"Airconditioning Made a lot of noise. Running and shouting kids constantly. Breakfast very busy and takes much too long to get food or coffee."

"The hotel is quirky and the hosts are very friendly but we were given a room at the top of the hotel and there was no shower. There was a bath with a shower hose and there was a slanted ceiling so you couldn’t stand up to use it as a shower. A shower is a basic amenity and we should have been told about this when we booked. So it made our experience unpleasant. If we had been given a room with a shower, then we’d have rated our stay higher."

"Stayed here for Ironman comp for 5 days. We stayed in a superior room on the 2nd floor 205 over looking side alley. We had aircon, which was a godsend as the weather was very hot, unsure if all rooms had aircon. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable but no cuddling, or you will fall between mattresses lol, partner was happy with that. I found our room to be very quite, didn't hear other guests or restaurant below and minimal outside noise. Breakfast was continental, which, to be honest, I'm glad, no pigging out on cooked breakfast you don't usually have at home. The hotel was in an easy walkable distance for Ironman swim start/bike drop and less than 10 mins from expo tents and finish line. Lots of nice eateries within walking distance and less than 10 min walk to train station. I would happily stay here again."

"This small hotel "De Magneet" in Hoorn is wonderful - the atmosphere is family-like, the owner and his wife are more than friendly (as the whole staff). The breakfast is fresh and very good. The rooms are simple but clean. The best is the boatstour with Rob (the hotel owner, a great guy); it is a wonderful experience to go by boat with Rob as the skipper and to have a beer in the boat while leaving Hoorn and entering the Ijsselmeer. We always go to "De Magneet" at least once a year."
