The most beautiful ryokan we stayed at in Japan.
The dinner was delicious. The room was gorgeous. The staff were excellent. I spent my birthday here and the hotel staff shuttled us to and from Harvest Hill. It was amazing to have such thoughtful and helpful staff, they made my birthday the best one yet! I wish I could've stayed longer!

A beautiful and tranquil property. We stopped for two nights on our way to another inn north of Kyoto, because it is quite close to the airport (45 minutes drive) and we didn't want to drive all the way to the other property at night when we got in. The grounds are lovely and there's a beautiful stream that runs just behind it. We could hear the flow of the water from our room which was very relaxing. The room is spotless and spacious. We had a suite that is designed and appointed in the modern Japanese style. There are futon on tatami for sleeping and there is a big window with sliding doors that look out onto the lovely stream. So nice. I love the bathtub that has the ability to keep the water at a constant warm temperature! Amazing! The staff are super friendly and accommodating. We messaged to say that we might be arriving a bit later than first advised and they were responsive and totally fine with it. They serve a lovely, nutritious breakfast each morning in a quite austere but very pleasant dining room where you have an amazing view on the gardens. There is a small town about 15 minutes drive from the villa. There you can do some basic shopping (Lalaport Mall) and there is a supermarket if you want to self cater. And a Uniqlo if you need some pyjamas or something :) This is the perfect place to unwind and appreciate the beautiful surrounds. Would absolutely recommend if you're looking to reconnect with nature and quietness.

I booked two nights for the cherry blossom trip, and the magical experience on the second night made me realize what "expensive humiliation" means: **1.
