Elite City Resort ★★★★
"The hotel's decor suggests a vintage feel. Upon entering, the front desk staff provided a warm and polite welcome, specifically pointing out the location of the breakfast area and swimming pool, and offering assistance with arranging taxis if needed. This was a very pleasant experience. However, there were a few less satisfactory aspects: 1. During my two-night stay, the air conditioning was adequate and relatively stable the first night. However, the second night's temperature was inconsistent. It would turn on and become unbearably cold, requiring me to quickly cover myself with the blanket, only to become too hot and need to uncover myself. I spent the entire night waking up alternately between the heat and the cold, resulting in a very poor night's sleep. 2. I came specifically for the hotel's beach and pool, but the beach is across the street from the hotel. This is typical of Kalamata; the beach is on one side of the promenade, while the hotel's bar and restaurant are on the other. So, the opposite side isn't a problem, but there's no designated beach area. Towels have to be requested from the front desk and returned upon returning to the hotel. Towels cannot be freely taken on the beach; you must wear your swimsuit upstairs in the hotel. In reality, it would have been perfectly acceptable for staff to collect towels from the room. Regarding the hotel's swimming pool, it's large and beautiful, but it's only open from 10 AM to 7 PM. If you come back from the beach and feel like you have plenty of time to swim some more, that's impossible. It's rare to find a pool that closes so early. Even hotel guests have to make a purchase to use the pool. We ordered pizza and fries, and left half uneaten. When we came back from swimming, the pool was taken away without our confirmation (our belongings were all on the lounge chairs, and we had just ordered). After complaining to the staff, they gave us extra fries, but only two slices of pizza (the waiter said we only had two slices left, but we actually only ate two slices before swimming). They also gave us two ice creams for the remaining pizza, which wouldn't have been a problem. However, the waiter's attitude changed from apologetic before giving us the extra items to an arrogant, "we're done with you" attitude afterward, which was very unpleasant. In short, for this price, the facilities and service are not good value for money."
Grand Hotel Kalamata ★★★★★
Hotel Ostria ★★★
"Perfect spot, right on the beachfront, in the heart of the city! Everything you may need, (market, taverns, bars, etc), it's within walking distance. Breathtaking views of the Kalamata beach. Most polite and friendly staff! Clean, spacious rooms, well air-conditioned, with basic renovation and basic breakfast. Visited mid-September."
Rex Hotel ★★★★
"We have stayed at the Rex a few times over the years and have been more than satisfied on every occasion. Our room on the 4th floor was on the corner of the building and was flooded with light. The bed was comfortable and the room scrupulously clean. The staff on reception were most helpful in every way. Once I asked where I might buy an English newspaper and the gentleman on the desk not only gave me the information he then rang the shop to check they had one. He then took me outside to show me exactly where the shop was. Breakfast provided an excellent choice and the ladies looking after the room were constantly refilling the platters to ensure there was enough. A particular plus in this hotel is that bar prices are normal and not grossly inflated as in so many other places. We often encountered locals enjoying their morning coffee or evening drink both in the bar and at the tables outside. The hotel is well placed for visiting everything in Kalamata. We enjoyed this visit every bit as much as our earlier visits and we are very grateful to all the staff who provide a wonderful service."
Evripidou 7 - Kalamata Mediterranean Suites ★★★★
Grecotel Filoxenia ★★★★★
"Recently renovated hotel, in a great location on the sea, with 3 beautiful swimming pools and gardens, nice (all new) rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast, extremely nice and attentive staff, perfect place to relax."
Akti Taygetos - Conference Resort ★★★★
"Very nice and clean hotel with small private beach and pool. Location is out of Kalamata, I would recommend to rent a car to reach the hotel and for the trips outside Kalamata. We would like to return next year :)"
Pharae Palace ★★★★
"Location is perfectly located walking distance to all shops and restaurants along ocean side. Staff is very friendly and courteous. The restaurant up stairs is absolutely stunning with the views of ocean. Highly recommend this hotel."
