Huangshan Paiyun Hotel Reviews

The hotel was located in an awkward area, which isn’t easily accessed when the nearby cable car isn’t active. I wish we’d been told when booking. We had to hike over an hour just to arrive at the hotel, lugging our luggage. You can pay to have workers carry it (which felt so wrong but we physically couldn’t carry it back). The hotel assisted in this, which was nice—but suddenly, we found the price climbing higher and higher as we talked with them. The restaurant food wasn’t great, either. I don’t eat meat and I about near starved, haha. There was smoking inside too, which wasn’t pleasant. The room itself was nice for a night. There were jackets and torches inside, the hotel alerted us to the weather conditions. All in all, a bit of a mixed bag!

Nice cosy hotel at the base of Danxia Peak and entrance of Yihuan of Xihai Valley. The hotel has no lift, got to climb stairs; we stayed on 6th floor, a little tiring after trekking Huangshan. The breakfast and buffet dinner are sumptuous. Friendly staff.

Although the price is definitely a little high, it makes sense for a hotel situated on top of a mountain. The public areas were bright and spotless. The room I booked was comfortable and mostly clean. The bathroom did have bits of black on the ceiling. Can’t beat the location though, as it’s close to a great spot to watch the sunset/sunrise. Appreciate especially the helpful service and timely communication from Kai at the front desk, who was also kind enough to share his photography of the night sky. I was able to get a few cool shots at a scenic outlook he had recommended. Maybe because I went a little late, but the dinner buffet was pretty mediocre. Overall a very good stay. Would book again, but maybe choose other food options.

Located on the north side of the mountain, we found this area a welcome relief from the madding crowds south of the summit. The hotel is expensive for a basic room but you are paying for the location. There is a nice peak nearby for sunrise/sunset viewing or stargazing.

Hotel was great - particularly as it's on top of a mountain - and that in itself is special! Costs for everything are expensive but fair considering the location. The room is fairly small (but very functional), you won't need space as you won't have luggage. Room comes with warm jackets and a torch so you don't need to bring those things for a sunset/sunrise. We were in what seemed like a newer block so the interior was modern. Shower was hot and decent. Breakfast and dinner (180 yuan per person) had impressive variety considering everything gets up the mountain on a cable car and then manually carried to the hotel. Location is good as it's next to the Taiping cableway but we walked from the popular Yuping cableway carrying small overnight packs. It is very possible in one day! We descended the next day via the Yungu cableway which was a much easier walk. Note the closest lookout for both is a 20min uphill walk with the path starting from the hotel (and another path for those who aren't staying there.) We saw a spectacular sunset and not much of a sunrise. Both were well worth it but of course you're at the mercy of the weather. Receptionists could speak basic English and will also give you bottles of water and communicate weather and sunset conditions to you via WeChat. If you can't understand Mandarin you can use the translate function in WeChat. Free laundry service too but we didn't use it.

Very nice place at the top of mountain. Near the peak to view sunset and sunrise. Staff can use English to support on Wechat very well. Food in restaurant is good. Staff also nice. Recomment to buy the buffet ticket for dinner (180y/pax) instead of À la carte (same food with buffet).

We got a family room at the hotel. The kids liked it, a double bed and a bunk bed. With room for sitting area. Very conveniently located to several sites that is excellent for watching sun rise. The design of hotel is pretty cool and the service was excellent. The staff at front desk 小夏 was very helpful and gave some great advice on the local attraction and various routes. Overall great stay.

Excellent location. Just 2 mins from north cable car station. Very considerate staff who went out to provide room service during peak hour as we have an unwell member who did not want to go to the restaurant.

Pros: great location. Super close to Paiyun Ting to watch sunset. The manager there is friendly and helpful with a serving heart. We appreciate that. Cons: no elevators inside the hotel. Some guests smoke inside the hotel.

We had a pleasant stay here. Breakfast was sumptuous and the staff (Wei Wei) was extremely helpful and friendly during our stay. Wei Wei provided us with sunrise and sunset timing and probability of seeing it and planned our hiking route for us. We would definitely visit again if we had the chance!

Very modern and clean. Family room is very comfy with Mountain View. Very near to the sunset watching place but far from Guangmingding for sunrise viewing. Breakfast is very good and sumptuous. Dinner option however is limited unless you opt for the buffet. We bought a chicken burger which is not nice so you can skip. Overall, I would rate this hotel 8/10… recommend!
