It’s been a long time since I was last in a youth hostel, and as a now 45 year old man there is probably a reason for this. Arriving late on the Tuesday night with fond memories of dorm parties and tequila slammers, I was greeted by what I initially thought was captain Jack Sparrow, but who actually transpired to be a very friendly chap who helped us to navigate the intricacies of the main entrance. Door buzzed, suitcases lifted up the stairs and ugh who let mum and dad in looks absorbed, we were handed our keys by a lovely member of the team alongside vouchers for two free shots. Enthusiastically we were informed that the bar was open until 1am that night, although we had missed the pub crawl for the evening. I’m flattered I guess, however we decided to give the shots a miss in favour of a nice sleep. Yup, Father Time catches up with us all… We had a private double with a shared bathroom, and although very small it was comfortable enough. The pillow has perhaps seen better days, but the A/C was a life saver! Spending the days walking around town and doing some gentle exploring, the nights were largely spent for myself at least in the bar area downstairs. It’s a small but perfectly functional area, and in all honesty wasn’t the screaming mess of teenagers away from home for the first time that I had been expecting. At 3 euros a pint I was certainly very happy to sit and read whilst various cool young things did their thing in the background. Declining participation in the pub crawl for a second time, I was tempted with the tapas tasting but plans for the night changed due to friends arriving a day early and diner reservations being made. From a comfort point of view, our bathroom was shared between three double rooms I believe on the third floor, and this was never an issue. I attribute this to the fact that we were likely on very different schedules with us going out for the day and back for the night, as opposed to the perhaps more night based activities of our fellow residents. Bedroom like I said small, but hey, who cares, we weren’t here to sit in a room all day. The breakfast was absolutely fine, and for 5 euros a day you really cannot complain. All in all very happy with my stay, though peeking into an open dorm room one day my god I wouldn’t have survived the week unless you could take 25 years off me! Good job though overall Sant Jordi, and I’d certainly consider staying again - safe, friendly and somewhere I’m sure 20 year old me would have had a blast!

On arrival we realised the place was a hostel as well as a hotel, which wasn't clear when we booked through Secret Escapes. The reception area was chaotic as it seemed everyone checked in at the same time. There were 2 young women on duty, who were perfectly pleasant but not very efficient. To get to our room we had to go back outside, as the hostel is in the main part of the building. The front door is very heavy and slams if you don't grab it before it closes - this was an issue through the night as pretty much everyone let it slam. As our room was directly above it, we were wakened on a number of occasions. It may be an idea to put a notice on it to let guests know. We were disappointed with our room. We expected it to be quirky, which was why we booked it, but the furniture could do with being better. Our wardrobe screeched every time we opened the doors. Saying that, the room was very clean and the bed exceptionally comfortable. The shower is outstanding and there was always hot water available. The room was cleaned each day we were there and fresh water left for us. The television didn't work when we turned it on, so my husband went to reception to ask for help with it. They never came. We asked a further twice and no one turned up. The hotel is in a beautiful location with fantastic views across the city. There is a lovely plaza just across the road and there were various types of musicians there every day and also a café, under an awning if you wanted to sit and have a drink and a pastry. As in previous reviews, our room was at the front of the hotel and the traffic is non stop 24/7, as you'd expect in a busy city. The windows kept out a lot of the noise but the room was very hot at times so we couldn't have the windows open. There were no instructions on how to work the heater in the room, or to tell us about wi-fi or even recommendations for what to see, where to eat and transport. That would have been helpful. The wi-fi is woefully inadequate in the side where the hotel is; it may be better in the hostel side. The password is only available in reception. Breakfast was adequate. There is a buffet which was replenished regularly but if you want a hot breakfast, the choice was pretty much eggs or pancakes. On the first morning we were pretty much ignored; there were 2 young women but they never approached us to tell us how things worked. The rest of the stay was better as there was a lovely lady there who was efficient and made things run smoothly. It made us smile to hear her sing her way through breakfast and engage with the guests. There is a rooftop restaurant that only caters for private functions and it is above the rooms in the hotel side, with access through the same front door. There was a function on one of our nights and the noise was ridiculous until 2 in the morning. The front doors were wide open and there was a constant stream of people up and down the stairs, past our room. There is a piano in the lobby

The distance from the center is not too far and you can walk on foot.
The hotel staff was friendly and the stay was very comfortable. You need to bring your own amenities except basic body soap, but the shared spaces such as shower rooms and toilets were kept fairly clean and easy to use.

