Ramada by Wyndham Juneau

Stay at ramada was a 4/5 with early check in and nice and supportive staff. Location was near and walkable from downtown. Every excursion pickup point is literally 5-10min walkable from hotel. Only reasons for not giving 5/5 are 1. Room Phone was not working 2. Temperature control of Shower if our room was not working though they did provide alternate room just for shower purpose I would recommend this hotel for nearness to downtown and especially friendly staff

The room was nice and clean and close to the dock but they offer no courier service either to or from the docks of the airport. It’s pretty close to the charming downtown area and other attractions we found. The restaurant is decent even though it has no vegetarian options. We are vegan. The beds are comfortable but the room is extremely hot. There are no individual temperature controls in the rooms. The whole hotel is set to “hot”. We were on the bay side and opening the windows meant letting in traffic and pedestrian noise and the sun which went down sometime after we were in bed. The boiler quit on the day we arrived and we couldn’t shower until late the next day. Fresh from bushwhacking we were muddy and tired and needed a warm shower. I look for a clean quiet room, with nice shower and decent view. It didn’t provide that for us, except for a pleasant view. The iron had melted matter on the bottom so I was afraid to heat it up and have it transfer to my clothes. Also one of two washing machines was out of order as well as the laundry soap dispenser. Again, we were dirty and needed clean clothes. An employee I saw in the hall snagged my some soap and I paid about $5.00 to wash our clothes. The people were nice and polite both in the hotel and in the restaurant. I thought it was overpriced though, especially since we had no water and few services.

I have to say, after my first hotel experience in Juneau, my expectations were low. That didn't need to be the case with this Ramada! The front desk, specifically Linda and Kyra, were so friendly and welcoming with lots of suggestions about how to spend our final afternoon. The room was clean and so large! I appreciated the small touches that made the stay better: extra towels in the closet, two fans, and two luggage racks. Coffee was available at 5 am, when we checked out. This was a lovely stay!

We have done a fair amount of traveling and stayed in many hotels but this was by far the worst. I should preface this by saying the staff was friendly and helpful and that this negative review has nothing to do with them. We paid $375 for one night. After an exhaustive day of travel all we wanted was a clean, quiet place to rest that night and a hot shower in the morning. Our below ground level room was dark and dank and smelled. The TV didn’t work, the bathroom fan sounded like a jet engine, someone was playing really loud music and the guests above sounded like a herd of elephants on steroids. But the final straw was the shower. There was NO hot water. Not one drop no matter how long we ran it. We have stayed in $75/night hotel rooms that seem like the Taj Mahal compared to this one. My advice: DO NOT STAY HERE.

I slept better than I have in months on this bed! The staff was attentive, quick to help and efficient. The room was set up with a pack and play and safe for my one and a half year old daughter which made my own stay much easier. I would gladly stay here again if the opportunity came upon me.

Friendly staff Place was great. Shower pressure and shower head were great after a long day of travel.
