Zanzibar Bay Resort & Spa ★★★★
"Aisha, the restaurant trainee always treated us well during our meals. She was always super cheerful and the friendliest!"
Uroa Beachfront 2BR • Balcony • Free Wi-Fi ★★★
"We stayed from March 10, 2026, to March 31, 2026. The apartments were absolutely gorgeous!!! 🥰 Perfect for a relaxing holiday! The sailors brought in fresh fish every day! 100% cleaning! Tides are a must! Private parking, gated community! Landry…"
Dream of Zanzibar Resort & Spa - Premium All Inclusive ★★★★★
"Great and timely service. Friendly staff. Special mention to Innocent (Reception) and Geoffrey (Dinning area) Beautiful private beach 😔 Distance from the airport. Room lacked vanity kit (Toothpaste, toothbrush, shower cap) All in all, great place, worth the time and money. Will come again. Rating - Strong 8.5/10"
Pongwe Bay Resort ★★★★
"Very good hotel, rooms are clean and always nice decorated with flowers. Perfect hotel for people who want to relax and enjoy the swimming pool. Swimming in the sea is not always possible due to low tide. Even from the peer it is quite shallow and swimming could be difficult."
Treetop by Eight Continents Zanzibar ★★★★★
"The location is a bit far from the city center, but the overall environment and facilities are pretty good."
Pearl Beach Resort by Sansi ★★★
"I absolutely loved the hotel and the rooms; the food was the only downside for me, but everything else was great. The staff is incredible, and I especially want to highlight Nasser—he is an amazing entertainer, a truly good person, and very friendly. The evening entertainment especially the dance performances was super fun."
Maharaja Boutique Hotel Zanzibar ★★★★
"This was a last-minute hotel booking. It's over an hour's drive from the port. To be honest, the hotel was rather basic. We found a huge rat in our room, which terrified us. Also, because they sprayed a lot of insecticide every night for deworming, I had headaches and couldn't sleep well for two nights. The hotel room was also very basic; they put us on the first floor, which was very dark and made for a poor experience. The water was even salty. The service was alright, though."
Avo Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"For me, it was the perfect vacation. Pure relaxation! A small, clean, family-run resort right on the beach. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The professional owners look after their guests. Since I was traveling alone, this gave me a sense of security. The food was very good. I'm a vegetarian, and special requests were accommodated without any problems. The fresh juices, hummus, and curry were addictive. If I come back, I'll definitely stay here again."
Andy's Inn Michamvi ★★
"We liked the hotel; the staff was very polite and helped us with every question. The rooms are spacious and have everything we needed. The road to the beach is not very good, and there's a lot of trash, but that's typical of Zanzibar. We had a great time."

Azao Resort & Spa
"Bad experience from day 1 Spent an aweful lot of money. PAID FOR 4 Star got 2 Star facilities, food and location / accommodation. DIRTY AND POOR maintained resort, including entertainment area, games rooms. Little or no hot water to shower. Hated the place. Overrated and Overpriced. Had to pay extra than quoted for levy also. BAD.. BAD .. BAD DONT GO THERE!"
Moayana Liora Zanzibar
"Our stay at Moayana Liora was absolutely amazing and exceeded all our expectations. The food was truly exceptional – everything was homemade, fresh, and sourced from local farms, giving every meal a unique and authentic flavor. We greatly appreciated the friendly and attentive staff, as well as the wonderful owners, who genuinely care for their guests and create a warm, family-like atmosphere. The hotel is located in a beautiful, peaceful spot away from the large resorts, perfect for those who don’t want to be typical tourists confined to a resort but want to experience a more authentic vacation. The beach is calm and free from constant souvenir vendors, allowing you to fully relax. We wholeheartedly recommend Moayana Liora to anyone seeking peace, tranquility, and a personal touch."
