B&B Hotel Caen Sud

We arrived very late. The hotel is more an American motel with no lift and its proximity to a very busy road meant it was noisy. The entire hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment and it was a hot night when we checked in and there was no air conditioning. If you leave the window open people could easily get into your room. The bathroom as well as the bedroom was in need of complete refurbishment. Breakfast was quite good and the guy on reception was very helpful. However the area to get food items was very cramped but the selection was good. The bacon and scrambled eggs were great. Surprisingly.

Cheap room and greet breakfast The pros: great, friendly staff, good breakfast for the price, bed is comfy, family room really well set out (two singles up on a mezzanine for the kids), right next to a massive supermarket, fairly cheap, easy to get to. The cons: a bit tired, mould on the curtains and bathroom, holes in towels, right next to dual carriageway and very hot rooms

Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. During our stay, the weather was extremely hot, and the hotel rooms did not have air conditioning. Although a fan was provided in our room, it was broken, making the situation unbearable. When I informed the only staff member on duty, she mentioned that she couldn't replace or fix the fan until the next day. However, we were scheduled to check out the following morning, so this did nothing to alleviate the discomfort we faced. The heat in the room was so intense that we couldn’t sleep at all. Other guests around us were also struggling, with many leaving their doors open to try and get some airflow into their rooms. It was clear that many were unhappy with the situation, and some even mentioned that they would also be filing complaints. Our night was so uncomfortable that we ended up sleeping on the ferry during our travels the next day because we were completely exhausted. This made our overall experience very inconvenient and frustrating. I hope you will take this feedback seriously, as the lack of comfort and service significantly impacted our stay. Very basic service. Breakfast was missing a number of items at 9:00 am. The area is very noisy. However, for the price and for being a B&B we could not expect much more. We stayed only for one night, which was okay.