The facilities with an imperfect cleaning, the room we stayed was very large, and consequently the heating plates were not enough for a medium-cold day, we spent a little cold rsrsrs, breakfast was very basic only bread, Mantequilla, presunto, mustard milk and coffee

This is our second time at Rossio Hostel - we thought it the best hostel we'd ever stayed at in 2019, and now it is even better. Not enough words to tell you everything great about it - though if we boil it down to two words it would be THE PEOPLE who work there are what makes it amazing. Sunday Fado night is not to be missed - when we were there Rossio brought in Jessica Fernandez, who is an amazing singer and she was backed by two highly skilled guitar players - one on classical guitar and one on the Portuguese guitar. Pizza night on Wednesday also included a cover band that was a lot of fun. Aside from all this Rossio Hostel is in a fantastic old building from the late 1700s/early 1800s (post-earthquake) - lots of character. Rossio sits right on Rossio Square - a very central part of Lisbon with the metro and trains right outside your doot. Now, as to what makes Rossio Hostel really stand out - well, that is the people. A big thank you, and kudos, to the staff at Rossio: Madalena, Leavis (hope I'm spelling your nake right my friend), Rita, Paula, Mackayla (also hoping I get your name right), Victoria and especially Elsa who cooked up amazing scrambled eggs and crepes Monday to Friday. I didn't catch the name of the weekend cook - also a big thank you to you and the young lady helping you on the weekend. There are other staff that I didn't have a chance to get their names. The staff at Rossio Hostel make you feel like you are at home - my partner and I also felt like we were part of their family for the six days we were there. The big downside to Rossio Hostel is when you have to leave - the staff make it really hard to leave, because they make you feel so welcome and at home. We've been there twice and we will absolutely be back. If there were a way to give a rating higher than 10 we would certainly do it. Thanks again to everyone at Rossio Hostel for making our trip so special and memorable. The hostel's name says it all - this hostel is ideally located in the heart of Lisbon within walking distance of most of the major monuments the city has to offer. My girlfriend and I allocated 2 days to Lisbon and 1 to Sintra and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in one of the 8-bed dorms. The rooms and amenities of this hostel exceeded our expectations as our 1st foray into hostel traveling. The staff were extremely kind as well and were helpful in helping us plan an early morning (4 am) transport to the airport. There were a few small details we wish we could change. For one, we had a bit of bad luck in that one of our roommates was sick and spent most of the night coughing relentlessly keeping most members of our room awake. Additionally, despite meeting many friendly faces, the hostel did not feel as openly social as other hostels we stayed our throughout our two week Europe trip

We got a private room there cause we wanted our own space. Looked decent in the photos. When we arrived the room was quite dirty. Dirt on the walls, toothpaste around the sink and the towels we got had brown stains in it. We did not experience the privateness of our room because the bedroom door has a 2cm gap underneath it so all the stamps on the wooden floor and all the people coming and going (which was alot) along with the maintenace room next door felt like they were in our room. Alot of other smaller things like malfunction noises in the ventilation and very poor quality in the bed. “Breakfast included” was white bread, jam and coffee. BIGGEST PROBLEM is that the bathroom has alot of black mold in it. For example all around the shower and the shower glass and around the sink. After two nights we contacted the staff and told them about all these things listed above and we wanted to move out of that room and go somewhere else. So they told us that I had to send an email which would be forwarded to their supervisor, which I did. I checked upon them multiple times with calls, emails and direct conversation. Their supervisor, who was not there, would contact me which he never did. I am well aware this is not a 5 star accomodation but this is not ok in any accomodation that you pay for. I’ve been all around the world staying in allkinds of accomodations but this was my worst experience. Not only because of the room situation but because of the staffmembers who didnt even try to make things better by for example clean the room, offer us new towels offer us new bedroom. We paid 156€/night there. When the client points out things that are poor and could easily be fixed, just fix it and at least try to make them happy. WOT Lisbon Patio … Do better !

I am deeply dissatisfied with the online booking service offered by Zenhotels. I made a reservation for what I thought would be a private room with 2 pets allowed and made a payment of 97 euros, which according to the booking confirmation received, was the total amount for the reservation. I was supposed to only pay 6 euros for the tourist tax and 10 euros per pet for the entire stay. Upon arrival at the hotel (WOT Lisbon Nomad), I was informed that the reservation I had made did not correspond to a private room and that in order to get one, I would have to pay an additional 234.51 euros on top of the already paid 97 euros (this would be for the upgrade to a private room + 10 euros per day per pet). Obviously, this news at the time of check-in and with such a price difference (more than three times the original value) makes it almost impossible for the customer to seek an alternative. Furthermore, I tried to explain to the hotel that the website was not very clear about private or shared rooms, as the room description did not indicate that it was shared. Additionally, it did not mention that the payment for the pets was per day rather than for the entire stay. The person responded that if the website did not have complete information, it was not the hotel's problem. I countered that if they were selling their services through third parties, they are just as responsible as the website promoting them to ensure that the information is accurate; otherwise, they are complicit in a scheme to deceive customers. Finally, I decided not to proceed with the proposal because I found it disrespectful, an excessive charge compared to the original offer, and unprofessional. Therefore, I feel that I was cheated out of the 97 euros that I paid and that I could not use the offered service.

