Hope Cove itself is really peaceful but quality and value of hotel room at Hope and Anchor Small sloping ceiling room with very small window view, adequate shower room. (our stay elsewhere the night before was 40% cheaper with a much more spacious room and larger bathroom with a bath!)

Amazing. Beautiful place and I am fussy. The staff are brilliant. So clean. We have 2 x dogs and our room was gorgeous. Don’t want to say anymore as I want to be able to book again😀. You don’t even need the car as you are right on the coast path. Thank you can’t wait to go back

Always so relaxing and friendly staff. The room was very comfortable, clean and cosy. Great delishous food and drinks. Showing the rugby was a perfect atmosphere. It's in a perfect location for a break away, the surrounding hills offer amazing walks and views.

My husband and I stayed for a Mon-Thu break for my birthday, the week before half term, so as to avoid the busy time. As soon as we arrived the lady at the bar was so friendly, we instantly felt at home. Our room was lovely, we stayed in room 5 which overlooks the outside areas of the pub and you have a partial view of the sea. When you open the window you can hear the waves which are was lovely at night when all is peaceful. The bed was very comfy and large, the bathroom small but perfectly adequate. I usually book places with a bath, I don’t think any of the rooms have one here, but it wasn’t a big deal. Breakfast was excellent, lots to choose from on the menu and other continental breakfast items laid on. I enjoyed the smashed avocado with poached eggs on sour dough, my husband had the full English. We had lunch at the pub as well, which was also lovely, extremely prompt and friendly service, the food was amazing. In the evenings after we had been out and about walking, we had pudding and drinks in the bar. I can recommend the chocolate brownie and the fruit crumble! On the last night there was a pub quiz which was great fun, literally all of the staff were brilliant throughout our stay, so friendly and accommodating, they really are a credit to the pub, please pass on our thanks. We have now stayed in four St Austell brewery pubs for breaks and each one is unique but this has to be one of the most enjoyable for friendliness and location. We love to go for long walks so location is everything. Just a couple of little niggles which need a mention.. even though we turned the heating off in our room it was very warm and there was a strange humming noise that went on and off now and again, a boiler maybe, but it wasn’t horrendous, just a bit distracting. The air con made funny noises too so we turned it off overnight. In the other three St Austell brewery pubs they provided biscuits with the tea making facilities which they don’t at The Hope & Anchor, so there’s a suggestion for you! Otherwise a brilliant stay! We hope to be back!

As always - a warm welcome, good food and company in a comfortable room/really comfy bed, set in an unrivaled location. Outstanding breakfast menu, relished after early morning walk or run on deserted beaches and cliffs. Its glorious out of season.

This was our first stay at the Hope and Anchor Inn Hope Cove. We arrived on Christmas Eve and stayed until Boxing Day to enjoy the Festive Celebrations with family. We were given a friendly and warm welcome on arrival at reception in what was already a busy and atmospheric pub. James and his excellent team ensured that nothing was too much trouble during our stay and after a tour of the facilities showed us to our en-suite room which was warm and cosy with all the amenities and a lovely sea view over the beach towards Burgh Island. The menu on Christmas Eve was varied and reasonably priced and the food was delicious. On Christmas day at breakfast which again was excellent with a continental buffet and great choice of hot food we were given a hamper menu to select various baguettes, cheeses, sausage rolls, snacks etc for the evening when the pub closed. These hampers along with a bottle of prosecco and some beers were left outside the rooms and were very tasty and excellent quality. We had 11 people in our group for Christmas dinner, the food and service from James and his hard working team (Hamish, Julia and Rhia to mention but a few) was amazing ensuring our Christmas Day was a joyous experience. After the pub closed its doors we were given the run of the conservatory/mezzanine area with piped Christmas music to enjoy our party games and evening hampers which made a great end to a wonderful day. Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas in this beautiful location James and his team made it a family Christmas to remember.

Our stay was absolutely great. We had a sea view room, really spacious and tastefully decorated. The enormous bed was sheer bliss and definitely the cleanest bathroom I`ve ever seen in a hotel, it looked brand new. There was even a little bottle of milk and water left in our fridge for us. The man in reception who showed us to our room was so friendly and welcoming, we explained that we were surprising my brother-in-law so he just knocked on our door when they arrived to let us know, a really thoughtful gesture. Our dinner was delicious and the guy serving us was bouncy and fun, really nice. Our breakfast was equally scrummy, the lady who served us was really lovely and very informative about the local area. There is a carpark right beside the hotel which only charged £6 for 24 hour parking so very reasonable. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning to stay another time.
