"We stayed one night at Apex City of Bath Hotel. The location is excellent, and the night‑shift manager was quick to respond when we raised our complaint, however our overall experience was really poor because of repeated hygiene problems with the beds. It was nearly 11 pm and we were ready for sleep, when we discovered mould‑like marks on the bed sheets in our original room. We contacted the duty manager straight away, and we were moved to a different room without delay. Unfortunately, on arriving at the new room, we found hair left on the fresh bed sheets. We were exhausted and very late in the evening; otherwise we would have asked to check out entirely. A member of staff then came to replace the full set of bedding for us. During the bedding change, further issues were uncovered: visible yellow stains on the mattress underneath, and yellow stains also on the duvet itself. While the staff tried their best to resolve the situation at such a late hour, it is unacceptable for a 4‑star hotel to have multiple bedding‑related cleanliness failures across two separate rooms. We felt uncomfortable for the rest of our night. We hope the hotel will carry out a full review of its housekeeping standards and mattress / duvet condition."

"The hotel's location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the Roman Baths. This hotel directly pipes natural thermal water into the property, making it very convenient to take the elevator from your room down to the -2 level for a soak. However, guests only get free access to the hot springs during two time slots: 8:00-10:00 AM and 7:00-9:00 PM. Outside these hours, it costs £70, which is quite steep. There are three pools in total, plus a sauna and steam room. Overall, it's pretty good. One thing to note: the room and service fees were already paid through Ctrip. Upon check-in, a £100 deposit was taken. At check-out, the staff tried to charge a £10 service fee. If you haven't incurred any additional charges, you can refuse this unreasonable request."

"The location is absolutely perfect! You can park right outside the hotel on the street. It's incredibly close to the abbey, Roman Baths, the century-old bakery, and the train station – literally a 2-minute walk. You could say the attractions are right behind and diagonally across from the hotel. The room decor is very British, charming, and cozy. The service was excellent too. The front desk staff helped carry our luggage to the room and even chatted with us about his trip to Beijing many years ago, speaking a few Chinese greetings. The restaurant staff also kindly helped us get hot water for instant noodles. Everyone was very enthusiastic. Breakfast was an à la carte English breakfast, complemented by a self-service area with drinks and bread. Bath truly deserves an extra day!"

"This hotel is part of a chain, so you can count on the quality being consistent across the board. Its prime location in the heart of the old town makes it incredibly convenient for walking to the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and the River Avon. Despite early May not being peak season, the hotel was quite popular with a high occupancy rate. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in the lobby, and while it can get very busy during peak hours, it's always well-organized. They offer a full English breakfast with all the usual trimmings. The rooms aren't small, but trying to open and lay flat two 28-inch suitcases might feel a bit cramped. We booked two twin rooms and one double room, staying for two nights, and found all the services to be excellent – clean, tidy, and quiet."

"Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109. "Stayed in the hideout suite, which was beautiful , bottle of fiiz left in the room on ice, which is a nice touch , the only issue was the hot tub temperature was too hot with no way of regulating so couldn’t use"

"This is a charming historic mansion with great character; while the facilities are a bit dated, the exterior and outdoor scenery are super nice. Free parking makes it perfect for those driving, it is only a short drive from the Bath city center. The traditional-style hotel bar was quiet and moody, it stays open until 11pm, allowing us to enjoy a drink even after arriving late from dinner. The room size was decent and the heating worked well; the bathroom featured a bathtub though it took some time for the hot water to start flowing properly. Unfortunately, a false fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, which disrupted our sleep, but since we were only staying for one night and checking out early, I didn't raise the issue. It was a classic ”old hotel” experience as expected, and the exceptionally warm and friendly attitude of the front desk staff made up for the hiccups, though my expectations might be higher if I were staying for a longer period."

"Enjoyed the stay. I came here with two friends and I stayed in a room by myself. Spacious and clean room even tho some touch up in the bathroom would be nice. Very friendly staff from the moment we checked in till we checked out. Lovely spa facilities. Beautiful hotel. Safe area as we walked to the city centre and back at different times. Quiet but safe."

"The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of Bath city center and very close to the famous Roman Baths. There was some renovation work happening on the exterior during our stay, but it didn't affect us at all. The hotel design is excellent, with modern facilities, and the staff were incredibly polite, even proactively offering recommendations for popular attractions and itineraries, which was a huge plus! The only downside was that the room was a bit small, and a slightly larger suitcase made it feel a bit inconvenient."
