Hotel is in an excellent location next to the old city of Jerusalem. However, customer service and experience can be better.

: ⸻ I must point out that I’ve been one of the hotel’s loyal guests for over 15 years. Unfortunately, I have to say that the hotel has never sunk to such a low level. There’s no longer even the most basic services, like food by the pool. The breakfast was one of the worst I’ve had, with less variety than an average 4-star hotel. The service from the pool staff was among the worst I’ve ever experienced. And to top it all off, they have a very expensive restaurant on the 4rd floor (Veranda) that smells like sewage and serves food that tastes like it came from a school cafeteria — but at 5-star++ prices. I’m never coming back. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had

the friday night shabbat dinner extravaganza was just perfect! i was hosting a group from abroad and this was the perfect experience: the close walking distance from the kotel (western wall), the elegant dining room, the attentive and professional staff, the super clean and luxurious wcs, and... the food!! the presentation was artistic, the tastes were fresh and delicious! this was also a fun cultural adventure: seeing and eaten along side many Jewish families celebrating the shabbat and most were celebrating a family occasion was delightful. i have eaten many a friday night meal at five star hotels in jerusalem, and this far surpassed them all. if you have the budget: dont hesitate!

I stayed at the Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, and I can honestly say it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had — especially from a place that claims to be a 5-star luxury property. From the moment I entered the room, I felt let down. The carpet was dirty, sticky, and clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. The room was extremely dark, with a depressing atmosphere. The overall condition felt neglected and tired. And the noise? Every morning, I was woken up around 7 AM by loud hammering somewhere in the hotel — no soundproofing at all. It felt like I was staying in the middle of a construction zone. The housekeeping is mediocre at best. Every day, the housekeeper would simply throw any clothes or belongings left on the bed onto the armchair — no folding, no care, no organization. Just thrown aside. It felt careless and rushed, not what you expect from a hotel at this level. There’s no turndown service. Again, not essential — but when you're paying for a 5-star experience, it's these details that make a difference. And they’re just not there. Breakfast was another major disappointment. A small, uninspiring buffet with very limited options, considering the size and supposed standard of the hotel. The service was indifferent and slow, and overall it felt more like a basic cafeteria than a luxury hotel breakfast. And then, as if that weren’t enough, I came back to the hotel late one night, tired and hungry, and discovered there was no room service at all. The restaurant closes at 10 PM, and there is literally nothing available after that. Not even a small late-night menu or a snack. I turned to the minibar hoping to find at least a bottle of water — and it was completely empty. The only thing inside was a random almond milk left behind by a previous guest. Truly disgusting. I then tried to call the reception to request a bottle of water — and discovered that the phone in the room has no extensions listed. No way to contact front desk, housekeeping, anything. I searched the room for a hotel directory — and found the binder, only to see that the entire “Hotel Services” section was completely empty. Just blank pages where the information should be. I was left with no way to reach anyone for help. This hotel is running entirely on its past reputation. There is nothing luxurious about the current reality. Poor service, neglected rooms, a complete lack of hospitality, and absolutely no attention to detail. I regret staying here. I would never return — not even if it were free. If you’re looking for a true 5-star experience in Jerusalem, look elsewhere. This is not

I’ve stayed at the David Citadel several times now, and every single time, the reason I keep coming back is Ilan, the concierge. He’s simply the best! No matter what we need — whether it’s last-minute dinner reservations, special arrangements, or just helpful advice — Ilan always goes above and beyond. He makes us feel like true VIPs, and it’s that level of care and attention that makes all the difference. Honestly, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Jerusalem. Thank you Ilan for making every visit so special!

We came for my sons bar mitzvah with our three kids. Everyone at the hotel was extremely accommodating and kind. We had a wonderful time and it was a very comfortable stay. Carol at the kids club was particularly fantastic! She takes so much joy in playing with the kids

Great experience. Especially our server at the restaurant, Said who took care of all our needs. Attentive with a smile. Other than breakfast the hotel is in a great location and has a great pool and a great playroom for the kids. I recommend this hotel.
