"Came here with my family to eat, 13:20 h, lunch time. The kids wanted burger, the main reason we came here. Upon ordering we were told that there are no burgers because there are no buns. Apparently no one has the idea that people want to eat burgers for lunch and to organize buns in the supermarket, to make some, or to substitute them with toast or rolls. We were also told that there is no goat meat. We ordered three pizzas. Once the waiter returned from the kitchen, he informed us that they need to make fire in the wood oven and pizzas will take some time, one hour . Let’s see how long it really takes. Why would anyone have pizza? Other than that it’s good to see that staff are enjoying themselves."

"If you are looking for a great accommodation in the Fort Portal/Kibale NP area, look no further! We stayed here for our Chimp Trekking adventure - which is only a 30 minute drive away. You are staying in the midst of nature, on the banks of the ONLY crater lake in the area that still has pristine forest all around! We spotted three different species of monkeys during our stay. Our cottage was beautiful and very clean, nice hot shower and a toilet with an unbeatable view! Food in the restaurant was also great, and very helpful and friendly staff. The road up to the lodge is good. Highly recommended!"

"I had a fantastic stay at Kemrose Hotel in Fort Portal. From check-in to checkout, the experience was smooth and enjoyable. The service was truly great. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with a smile. Nothing felt like too much trouble.. The rooms were very clean and neatly organized, which made for a comfortable and relaxing environment. A special highlight was the in-room percolator, a thoughtful touch for anyone who enjoys brewing their own coffee or tea without having to leave the room. The television worked perfectly (a basic but important comfort after a long day), and everything in the room was in good working order. The Breakfast was of very good quality, with generous portions. Even better, they offer an à la carte menu option, giving you flexibility and choice rather than just a fixed set menu. That’s a level of service you don’t always find in hotels of this size. My Verdict is, Kemrose Hotel delivers exactly what you want, cleanliness, working amenities, friendly staff, and good food. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fort Portal."

"It's an atmospheric place, Dan was very thoughtful in designing it. He elevated most of it so to minimize the disruption to the local birds lizards etc and set it up so that a river down the middle irrigates the whole thing. He used traditional design for the roofs, which provide temperature control and effective rain cover. But get ready to "get local", it's a squat toilet. But it flushes. The food was simple but plentiful. His two staff Kellen and Shakila are kind and attentive. Dan is a cool guy to talk to. He's intentional about preserving local culture while providing authentic experiences to visitors (like our village walk on the way to swim in a Crater lake). Since he also runs a tour company, staying here is a great option for experiences big (safari) and small (our walk, and Dan is keen to introduce people to his village). It's a 10 min ride away from fort portal. All in all, a good stay."

"I had a wonderful stay with the 12 ladies I brought along for our Rwanda & Uganda trip. The lodge is in a stunning location, overlooking Crater Lake. The pictures truly can't capture the beauty of the view – it’s simply breathtaking. I recommend booking a room near the restaurant, as I believe those offer the best views. The room was spacious, and the shower had warm water with great pressure (which isn’t always guaranteed in Africa!). We really appreciated the complimentary laundry service after our hikes. Manager Musa was incredibly helpful and always ready to assist us. We even drank all the white wine during our women’s trip, and Musa managed to restock it for us the next day! Every evening, we had aperitives by the bonfire before dinner. We were the only guests, which made our experience even more special, as we had the whole lodge to ourselves. What a lovely memory – we truly want to come back! We spent three nights here, but we could have easily stayed for a week. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, like chimpanzee trekking, swamp hikes, cultural tours, and boat trips on the crater lake. I definitely recommend this place – try to stay a few extra days to truly enjoy it."

"I spent 4 nights here relaxing after 3 months volunteering in Uganda. A beautiful spot to relax. My bungalow was rustic in keeping with the surrounds but very comfortable on the crater rim looking out on forest and glimpses of the lake. Worked my way through the vegetarian options and enjoyed all of them thanks to Brenda and her team. Beautiful birdsong and a birder's paradise. Watched two Crowned Cranes roosting in the trees from my verandah each day and enjoyed the antics of all 4 varieties of monkeys, and the mongooses and tree squirrels. Did a 6 hour walk with Rogers guiding me to other crater lakes and Mahoma Falls. Lake Nkuruba is clearly the jewel in the crown. Swam in the lake most days and found my way around the trails. Staff all very friendly and helpful. This place is a real gem!"

"A beautiful setting for a simple, cozy, friendly lodge! Rooms are cheerfully decorated with local art and feature decks overlooking the property and pool on one side and the crater lake on the other. A few steps down from the lodge is a terrace overlooking the crater lake, the perfect place to have a bountiful English breakfast before starting out on the day's adventures. The parlor/bar inside is a casual setting for pizza and conversation upon your return. Mark, the lodge manager, was a professional and knowledgeable host, whether finding guides for each day's activities or a good spot for lunch, and his colleague, Rudyard, was an excellent and courteous driver. Bella Vista is a great base location for those planning to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Kazinga Channel and Kibale National Park, etc."

We booked 5 rooms as there were 8 of us. Very reasonable price"
