Although many people don't have good reviews of it, I'm going to give it high marks. It's not far from the city centre and is cheaper than other hotels. The room is clean and spacious and staff are friendly. It also offers free toiletries at the reception. I especially recommend this place for students who are coming to Edinburgh for traveling, as it has no difference from other student flats!

When we checked in, the complimentary tray at reception was nearly empty. We didn’t even realize they provided complimentary shampoo and body wash because the staff didn’t mention it—they only asked if we needed towels. As photographers on a business trip with bags full of gear, we didn't have space to carry our own toiletries, so we ended up having to shower without any.
The next morning, as we were checking out, we noticed that there actually were complimentary shampoos and body wash available. It’s really important that the reception staff inform guests about these amenities at check-in and ensure the tray is restocked promptly. Otherwise, it’s unfair that some guests miss out on these essential items. It was a bit frustrating to say the least.

Good hotel all round. Good location, especially for a day at the zoo or to watch Scotland play rugby. It is easy to get to the city centre too.
The room we had was big and clean. Bed was comfortable and there was a big telly.
Didn’t get a chance to use it but there is a pool.

I believe there are short staff... Check in and check out time is really Short (stay over in the room) You can check in after 3pm and check out before 11am.. room smelly maybe from the carpet. Toilet slightly dirty. Breakfast needs to add additional cost if you want or you can take their packages. Whatever it is, this is your call and you choose it. Don't compare too much. I hope management will do something for a better guest experience. Keep it up.

The price is affordable, and the location is about 30 minutes' walk from the train station. There are supermarkets and bus stops downstairs and around. The room has no air conditioning and is relatively small. The bed will be crowded for two people. It is clean. The soundproofing is not good so I often wake up. If you are looking for cost-effectiveness, you can choose to stay for 2-3 nights (no more), but if you are looking for quality, forget it.

Have visited Melville and had fantastic experiences ,and have recommended the castle to family and friends who also enjoyed. Visited on the 13th January met by a not very happy front of house. My 89 year old mother also stayed …my mum had something to eat , dinner came we asked for condiments waiter returned minus cutlery 10 minutes passed cutlery at last. We sat in the bar for a drink were met with sorry no brandy or Guinness not the bartender’s fault. Quests at one point were waiting at the bar whilst the bartender collected glasses elsewhere again not his fault. Morning came mums full Scottish was excellent I had smoked haddock that was inedible poached egg was fine , no side plates for toast . Check out was the worst once again an unhappy front of house . I queried the bill which was£130 more than we had purchased she asked if I was sure and could it be ordered from my mums room. She said she needed to talk with manager. Who asked her to check out all invoices after approximately 15 mins I had had enough, my partner went to deal with this issue again left waiting we decided to leave his bank card and left . On the way home we received a call the the same woman to give us the good news that we only had to pay for what we had like she did us a favour!! Most of the staff were lovely just need proper training. Would not recommend or return.

The room was clean the downside is that the room was cold and the heater air conditioner wasn't working properly it would have some warm air then go cold. When I told them on check out they told me that I should have asked for a heater when I checked in, as the unit is only an air conditioner not what it says on the instructions and should of been told this when I checked in. The breakfast wasn't great the bacon was cooked wrapped up so it was hard and the hash browns were dry so you could tell they were cooked in the oven the tomatoes were just warm, a good variety though with cooked, cereals, yogurts, fruits and pastries.

We visited Edinburgh for New Years and stayed for four nights leading up to it - the hotel was beautiful and cozy and the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay really special! There were so many nice little thoughtful touches throughout our time here. It was very easy to get to the city from here - and also very close and easy to hike Arthurs Seat. We would happily return here again, it was really lovely.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. I've been going to Edinburgh for well over 30 years and stayed on this occasion for my 50th. I could not have picked a nicer place. Friendly family ran hotel, nothing too much trouble. Our room was just perfect. Huge room a very comfy bed and modern bathroom. The location is perfect, being right by Haymarket Train Station and the tram system. Believe me, I've stayed right in the centre and down Leith end but this location is perfect, close to the main centre but quiet enough of a night. Keep up the fabulous work, I'll be back.