Ira-Hpa Hotel ★★★★
"Even before we arrived for our 4-night stay we knew from the communication we had that we would enjoy our stay, and that’s because the reception staff were amazingly friendly, super competent and thoughtful! The amenities were exceptional too, from the wonderful breakfast bar with local delicacies and accommodation for our dietary requests (vegan, G-F) to the exceptional spa experience, this small city hotel is without a doubt the best choice for business stays or a vacation meant to explore the city and the greater area. P.S. Amazing food at nearby Bodega!"

Mantinia Bay Hotel
"Wonderful hotel across the road from the pebble shore. We were given a big studio with a small kitchen (a 2 burner stove, small refrigerator) table with 4 chairs and a desk area. No usb ports that I found; a few electrical plugs. Huge bed, lots of windows and a patio out one side and the pool with lounges, tables and chairs in front of us. A view across to the sea. The shower area is big and has lots of hot water. The breakfast was wonderful and could be brought to your room or served by the pool. As it's April and too early in the season, the pool is empty. The front desk personnel is friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We dropped in without a reservation and he offered to show me the room and gave a good price 70€ or 80€ with breakfast (2 people). We stayed 2 nights. I'd recommend this hotel!"
Belvedere Hotel
"Extremely disappointing experience with Belvedere Hotel in Kalamata. We had arranged to host a baby shower for a very close friend and confirmed the venue, date, and number of guests by phone. To avoid any misunderstandings, my wife specifically asked for written confirmation, and she was assured everything had been "noted." It had not. On the day of the event, when she called to coordinate the decoration timing, the person in charge first said she thought the booking was for a different day, which made clear that no proper record had been kept. She then told us we could not use the outdoor area because of a possible chance of rain, even though the forecast showed only 10 percent. It did not rain at all. She refused to offer an indoor alternative, claiming the available space was "too large" for our group, and instead suggested we move the event to the next day simply because that suited the hotel's availability. This ignored that everything was already organized and that several guests were traveling from other areas to attend. When we raised this, we were told that written confirmations are only provided for "large events" and that in our case she was doing us "a favor." We never asked for a favor. We expected basic professionalism and proper coordination, and the hotel delivered neither. No accountability, no attempt at a solution, and no apology. For context, we live in the Netherlands. I had genuinely been pleased to find this hotel, because part of my work involves conferences and industry events, and the region looked like somewhere I might consider hosting them. After watching a confirmed gathering of 20 people fall apart, I would never consider it for anything larger or more important. In the end we were fortunate. A higher category hotel on the seafront accommodated us at short notice, on noticeably better and more affordable terms than what we had agreed here. That contrast tells you everything. Based on this experience, I would not trust this hotel with any kind of reservation."
Panellinion Luxury Rooms
"So expensive! The restaurant is a total RIP OFF! 20€ for a pizza with peppers and tomatoes and 20€ for a half plate of spaghetti! 15€ a burger! Owner thinks he is in myconos! Also the service is so delayed (it took 15 minutes to take our order) despite the restaurant was not full! I can imagine if it would be full of people! Plus the owner had almost a fight in front of people with the personel from another restaurant, few days ago"
The Mansion - Kalamata Mediterranean Villas
"Our 3rd time at Kalamata Mediterrean Villas cemented our opinion that the host's, Georgios Andrianos', talent for supplying truly comfortable, well-equipped, happy places to stay for a vacation. The internet performance and speed are exceptionally good, so you could work - but really, why work during a vacation to Greece?-! We stayed in 3 different units, and we were obviously happy in all of them. The staff takes proactive measures when something like the city water supply shuts down for a day. Yes, they made sure to bring drinking water for us when made a "run" on the grocery stores and supermarkets and bought up all the water. This year's unit had a new pool. It was immaculately clean and nice. (Please remember that pools in Europe are rarely heated.) A few words about location: The Kalamata Mediterranean Villas are nicely located about 3 blocks from the southern end of the main shopping and walking street. Their location is "walkable.""
Comfy Boutique Hotel
"Stayed for 4 nights using it as a base to visit Sparta, Mystra & other local historical sites. Very well located a 5 minute walk from the seafront, and a 20 minute fairly pleasant walk into the town centre, the room was spacious and clean with a balcony, there was plenty of available free parking in the side street next to the hotel. Breakfast was typical of the hotels we stayed in in Greece, fairly basic but plenty of coffee & fresh orange juice. Staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't use the rooftop pool, but I did have a look and it was quite nice and clean."
