"We were extremely disappointed with our experience and would not recommend this venue for a wedding. The property itself was not well maintained. There were areas with standing water containing what appeared to be raw sewage, which created an unpleasant odor and was incredibly concerning for guests. While we understand the lodging is historic and appreciate its charm, that doesn’t excuse the lack of cleanliness. Our room had multiple spiders, dead bugs, dirt, and dusty surfaces. Many of the lodging buildings had dirty windows, bird droppings covering the decks and siding, and an overall neglected appearance. Communication was acceptable until our wedding deposit was paid. After that, it became difficult to get responses, and the level of customer service noticeably declined. During setup, the wedding itself, and teardown, a couple of staff members were unnecessarily rude and unprofessional, adding stress to what should have been a joyful weekend. The venue also breached the contract in several different instances regarding the food and no refund was offered for that. This venue charges premium prices, so we expected a premium experience. Unfortunately, the condition of the property, the lack of cleanliness, the poor communication, and the customer service all fell far short of those expectations. After the wedding a meeting was held and no attempts were made by the venue to reconcile the failures or even apologize for them. For the amount of money couples invest in one of the most important days of their lives, they deserve much better. We cannot recommend this venue based on our experience."
