Castle Hotel is the best place to discover Cairo! It felt like home to me. I was in 8 different hotels in Cairo on my tour: castle hotel is my family and my choice no1 now. I know where to go to on future trips. Castle Hotel :) The hotel is located in the 16th floor, so you have the best view you can find. You can see so far. You can the city, the Nile, a little bit of a pyramid. Best traffic connection because ramses street. Shops 1 minute walk. Abu tarek koshari 5 minute walk, river Nile 5 minute walk. The staff is amazing. Friendly, always willing to help, welcoming, discrete. It’s a very nice vibe up there. The sounds of the city far away. Very relaxing. Next time I book an extra night just to enjoy the view. It’s just vibrant there and you feel the energy of the city. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you for everything! See you!

This hostel has no English logo. It is on the 11th floor of a residential building. It is not easy to find at the beginning. It is not too close to Jiefang Square to walk for 20 minutes. The hotel's breakfast is very local, the hotel is cleaned, the perfume is too strong, the room has a small balcony to see the skyline of Cairo

The hotel is very simple, the stuff is very friendly and helpful, they gave me early check in.
We stayed 4 days they cleaned the room 2 times, we had to ask for toilet paper every time we needed it. The towels didn’t work very well (polyester), very noisy area, and we were in the first floor were you could hear what everybody in the forts floor were doing in the corridor, nobody controls noicy people.

I'm so glad I chose this hotel in Cairo. The location is excellent, with the museum across the street and a 5-minute walk to the Go Bus starting point and the bus station center. You can go to Alexandria and Luxor by go bus; you can go to the airport, the pyramids, etc. by bus. The hotel has an elevator, air conditioning, and provides a rich and varied breakfast for free! We loved Cairo’s local flatbread and bean paste. The room is clean, tidy and quite spacious! We also booked this hotel when we returned to Cairo from Alexandria and Luxor. Not far from here, there are McDonald’s, KFC and pizza shops, and you can actually find a shop where you can buy Egyptian beer! Egyptian beer STELLA tastes really good and costs 40 Egyptian pounds a bottle.

Beautiful rooftop cafe, good downtown location, friendly staff and nice breakfast esp Turkish coffee!
Didn't get level 6 hostel room but other floor thus amenities and facilities like wifi and bathroom is less ideal.
Nonetheless, it's a great hostel for Solo female traveler! :))

