Let's start with the positives first, the location is good, and the price is cheap. Other than that, a nightmare. That was by far the dirtiest hotel room I've stayed in SEA so far. Most items looked like they were never cleaned since the hotel was built. Downstairs there was some weird general store full of dust and an empty restaurant. Don't stay here if possible.

It was OK for one night and to start our Mekong trip. As it is located on the main road, there are plenty of restaurants and places to stock up on provisions for the boat trip. You can also buy boat tickets at the hotel.

It could be pretty good. Large room, properly equipped, pleasant welcome. But it should be cleaned properly. The bathroom was dirty, the water heater worked very poorly, and there was a lot of mess everywhere in the hotel. The beds were clean, a little firm. It seems to be one of the best hotels in Huay Xai. Very glad I didn't see the others.

Houay Xai doesn't have a ton of overnight lodging options besides basic backpacker places, but Oudomphone was perfectly fine for our one-night stay before our Mekong river cruise. Very basic room and bathroom but everything worked and was reasonably clean. Hard pressed to do better for $16/night USD!

The location is perfect and the staff are very friendly and helpful, and they can assist with buses to other places in Laos or across the border. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. Showers are hot. Wi-Fi was ok. Breakfast on offer for a reasonable price.
