiches: a ‘Prawn Open Sandwich’ for my Partner and a ‘Thwaites Original beer battered fish finger butty’ for myself. The first bite of my butty confirmed that I had made a bad choice. The fish finger batter was far too thin to provide any, even a slight, but much-needed crispy element to the food. Also the brioche bun made the sandwich extra claggy, so that the ‘sandwich’ had a total lack of a satisfying texture. It served only to sate my appetite; there was just zero enjoyment. It was my mistake, and my Partner’s open sandwich was much the better snack. We had a medium-sized glass of wine each; a very good ‘AIX Rosé’ from Provence, this was much enjoyed by us both; but at £10.30 per 175ml it was perhaps a bit too ‘reassuringly’ expensive. As I had finished driving for the day I also had a glass of ‘Winzer Krems’, a Grüner Veltliner from Austria. This latter white wine ‘read well’ and proved to be very delicate and most pleasant. The presence of a fine-sounding South African Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch indicated that wine at dinner in the evening would be most likely to be rewarding. Drinks over (for now anyway) we took a walk around the outside areas of the hotel, and then strolled beyond and out into the surrounding streets. The lawns, patios and bars in the hotel-grounds are really very pleasant, but there was considerable traffic noise from the busy A14, and the junction (No. 9) with the A509. The hotel sits on the edge of the ‘Kettering South Business Area’, and the final road leading to the hotel is a dead end. As a result the minor roads around the hotel were very quiet. The hotel carpark is certainly large enough, and we parked with ease each time that we returned from our many and various trips to family gatherings and activities. During our stroll we made contact with our family, and agreed that we would have a meet-up during the very early evening, at one of their homes in a nearby town. Having finalised our evening’s itinerary we immediately went to reception and secured a dinner

We stayed at The Kettering Park on 15th and 16th August to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The restaurant service during our first evening meal was very slow and no-one came during the meal to check on us. Towards the end of the long meal, a waitress asked if the food was OK and I showed her the large amount of fat and gristle which I had removed from my sirloin steak and I told her that it was not acceptable. In response, all I was offered was a complimentary drink! We had asked for our room to be serviced early on the second day. It was not attended to at all as the receptionist had forgotten to pass on the request to Housekeeping. The restaurant service on the second evening was even worse! After 2 hours and 20 minutes, I explained to the restaurant manager that our special occasion had been spoilt (which she knew about as I had asked her to take a photo at the start of the meal to mark the occasion) and I then asked if we could order our desserts. On returning to our room, I noticed that we had been billed for a service charge! There is a poster sized menu sited at the entrance to the restaurant on which it states in very small print at the bottom, that a service charge would be applied, not displayed obviously as it should be. The impression I got during our stay was that the hotel was hosting a couple of large groups and did not have enough staff to cope with a few couples in the restaurant. Two days after arriving home, I received a request from the hotel to complete an email survey, which they would respond to. They have not done so, which has prompted me to post this review.

Stayed here for the first time last night as a spa break as I'm heavily pregnant. It was absolutely lovely, the staff were all so friendly and helpful, the pool and spa facilities were way better than I expected and the restaurant was lovely, with an absolutely banging breakfast. Special mention to Emily on front desk who couldn't do enough for me and was probably the nicest front office staff member I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Will definitely be back.

On arrival check in was efficient. Our suite was really nice with welcome toiletries provided and a bottle of Prosecco and card to celebrate my birthday. However there was a string chemical smell which we found out to be sealant used for window replacement. This caused irritation to our throat and eyes. Reported to receptionist and relocated to another room. New room fine with exception of broken safe which could not be repaired. Used spa and had a facial with Scarlett both excellent. Had cocktail and beers in garden and the bar person great personality and attentive. Evening service meal was a disaster over 1 hour for order to be taken and no drinks offered including water! Staff appeared to be overworked and given no direction. Had to complain to receptionist along with others to receive service. Once food arrived 90 mins after sitting waiting the food was good. Breakfast food and service great checkout given reduction on bill as a result of poor service l. In summary what would have been an excellent stay was spoiled by poor service at dinner and v hard to recommend to others.

We arrived and welcomed at reception to receive number 325. In the lovely room they left a birthday card, Prosecco and nice gift of white company mini set. Great start to my surprise birthday weekend treat. Unfortunately after unpacking we kept saying there was a strong smell and a maintenance confirmed the windows were replaced and the adhesive was too strong and overpowering to stay in the room (eye and throat irritated). They moved us to 225 and in hindsight should have put us in there from the start! My husband paid extra for an early check of £25 only to pack again and unpack to move rooms! The maintenance man had to be called again for broken safe and could not fix it, so valuables had to stay with us! Our early check rolled on to 2.30pm. Once in the pool and treatments it was super plus beautiful gardens. We had planned our meal at 8pm so thought go for early drinks in the bar to chose meal given choices from the menu. So all good so far…,seated to a nice table for 2 and waited 1 10 mins for service!! Unfortunately no water on the table or even asked us for drinks, we decided to go bar and get our own. After 1 hour and 10 mins we were so hungry as other couples too. There was lack of food and unfortunately caused frustration to us and others to complain. There seemed to be enough staff but the disorganisation of workers seemed unhappy and felt things not flowed as it should. I went to reception as I did not receive attention of the staff who got the manager. I explained how bad it was to wait over an hour no drinks or food and for another couple too. I think the whole experience finally did it for me trying to celebrate my birthday was such a disappointment and the manager said she would take the food off the bill and gave me a bottle of fizz too. Such a shame the experience of this hotel could have been great but not sure i could recommend to my family or friends happen in what could have been a lovely overnight stay.
