Food, resort and room and swimming pools re really perfect.

I hesitated to write a review for a long time, but finally I have to write it. The hotel is quite nice, the staff is also okay. The food was not much for a 5 star hotel, Cocktails at the bars were quite good, although the best were by the pool. Now to my big experience. In the bathroom above the sink there are lamps, the first day I thought they were putting rice in the lights because of the humidity, but then I found out that it was moving and that they were bugs. We went to the reception and asked them to solve it somehow. The gentleman came and made a cone out of paper and poured the bugs in there, but it didn't work very well and we now had bugs everywhere, even in our toothbrushes. Everyone can imagine when bugs are marching in your hygiene items. A big argument broke out and I refused to return to that room. Finally, the hotel manager came and offered us a room change. A visit to the room convinced me that this room was not free of bugs either and the lamp in the bathroom was broken. There was a big argument that there was no room available, but in the end it was, because a guest with suitcases at the reception is not good for the hotel. Please, everyone who stays here, especially check the bathrooms and don't think like me that there is rice in the light. I was told that it was normal. It didn't seem like I was sharing my bathroom with bugs in a 5-star hotel. Blanka Leva

This holiday was a very special birthday treat for 14 nights arrival July 28 2025. We had no idea what to expect but could not have envisaged how lovely it would be. Now I am a retired travel agent and ready to find all sorts of issues on arrival at a new hotel but the Neptune Pwani Beach Resort, Zanzibar was just perfect in every way possible. The location was beautiful with stunning gardens over a huge area so no feeling ever of crowds. Cascading down to a lovely beach extending for ever with white powdery sand, sun beds for everyone and beautiful blue sea to swim in daily. The rooms were heaven, huge with a wonderful four poster bed, really large balcony, lovely large bathroom with shower, daily maid service.....just exceptional. The restaurants and standard of cuisine on an all inclusive basis were absolutely faultless and the choices of delicious meals never ending. The staff were perhaps the nicest, kindest, most helpful I have ever met, there was nothing they would not do or help you with day or night. I have never encountered that to such a standard before. I’m mixed about this hotel … room wasn’t ready when we arrived in time for breakfast (get that, but majority of guests check out early morning). No problem - had planned for that so all had swimming stuff etc and got sunbeds near the beach. Had people swarming all over us. Hubby made the mistake of going to the beach immediately and the ‘Masai’ took him out then demanded money. Not the horror stories we were told after that but still not great. We all went out a day or so later with one of the beach guys in blue tops … that was amazing. Had fab service from MC throughout our stay and couldn’t do enough for us. Made an effort to learn our names on the first day and was genuinely just amazing, friendly, not overbearing or intruding. Loved the room but we had a fair few bloody huge cockroaches., including inside the nets 😭 woke up to our son saying ‘oh wow’ 🤣 Cleaner gave us extra spray so after day 4 all was good. None of us enjoyed the food I hate to say except for the Indian (ate there twice). Booked safari when we were there with TUI … I had done a tonne of research before we went and was convinced we’d book through someone else when we got there, but the amount of people/staff/etc offering literally everything and getting your WhatsApp (hubbys) was next level, and something I’ve never experienced before, so ended up booking with Sam (TUI rep) and she was outstanding. So knowledgeable and helpful. Had the best time on safari (did the overnight) … lodge was absolutely bonkers and a holiday on its own, but we had a great time. Elephants on the complex, but think that’s possibly by chance instead of guaranteed. Can’t walk out of your room here after 8pm cos of wildlife so masi take you back, and loved that. Also did Stone town and prison island but didn’t enjoy … too busy and too much. Overall did we have a blast … yes, always. Would we go back? No. This holiday cost an absolute fortune, and I hate to say it, totally not worth it in my own personal opinion xx

Lovely Zanzibar hotel with a tasty, varied buffet. We loved the Thai restaurant! Friendly, welcoming staff, beautiful sea (tides can limit swims) and a beach needing more setup.