Excellent
GGuest UserHonestly, thats the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. There is AMAZING breakfast (for free) and even pancakes with lil faces on them (and trust me that makes ur mood for the day). Also there are daily little activities- movies, sangria for 1€ and free refills, the big boss lady cooks soup and pasta for everyone almost every night. I stayed for 5 nights and it was worth it! Also everyone is super friendly and kind. There’s nothing bad i can say! Compared to other hostels in Lisbon its out of range!

GGuest UserWe stayed in Vila Garden from 17th-22nd March! We were in room 103 and my parents in room 104,both rooms were absolutely spotless, with comfortable beds,tv,kettle, mini bar, lovely soft towels, fabulous shower, well, everything really to make for a fabulous stay! The staff were lovely,it was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and we returned from our day of sightseeing to find a bottle of champagne in our room, such a lovely touch! It’s a little out of the city but the metro is nearby and very easy to use! €6.60 gets you a 24hr ticket to use in the tram, metro and buses,a different ticket gets you to Sintra for €5.10! Amazing value to travel around! There’s no lift in the guesthouse so if stairs are a problem ask for a room on the 1st floor before you arrive. Lovely cafe next door for breakfast etc.Lisbon is truly amazing and we’d definitely return and visit the sights we didn’t get chance to see! Thank you Vila Garden!

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the heart of the city centre and is located in the heart of the city centre. Several water rooms with toilets available by floor, clean. Common kitchen available on the floor also. Breakfast and pizzas every evening possible. Negative points: luminosity when the day rises in the room. Sound isolation with neighbouring rooms and the corridor (particularly in the presence of neighbours of respectless layer... calls in the night, film with sound, door clacked at any time...) the mask and balls that are of ’ use.

Very Good
GGuest UserBooking with a group of 18 people isn't easy. However. Miguel and his team at Green Heart Hostel made everything possible for us to have an amazing stay. We were in contact over months changing dates, organizing rooms and more. Throughout the organization, the Hostel was always calm, friendly and helpful. The stay itself was without any disturbance. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms and showers as well. A big plus is certainly the location of the Hostel. It is placed quitely but in walking distance to the City Center. We can only recommend this hostel for your stay in Lisbon!!

SStudentOverTheSeasstaffs are very welcoming. the location’s quite good as there’re supermarket, cafes and tram stations (line 28) nearby. the luggage storage is just putting your luggage on the floor, which feels not very safe. Also, someone who stayed there disturbed us RIGHT after 11pm saying that it’s the hostel’s resting time. but overall it was a good stay

GGuest UserEverything was very good, one point that could be improved would be to answer the door as soon as we arrived to check in, the attendant took a while because she was cleaning some rooms.
Overall it was great, perfect location close to markets, public transport and 20 min walk from the commerce square. I loved it I will definitely be back.

GGuest UserI would like to make it clear that the accommodations at this hostel were as expected, taking into account that currently it is basically what one is looking for, when it comes to stays for a short period of time. But I missed clearer and more accurate information in the booking confirmation email. Because when I arrived at the hotel door and pressed the doorbell dozens of times without getting an answer, it was very stressful! My phone is from Brazil and I hadn't bought a chip from Portugal. I had to seek help from third parties, unknown people, thank God I found someone who helped me, but even getting into our room was a long way! Something that should have been very simple became almost a nightmare. Therefore, I would like to suggest that when making a book with a client, make it clear in the email the step-by-step instructions on how to enter the hotel and also the room! Make it clear to the person that everything is done remotely and we never even know who we are talking to. Not everyone will get there with working internet on their cell phone, and making a phone call is out of the question due to the price it would cost, as it would be International! Just a suggestion, so it doesn't happen to other people. Regards
GGuest UserAfter several top-notch reviews (the first time I made a point of saying I'd come back...), I tried a 1-month experience here, which didn't last more than 17 days. In the female room there is a Madalena guest who controls everyone's behavior. Nobody can get up before her even if we have something to do... This lady manipulated everyone because she has known the team for over 1 year because she lives there. This time it was with friends who made a lot of noise, loud voice calls all day, even though I wanted to rest. Another Indian guest with no departure date gets dirty and doesn't even go to the kitchen to eat. Even if they are fine, they laugh very loudly... even above 8pm. Nobody can take it, at least I have the money... The guest Madalena and another Angolan friend of hers called Deusa took me to the limit. They started ripping my life apart with what they knew and insulting my family with sexual overtones and all.. The management had told me I was going to talk to them but they're done with them. I don't even know if you're ashamed of me or those people...

GGuest UserAmazing stay at this hostel. Yes it's a bit far away but everything is clean and tidy. The check in is possible til midnight so this is really helpful and the volunteers are really lovely like a family ♥️ You can't do best price 🤙 Also because you are not in the city center you can sleep without noise and the check out is til 3pm so everything is perfect if as me you don't have a lot of money but good relationship with people 😀
