The Palms Oceanfront Hotel

Room was clean. Breakfast was weak. Elevator was broken part of the time and the pool was not great

I was super pleased with our stay! We got a very reasonable price on our stay so I was a little nervous to see the place and I was so very happy we chose to stay here! The staff was great, the hotel was clean, and the location couldn’t have been better! The only complaint we had was the elevator took forever and was not air conditioned so we used the steps which the stairwells are also not air conditioned. They had maintenance people painting rooms and doors keeping the place looking nice so they definitely care about the look and they guests so hopefully they can help this in the near future… I looked at a crazy about of places before we booked and I read reviews on every single one so I hope to help someone else with reassurance that this is a great place to stay! 5 stars!

My family stayed here in July: 2 adults / 2 kids. (8&9) I went in with low expectations due to hit or miss reviews. Room = clean. Location = amazing. We walked to the shops, bars with live music, restaurants. Parking is limited as mentioned, but they have 2 extra lot options and we didn't think it was a big deal. Breakfast was perfect for the kids: pancakes, cereal, bagels. Pool = small, but that didn't stop our kids. It was actually so wonderful during high tide in the middle of the day. We bought sand toys and boogie boards across the street at the shop and the kids loved playing with them in the ocean. We also used the local company that the front desk recommends for chairs/umbrellas one day and they did an excellent job/stress-free. The kids also enjoyed looking for crabs at night after dark on the beach. Having 1 elevator was probably the biggest downfall. We tried to use the stairs as often as we could (they are in the front and back of hotel) so that those with luggage or trouble with stairs could have access since it's super slow and takes awhile to get. If pricing isn't too bad- try and do oceanfront.

Stayed here with high hopes. Smelled musty. It was clean inside. No hot water for shower. It really was like a cleaner cheap hotel for resort costs. Literally, the harbor resort was cheaper. Thankfully, we had a nearby chain slightly inland that was 1/3 of the cost and we could still be at the beach within 6 minutes. Save your money- go inland.

Best location, everything within a few minutes, walking distance, beach, several restaurants, shopping, ice cream, etc. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly. The continental breakfast was a plus.

First....the bad. We started out in room 122. The hallway to the room was a dark oven. Dark, dingy and very, very hot. The room, call an interior room was dark and dingy. There was only one window that looked out onto the dark, dingy hallway. Since people were always using the hall (as to be expected) we had to keep the shutters closed or they could see straight into the room. The room was very outdated and the air conditioning unit was very loud. Everything in the room needed updating. The shower had cracks and chips and was very old. The stairwells were moldy, sandy, rusted, dingy, smelly and gross. Some of the handles for the doors leading out of the stairways were pointed down, out of place and hard to use and falling off. The body wash, shampoo and conditioner smelled so bad that we couldn't use them. It was called drift and it smelled like a combination of medicine and cheap man. We had to go out and buy our own. We didn't even try the breakfast because we wanted to be out of this hotel as much as possible. I don't consider myself to be picky, but this hotel seemed like what I would imagine a truck stop to be like. The good.....the location is very convenient. After the first day, we asked if there was anything with a window to the outside. The lady at the desk, Stephanie, was so helpful and so kind. We were so impressed with her. She said a room would be available for an upgrade the following day. We moved to room 311 and it was much better because it had a sliding glass door to a balcony so we got light, which was much needed. When we started taking showers, we realized the shower was clogged. The next morning we told Stephanie and she got maintenance to fix it so that was good. Also, the AC unit would randomly cut off leaving the room very hot. That issue was never resolved but it would eventually kick on again after moving it to the dry mode. I'm neutral on the parking. It really didn't bother me nearly as much as the dark and dingy room. The review gets 2 stars because of how great Stephanie was-otherwise it would be a one. The location and Stephanie were bright spots. If you are going to stay here, made sure you get a room with a window to the outside.
