Cairo Pyramids Hotel

Definitely not 5 star I will try and not become a Karen, but there are things that need to be said. This is definitely not a 5* hotel. It is attached to a 5*. I would say it is 3* quality with perhaps 4* amenities. The entrance hall is large and grand, but it does not make you feel welcome. The reception staff were somber and did not raise a smile throughout the check-in. The rooms are less hotel and more individual garden apartments. It is difficult to get your bearing at first. The rooms are very dated. Despite being non-smoking, the room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. I was offered another room that smelled much better. The second room was identical but the air-con was very noisy, the fridge didn’t work, the bath was filthy and damaged, the shower head was broken and the safe was broken, not joined to any surface and had clear signs of previously being broken into. I asked for a refund so I could leave, but was denied. The pool area is very nice and well kept. A lifeguard is normally on duty and also provides towels. Breakfast is $20 each. There is a souvenir shop with friendly staff. The hotel itself is on a main highway across from the Grand Museum. Overall it is nice enough as long as you are thinking 3*. To be honest, this was the second hotel of our trip to Egypt and the smaller Boutique hotels are much more welcoming. I would give this one a miss.

Khalid at the coffee bar was great! Only complaint is that it was hard to view the area around the hotel due to tour guides insisting you ride with them.
