Pousada Xalés de Maracaípe

I stumbled onto this place originally and liked it so much that I chose it again when doing the planning of my latest trip to Brazil. It's grown a bit but still has the charma of a mid-size resort. The restaurant still offers fine local food at a fair price and live music soloists on some nights. The service is friendly and hard working. Wild peacocks, horses, and sunsets make for a romantic evening. Horseback riding, surfing, and beach tennis are all popular. The oceanfront beaches are clean and inviting. Plenty of hammocks lounge chairs and cabanas for poolside enjoyment. The variety of chalés fits all possibilities. Plenty of mature trees offer shade from the days hot sun. Short walks down the beach offer a change of scenery and excursions to the natural pools holding marine life. What a treat being only an hour or so from Receife and 15 min from Porta de Galinha.

Place is amazing for a relaxed holiday by the beach. The xalés are nothing luxurious yet super cozy and comfortable, but the best part is really the garden once you open the door - 2 pools, hamacs and sun beds in almost every tree to lay down and enjoy the sun, volleyball/beach padel net and the beach right in front. Restaurant is fine, just a bit too slow in the service.

Our experience at the hotel was positive! The xales were overall nice and cozy. The only thing we would have liked was more options for curtains. The beach is beautiful! It has strong waves, so that could be something to look out for. However, during the low tide, it's great! Breakfast was fine. The restaurant was ok, but a bit overpriced. In regard to service, it was also fine. Not the best, but they did help us with everything we needed. I consider the stay very good, especially because of the price!

I was traveling with two others, on the way to a wedding. We had the best time here! The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was fantastic- we loved all of our food there, and occasionally they hosted musician who played lovely ambiance music. Breakfasts were delicious! None of us know much Portuguese, and the staff didn't know much English, but we were able to get by with google translate. Everyone was very patient and accommodating for us. The location was perfect for our stay. The beach access is incredible, and there weren't a ton of people on it. The waves by the beach are pretty strong, so they weren't great for a casual swim; but we enjoyed walking along it- the sand is soft and smooth. We could walk just a little ways on the beach to the Pontal de Maracaipe, which had plenty of shallow water to hang out and swim in. We also went at low tide and were able to walk way out to the the natural pools and do some tide pool creature searching. Definitely bring water sandals/shoes for that portion, the reef isn't feet friendly. I think we were there in an off season because we didn't have many sales people or raft tours available, but we still had fun. Trips into Porto de Galinhas were quick and easy with uber. It's a beachy touristy town, with tons of little shops, cute umbrella shades, plenty of photo ops, and delicious restaurants. I would absolutely come here to stay again!
