Hyatt Place Birmingham Hoover

Flooring pieces loose in the elevators. Room had something hung on the ceiling, not totally attached. Not sure if alarm. No sprinkler system. This hotel needs to be shut down and remodeled or removed from the Hyatt brand of hotels. Not worth more than $40 a night. That was not what we paid.

Globalist Hyatt members here. Probably the worst experience with the Hyatt brand ever and it was at this location. The place should not be allowed to be called a Hyatt and we told the manager as much. Useless, oblivious, and downright uncaring staff and management. Shoddy dingy old rooms and common areas. Malfunctioning bathroom fixtures. Pillows and sheets that smelled of arthritis cream. Strongly urge you to stay elsewhere.

In a word, gross. Shower was disgusting, droppings beside air conditioner, carpet very worn, furniture old and dirty. I was hoping breakfast would be okay. Nope. They had eggs and biscuits but no type of meat. No pastries or muffins either. Best part of breakfast was the container or yogurt.

Don't stay here. This place is in bad disrepair and doesn't use the lobby airconditioner in July. The elevators stink and have ripped carpeting. The bathroom sink was clogged. This hotel has not been maintained and does not meet the standards of a Hyatt Place. Hyatt should be ashamed to have its name associated with this dilapidated building. When checking in, the front desk refused to smile and made no eye contact. She didn't welcome us and said "Thank you for being a Discoverist" as though she was reading from the computer screen and was forced to say it. At breakfast the garbage can was overflowing and tables had uneaten food left on them. I will never stay in another Hyatt Place. Until now, Hyatt Place had a high standard of maintained properties with a welcoming, smiling staff. I will not take the chance on another Hyatt Place.

I understand the review title may be strongly worded, but a hotel this bad earned the comparison. From poorly trained and just unprofessional staff, to the filth and lack of cleanliness, to the basic maintenance that’s obviously been neglected- this hotel feels like what I’ve imagined jail would be like. Upon check-in, they switched my room type (needed a double queen as I’m traveling with my son, got a king with a pull out). The lobby was (and has remained) around 80 degrees. Every inch of this place is disgusting and in need of attention. Oh and on Sunday night the staff allowed friends to have a pool party. Not your typical pool party mind you, the staff allowed in people not staying at the hotel to basically turn the pool into a spring break edition of 60 days in. I was told “the end room is under repair so she’s (the hotel worker) letting us use that room and have our birthday party”. I can overlook the swim party but then they set off an alarm. Bottom line- I’d rather sleep in my car before I’d ever book here again.

This is the worst Hyatt Place I have ever stayed at, coming from a Hyatt Globalist, I have stayed at my share of them! Where to begin? - lobby AC broken - staff missing in action for 30 minutes while 5 different families trying to check in - all staff members encountered were perpetually pissed off - no extra bedding. Want to use the pullout bed? ha! No. - door to my room, literally busted and coming off the hinges - holes in the furniture, carpet, etc.