Karibu Beach Resort
"No smiles or warm welcome upon arrival. Treated more as an inconvenience from the start. Extremely disappointed with this stay. I splurged on an ocean view. Only to have a vendor directly below my balcony on the property providing no privacy whatsoever - and additional noise. There were holes in the mosquito nets, providing little protection. The open shower is on a decline that runs water into the vanity and toilet area. The floors are light in color so you cannot see it until you exit the shower and slip. I used every tail in the room to clean up the water. This was communicated with the staff with no apology, and worse - no offer to provide a different room. There were plenty as this was low season. They were up front about "beach boy" encounters But not to the extent I experienced. I was literally corralled buy so many that I could barely make it back to the hotel. There is zero security control over this on the property. There is construction going on on both sides of this property. BIG hotels going up with constant noise until sundown. I could not get out of this place fast enough. I booked and paid for 3 nights. I stayed only one. There was not one penny of reimbursement for any and convenience at all. They do have a non-refundable policy that is clearly stated in bold. At the very least, they should have offered a room that was equal to what I thought I was paying for. Unsafe. Uncomfortable. Unfriendly. In no way whatsoever, is this a quaint little resort. Management was unavailable. I left a personal letter at the desk ( loud TV noise coming from the check and desk - sounded like someone was playing a video game. I also emailed management. All communication was ignored. I sincerely hope this review helps someone else moving forward."
Karanga Bungalows
"Impressed! I loved everything, clean and big rooms, even a Kettle, coffee etc. helpful veryyy kind Personal, very close to the beach and to nice restaurants, breakfast was delicious! I could come again and again!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"
Le Mersenne Zanzibar, Autograph Collection
"The best ocean view with the best amenities"
Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort
"Our stay at Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort was the perfect way to unwind and conclude a truly special family trip. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was serene, private, and effortlessly luxurious. The resort itself is beautifully designed, with lush tropical surroundings and direct access to a pristine beach. Every space feels thoughtfully curated, offering both comfort and a sense of exclusivity. It’s the kind of place where you can completely relax while still enjoying a high level of personalized service. What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the outstanding team. Michelle, the manager, leads with warmth and professionalism, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. Her presence is felt in the smooth, attentive service throughout the resort. The dining experience was a highlight of our stay. The Le Petit Chef dinner was truly out of this world—creative, immersive, and unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Head Chef Mgeni Mzima was outstanding and catered to our every request, going above and beyond to personalize meals for our group. This level of care made every dining experience feel special. A special thank you to the restaurant team—Zamda, Ezra, Simon, Lamadhan, Haluna, Amiliana, Lucas, Enoch, Joseph Vinton, and Joseph—who consistently delivered attentive and friendly service. Every meal felt relaxed yet refined, with great attention to detail. The broader team, including Emanuel, Adhil, Abdullah, and Steven, ensured everything ran seamlessly across the property. Their professionalism and willingness to assist with anything we needed made a real difference. At the bar, Guston and Sriman created a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere, crafting excellent drinks and adding to the overall experience with their friendly personalities. We would also like to recognize our driver, Abu Bhakar, who took excellent care of us throughout our time in Zanzibar. He was reliable, professional, and always made our transfers smooth and stress-free, which added greatly to the overall experience. Tulia Zanzibar offers a wonderful balance of tranquility, personalized service, and unique experiences. It was the ideal setting to relax, reflect, and celebrate time with family. We left feeling refreshed, well cared for, and grateful for the many memorable moments created by such a dedicated team."
Toa Hotel & Spa Zanzibar
"It’s my first time in Zanzibar, I spent two nights at this hotel and a night in another hotel, all I can say is that this hotel is wonderful, rooms are clean, food is nice and above all the staffs are lovely, very friendly and helpful, I’ve been to many hotels in different countries but I can give a high thumb for the staffs of Toa hotel, The General Manager, Lucas that received me upon arrival and the best of all The Front Desk Manager ESTHER, thanks a lot for the hibiscus Juice the day I arrived and the last cup you gave me before I leave, you never knew but it’s my best and I’ll come back for it again in sha Allah. You gave me free wine lucky I don’t drink alcohol I had to return it back to you, thank you so much and I’ll recommend thousands to use your hotel if I have to and I’m sure you’ll never let them down. All the best TOA HOTELS AND SPA."
