We made a last minute spontaneous reservation. We’re not previously familiar with the hotel. Reception was warm & friendly. Room was ready, very clean and lovely decor. We got a balcony room (upgrade) and that really added to our experience. Comfy bed & great shower. We’ll be back.

DO NOT STAY AT THE BROWN. We reserved a room for our anniversary. Upon arrival, we found out the hotel was closed to guests. When speaking to the staff they were rude, unhelpful and just lacking empathy. They alleged they tried to call us (one time, from a number which we couldn’t call back). We did not receive any texts or messages on booking. We did get a refund and they did offer to try and find a room in one of their hotel hotels, but they did not suit us and they were in different areas of the city entirely. In sum, an utter and complete mess. To top it off, the bathroom was disgusting, with no toilet paper. When we said something, they said “Well the hotel is closed”. Horrible!

This hotel simply isn’t worth the price. The room was small and not particularly clean, the staff was not welcoming, and we were deeply disappointed.

The hotel has a lot of potential: it’s ideally situated. That being said, the hotel itself is very poorly maintained and a lot of things are broken or damaged (see my pictures). The staff were very friendly but given the poor state of maintenance, it’s clear that the hotel’s manager is not doing their job properly. The pool area is dirty and used to store random things. The bathroom sink was clogged. The window handle in our room fell off. Lots of glassware around the hotel is chipped. Overall the hotel just looks and feels very tired. It’s definitely unfit for a rating of anything above 3 stars.