Excellent
GGuest UserThis is a very good youth hostel near the Cairo Museum. Although the rooms are not big, the public areas are large and user-friendly. In particular, the cleanliness of the public toilets and bathrooms is no less than that of hotel rooms. There are fans but no air conditioning, which may not work in summer! Not far from it is a comprehensive Western fast food restaurant, which has pizza, KFC, and donut coffee. It can solve breakfast and dinner very well. Recommended
GGuest UserWhen we arrived, it was a little difficult to find the building, because there was no sign of Lucky Hostel in the lobby. However a very persistent man outside, insisted that the building with sign “El otel”, is the correct building. We trust him and we entered. Another problem, it looked like to use the elevator to 4th floor, we must have access card. We wait for about 5 minutes and fortunately there was a man came down, and we asked his help to tap on the elevator using his card. Other than that, my husband & I were happy to stay in this hostel. Our room was so big and with sofa too!! Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. Hot shower was very pleasant in cold morning. And we were very happy that the staff allow us to put our luggage while we were away to Luxor. We stay for total of 4 nights and we were allowed again to put our luggage while we went shopping, because our flight was in the middle of the night.
GGuest UserThe first time I checked in, I felt that this hotel was very good and I was satisfied with everything. But the second time, it was full of problems. There were all kinds of problems with this hotel. First, because it was my second time staying at this hotel, I deliberately did not make a reservation in advance and went directly to the hotel to ask them the price. The hotel said the price for one night was 970 ebms, which shocked me. I checked the platform and found that the price for one night was only more than 400. Then I made a reservation on the platform, and the hotel staff was very unhappy. Second, my friend came to the hotel to visit me. As soon as he stepped into the door of the hotel, the hotel staff ran to me and said that I needed to pay 200 ebms because I brought a friend in. I said I was leaving soon and was not here. He said no, as soon as you come in, you must pay 200 ebms before you can leave. Fortunately, when I checked in, I told their staff that a friend would come to see me the next day, and he said OK, so I escaped. In summary, this hotel has many pitfalls. You must ask clearly when making a reservation, otherwise it is easy to fall into the trap.
GGuest UserI booked a private room but ended up with a room with 5 beds lol. Please understand that this is a hostel for backpackers. It was clean and the air conditioning worked without any problems. The shared toilets and showers were average. I can't really say it was worth the price.
GGuest UserThe hotel environment is quite good. There is a rooftop with a view of the city. The location is also good. It is in the city center and has very convenient places to eat. It is very suitable for the city walk. There is always hot water in the room! ! Hit the point! Many accommodations in Cairo boil water, and you have to wait a long time for the previous person to use it, but this is not the case at their house. The only thing I felt was lacking was that the blankets in the room didn't look that clean... The guy at the front desk also provided very good service. My friend even called an Uber for his flight in the early morning.
GGuest UserThis hostel has a good location and I would say that it is pretty walkable in the early morning and very late at night but the walking infrastructure is not the best in Cairo. Mid day the traffic makes it very tricky to walk around even though there are many good restaurants and attractions nearby.
Finding it is a little tricky but it is down an alley that doesn't allow cards and it is located on floor 2 of an older building. There is an elevator but all doors and gates need to be closed in order for it to work and we found guests at the hostel weren't good at closing after themselves. The staff are very kind and welcoming but we got a bit hung up on the payment. We booked on Trip with the ”Pay at the Hotel” option for 3100 Egyptian pounds for three nights in a private room but they were asking for 3600 when we were checking in. After a little back and forth they let us check in and gave us the keys so we could rest and wait for the manager's answer. The manager said no to our booked rate, we were told we booked on ******* and we now had to pay 3900 Egyptian pounds. I'm at a loss of words for this discrepancy between Trip and the hostel but there weren't better deals in the area we wanted to stay and we very reluctantly paid.
The room was just a place to sleep with a box to the side where our shower and toilet were. The box had no ceiling or ventilation so there were smells throughout the room from the drains. The beds were comfy but were not completely clean when we arrived - there was hairs in the bed sheets. The room cleanliness overall could have been better. The area is quiet at night and we got a good night's rest to spend our days exploring Cairo.
The breakfast was ok but there wasn't much room to eat in the common areas during our stay so we asked for breakfast in our room during our stay. We had a simple breakfast with a fried egg, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, banana, tea/coffee and Arabic bread. It is enough to get you through until lunch and is served starting at 8 pm. There is a convenience store close by that offers fairly priced snacks and drinks which you might want to seek out because they do not provide water at this hostel.
We hope this property improves because it seems like it used to be really good and the location is good as well.
AAnonymous UserIn general, it is not bad for me to stay in a single room with a common bathroom for 10 nights.
Above all, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff's efforts to manage the City Hostel clean which is too old and out fashioned building.
* Location & Transportation
Without noise, it is the best location to stay. It is located at 2 2-minute walk distance from Attaba subway station that connects to the Ramsis Railway Station and the Egypt Museum, only 1~3 stops away, charging 6 EGP per way. Of course, you can go to both by walk in 20 minutes. It means you can also enjoy the Nile riverside which is close to the museum.
And it is a 2-minute walk distance from the Attaba market which is the biggest public market in Cairo and so many locals visit to buy their livelihoods stuff at a cheap price.
In addition, you can also walk to the Al Azhar Mosque and Khan El-Khalili traditional market in 30 minutes, and St. Marc Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in AL Azbakeya in 10 minutes
Two problems I experienced are firstly the noi⁹sy from 8 am to 3 am outside the building due to market area and cars' horns. It took 3 days for me to adapt it. Any room in the hostel cannot escape it without changing the windows to soundproof ones. If you are sensitive to sound, it is better to find other lodges in a residential area or modernized ones.
Secondly, its location on the Uber taxi map and other maps is not accurate, so drivers have some problems in finding the city hostel. I have to meet them in front of the KFC next to the Attaba subway station. The signboard of the hotel is too small to recognize it.
* Building and room conditions
Like many other buildings in Cairo, the hostel building is old and shabby. The interior design and facilities are also outdated. However, the staff manages it so clean, particularly a common toilet and shower room.
It is quite convenient a washstand in each room.
However, it is bad there is no electronic kettle to boil water in a room or a common space. I could not enjoy my tea or coffee time at any time. I have to ask for hot drink water every morning when receiving breakfast, and store it in my tumbler.
It will be better to provide a tea or coffee service area in the hostel.
* Cleanness & Safety
Cleanness and safety are very good. I have no issue with this.
* Services
There is no basic service that most guesthouses provide in general: toilet paper and drink water.
Wifi is too weak to use the internet.
Other services like laundry are satisfied.
* Others
During my stay, I couldn't enjoy having an exchange time with other travelers. I think it is because there is no reason to stay in a common space where only sofas and a table are. Largely guesthouse provides a commonplace where guests enjoy better the internet or drinks including tea or coffee and foods, which makes guests meet each other naturally and structurally.
In conclusion, if the hostel provides basic services like toilet paper and commonplace with drink water and electronic kettles, it will be much better.
And it is necessary to change its signboard so that is more recognizable.
Except issues I mentioned above, it is a very good budget lodge.
GGuest UserThe service was good and staff were friendly. They were able to answer any questions I asked. The main issue I had was the noise and checked out a night early. I wanted to sleep in the afternoon due to coming from a different time zone but it was too noisy with traffic in the area. I asked to move to a quieter room but they didn’t have.
GGuest UserThis price is not bad in Cairo, the bed feels normal, but the boss is very friendly, there is free wireless network to use, very close to the city center
VVanessaThe hotel is perfect value for money.
Right in the heart of Cairo.
For the price, you can't complain.
Unfortunately, the staff doesn't speak English well, but all requests were met.