Zawadi Hotel, Zanzibar
"I have always believed that expensive prices are always good, so I found this restaurant. The general manager is a Canadian girl. She is arrogant, hypocritical and unreasonable. Later I found out that people from the north are extremely unfriendly to Chinese people. I was burned by the hot water from the bathtub faucet and was actually burned by this woman. I was educated on how to take a shower. I was covered in mosquito bites. I was not bitten all the way in Africa. They also charged money for mosquito repellent. Such an expensive hotel doesn’t provide mosquito repellent? ! She doesn't open the door when you come back from going out, making you stand in front of the door for a long time, and the food is very poor. For a Canadian living in a place like Africa, you can imagine her strange attitude."
Shukran Palace
"Absolutely the best place i have ever stayed in the 25 years I have been visiting Zanzibar. Staff, food, room all 5 Star. Highly recommend Shukran Palace."
Bahati Sunset Bungalows Michamvi
"Don't support this place; they abuse animals. I witnessed a staff member take a stick to chase a dog away. I understand the need to poke it, but the staff member started hitting the dog in the head. The dog started whining and running away. Dogs are apparently paralyzed by fear of this staff, too. I've noticed the signs before. I said out loud that I didn't like it, and I couldn't help but write it online."
Amani Villas Nature Retreat
"We spent 6 days in Amani Villa Nature Retreat and are very happy and happy! Whoever really looks for absolute rest and a good portion of luxury is right here! The facility consists of only 4 very large houses , which means more than 8 guests are not possible! At the moment, 4 more houses are being built ,which has not disturbed absolute rest at all ! During our stay, we were the only guests all the time ...!!! So all the staff was only for us ...a luxury ...!! The food, whether breakfast, dinner or intermittent was excellent! Thank you to Adam , our cook ! It is very attentive to sustainability and quiet here ! As for example, water in glass flasks, so much you want and always cold and refreshing So there is no TV ... 2 small deductions in the " B Note " : The W-LAN is a little weak and there is no refrigerator in the accommodation. In summary, we are very enthusiastic and completely satisfied! GAAAANZ important ...wer seeks quiet and complete relaxation is absolutely right here. Whoever wants to have trouble and action is wrong here. Anja and Georg "
Pongwe Beach Hotel
"We were very much in need of a holiday when we arrived at Pongwe Beach Hotel. We flew via Paris, landing in the dark, where we were met by our cheery taxi driver. The journey took a little over an hour and it was midnight by the time we arrived. Shown to our rooms, we collapsed in a heap. The morning was glorious, the tide was gently going out a few steps from our room (book 14 or 15, they are lovely!), birds were singing, and there was a swish-swish that we couldn't identify until we spotted a gardener raking the sand. I dimly remembered staggering across that sand with a heavy bag the night before… We met up with our travelling companion in the dining room. Breakfast was a feast of fruit (mango, papaya, pineapple), yoghurt, and almost any combination of cooked eggs you could wish for. Plus waffles, toast…. There followed almost two weeks of indolence. Walking along the beach, or half way to India at low tide, finding good spots to sit and read under palm-thatched umbrellas. Wherever we sat, a smiling member of the team would always eventually find us, quietly asking if we needed anything. The team. They are what makes Pongwe so special. We were lucky to be there at the close of the season, when there were less guests than usual, and we got to know them all very well. They are smartly dressed, gently spoken, cheerful (despite fasting for Ramadan). Nothing is too much trouble. "Can we..?" we would ask. "Why not?" they would reply. All were exceptional. We learned about the island and Tanzania from them, things we would never have discovered for ourselves. To help you decide….the pool is gorgeous and easy to get in and out of. The beach is private and hassle free. The bedrooms are stunning and new bathrooms are being fitted this year. If you are vertically challenged like me, you might need a step to get into the massive carved bed! There is air-conditioning in every room, and a private veranda with sunloungers. The food is exceptional, there was only one day that we were uninspired by the menu and Pili noticed and asked if we would like fillet steak instead! The bar is well stocked, and Famous Grouse Whisky will be "Famous Goose" forever."
Menai Bay Beach Bungalows
"We stayed for 3 nights. And it was one of the worse experience ever. Hôtel was far away, taxis ride was costly, room was so noisy discotheque next door, waited 2hrs for food. Some of the bad feedback by others were entirely correct. Unless there a change in management, then STAY far AWAY from this place!"
F-Zeen Boutique Hotel Zanzibar
"The staff is very friendly and the meals are excellent. Good place for relaxation. I'd recommend it for couples, businesses and friends"
