Wikiup Hummingbird Hotel

I had the most amazing time at the Wikiup hotel. -live animals you can feed on premises -hot tubs PLUS a cowboy hotter (private) -close to hiking trails -near the main town -Common Area -Isolated rooms Overall I had an amazing experience the staff was lovely. Gave great advice on local areas to check out and activities. Ashley gave great connections. Put me in contact with local horseback riding and the wolf reservation. The rooms are comfortable and cozy. Any time I come back to the Julian town I plan to stay here.

Cozy, quirky and very, very quiet. We stayed in the StarGazer room. The bed was super comfy and the room was very clean. The bathroom was great....lots of hot water. Julian is a Dark Sky Community and we had hoped to be able to view the night sky. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate! It was rainy, cold, foggy and miserable. The room was lovely but the area around the hotel is extremely dark. Not a lot of outdoor lighting. I recommend bringing a flashlight! And you'll need to be able to climb stairs if you want to stay in this room. The llamas and goats were a fun extra!

what a gem of a place! Chris, the owner, and Ashley, the innkeeper were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in the Willow Warren room for two nights (long weekend, friday to sunday). Very cute place and the llama reserve plus two adorable coats were a plus! easy to drive to Main St, Julian too. The room had everything we need. Cute and rustic - will return! Oh! Pet friendly as well!

We had an amazing stay that surpassed our expectations! We came for our wedding weekend and stayed in the Shady Lady. It was even more charming and beautiful than in the photos, and the patio hot tub was so lovely. It was a perfect and relaxing way to end our wedding night. The bed was super comfortable, the decor was adorable, and we loved feeding the llamas and goats! We took almost as many photos with them as we took at our wedding lol. Chris was super welcoming and accommodating allowing us to check in a little early. He also did a full run down of the room, feeding the animals, and he made sure the hot tub was running perfectly for us. Everything about our stay was just wonderful. We will 100% be back!

This place is magical! My husband and I drove here from San Diego for a couple nights. It was the perfect peaceful getaway. We stayed in the stargazer room with the private hot tub. We had an awesome time exploring Julian, visiting wineries, and relaxing at this hotel. We can’t wait to go back!

If I lived closer I would keep this place as my best kept secret. We stayed in the Stargazer. The room and property were charming, relaxing and clean (satisfying my high bar for cleanliness). The clean part and obvious personal care and touches contributed to a generally relaxed vibe. The view from the room was divine. We woke each morning to an array of birds, Stellar’s Jay, California Scrub Jays, Oak Titmice, Mountain Chickadee, Bushtits, Wrentits and Anna’s hummingbirds were among the species we saw. The birds were attracted to the water features on the property as well as feeders at the adjacent property across the road. Breakfast and lattes at the Julian Cafe were great. We also enjoyed the ambience and craft beer at the Julian Beer Co two of three nights were stayed. The private hot tub was a bonus. I thought the room was priced right and great value.