Great
YYunduanderizi21A very traditional, elegant, ancient and solemn hotel, the overall feeling is very good!
The location is very convenient. After exiting the Waverley train station, you can reach the hotel in less than 5 minutes on foot. The entrance is very eye-catching. It's just a big uphill walk, and it will be a bit strenuous if you push a large piece of luggage. It only takes 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the castle.
The hotel lobby is very traditional, and the characteristic bonfire hall seems to have entered Santa Claus's home. The lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and introduced the various facilities in the room in detail. Because Scotland is still quite cold, I didn't feel it when I turned on the heating in the room to the maximum. In the morning, a traditional English breakfast on the first floor of the hotel is absolutely amazing. There is a western restaurant with candlelight dinner next to the hotel, where you can enjoy a sweet world for two! 😍😍

DDanielVery very satisfied.
Location. I like this. Although not in the middle of the city, but its very easy to go there by bus and stop at commonwealth pool.
There are 2 entrance via holyrood park rd and Dalkeith rd.
To go there with luggage, after bus stop. Walk to Holyrood park rd and entrance via main entrance. You will see the reception centre.
GGuest UserGreat location for our trip to celebrate Hogmanay. You can’t get a better location for the festivities for the Princess street party. Traveling with a baby, they already had the cot in the room before we had arrived which was great. The staff were super kind and attentive at concierge and reception. Breakfast had a good selection if you a hot Scottish breakfast. Only downside was the parking which was a 5 min drive away ( we weren’t packing light!) Overall, solid experience

GGuest UserThe overall performance of the hotel is a bit over the average level. The most satisfactory point of it is the location. It is very convenient for the guests to wander about the old castle area. They can go to the sightseeing attraction and to the tourist information centre easily. There are also different kinds of restaurants. So people have wider choices to choose their meals.

GGuest UserAwful hotel that is definitely not 4* and the service is not at Hilton level at all….
The hotel goes under the renovation and there were only 2 lifts with queues and they are also used by the staff too
We had a room for 3 people and had all set up for two people only, the room was dirty with hair in the shower and the ceiling.
When I took the shower the pipe was blocked and the water started to leak to the bathroom… yes they sorted the problem quite quickly but still was not great experience
There were no slippers and bathrobes. I asked for x3 slippers and they brought only one pair. I asked again and they brought only one pair again. On the third time they brought two pairs…. When I asked for 3!!! And still no bathrobes. We asked for additional blanket and it was in a random location after the room was cleaned.
The room was cleaned badly on the next day we stayed. My pajamas was thrown elsewhere and I found it on the table, the towels we put on the floor to be replaced were fold dirty on the shelves… the blanket was in a random location and the cleaner did not pay any attention at all left the room dirty. Very disrespectful
I felt that I had to beg for the things we are supposed to get in this kind of hotels. Shocking!!!
Yes they compensated with a complimentary breakfast which was good but still the service was bad. They sent the cleaner and by the time she came we were already sleeping. And she did not speak any English … very disappointed

EEsraThe building was good and the view was great; it was the best part of staying this hotel. Unfortunately room service was so bad. We stayed there 4nights; first we thought maybe they just hovered the room because the room wasn’t cleaned. Next day it was same so I told it to reception and then finally next day they cleaned it.. but again it wasn’t a full cleaning (they didn’t hover or clean the dust; just tidy the room and clean bathroom) So I can say room cleaning service is a disaster. But I also want to add reception stuff were helpful and friendly. Last thing hotel needs a quick make up; especially bathrooms are very old.

GGuest UserI had a fantastic experience staying at YOTEL Edinburgh! The location is perfect—right in the heart of the city, close to all the major attractions, restaurants, and public transport. The check-in process was smooth and quick, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
The room was clean, modern, and very well-designed with smart space-saving features. I especially loved the adjustable smart bed and the mood lighting—super cool and comfortable! The Wi-Fi was fast, and the TV had great entertainment options.

TtszchingThe time required to walk from the train station to the hotel is about 20 mins.
There are some stores near the hotel.
There are 2 floors for the hotel. We live in a room on the 1st floor. The size is decent and the equipment is sufficient. However, the window is at the height of a peoples's head. The people outside can easily look into the room and privacy is a issue.
Also, there are some problems in the bathroom. The light in the bathroom is automatic and this is a disadvantage. When I sit on the toilet, the sensor in the bathroom cannot detect my movement and will turn the light off every minute. It will be a lot better if I can switch the lights on manually. Also, the method of changing the temperature of the shower is very unhuman.
Overall, it is a fine aparthotel but there are some problems
