Booked the Empire Hotel Hong Kong · Wan Chai during the 9.19 sale. First off, getting to the hotel from the airport on the A11 bus was super convenient, a direct ride. The front desk didn't proactively tell me the specific times for breakfast and afternoon tea, only the floor where they were located. I'm guessing the hotel is a bit older, as the room facilities felt a little dated. There wasn't a charging port by the bed, and there was a vent in the room that couldn't be turned off, constantly making noise. However, the breakfast and afternoon tea offerings were plentiful and refilled very promptly.

This was the 3rd stay in the last 2 months. First I made a mistake and double booked our rooms. The hotel was very fast to cancel one of my bookings without any charges. On arrival, Vanessa at the front desk was very nice and helped arrange adjoining rooms for my wife and I and adjoining room for my 2 boys. Aside from easy access to the MTR and lots of restaurants all around the hotel offers a spectacular view of the Victoria Harbor from their VIP Lounge on the top floor. For hotels with similar prices in the area I highly recommend the Empire.

The room was spacious, new, and very modern. The service was highly professional, especially the cleaning staff who could cure anyone's OCD! The location is excellent, just a short walk from Zijing Cultural Square and the Convention and Exhibition Center. Public transport is convenient, and it's super easy to find places to eat and shop. There's a mall downstairs and Xiamen Street right across the road, surrounded by all sorts of restaurants, from various price points to different cuisines, both Chinese and Western. It's perfect not only for business trips but also great for family vacations!

The first room I got was unpleasant. The hallway at the floor and inside the room was had a cigarette smokes. I was stay up for a whole day. Inside the room was shocked me! A lot of mirrors surrounding inside the room. On the next day I spoke with front desk and they changed the room to me as what I booked originally. Better view and cleanliness. More options and convenience to take the public transits. More selections for the restaurants and shops.

I used to stay in this property when it was Cosmopolitan Hotel. It was much high grade, and better service, better amenities, better service before. Now Dorsett; the decoration is out of date, not very clean, much low grade, and low service. Apart from the location, i wouldn’t stay in this property again. They don’t even provide free bottles water, but they put a re-usable bottle, and you need to fill it from public dispenser. Quite dirty to use the bottle other people used, and it is questionable of the public dispenser hygiene. Also there are stains all over the bed sheets. We left the room with the “clean the room” sign on, when we turn back at night, room not cleaned.

Beyond its good location and affordability, there's not much else to praise. The Tin Hau MTR station is closer, but the exit towards the hotel doesn't have an elevator, so it's a struggle with large luggage if you have to use the stairs. There's a McDonald's, Fairwood, and tea restaurants nearby, so breakfast outside the hotel is perfectly fine. The rooms are very old, even the executive rooms on higher floors. I only chose it for the price and convenience, so I'm not really complaining about the conditions. You can walk to Don Don Donki in about 10 minutes. Taking the tram (ding ding) is generally cheap and convenient for getting around.

Had a wonderfully comfortable and highly satisfying stay, offering excellent value for money. 1. **Spaciousness:** The room was remarkably large by Hong Kong standards, exceeding 20 square meters. Beyond the bathroom, it featured a dedicated kitchen and a small dining area. Multiple windows provided abundant natural light, making the space bright and airy. The decor was elegantly cozy, truly creating a home-away-from-home ambiance. 2. **Convenient Amenities:** The kitchen was fully equipped with a microwave, toaster, induction hob, washing machine (with dryer function), range hood, refrigerator, and a complete set of pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery – all perfectly functional and in great condition. This was a huge advantage, as many hotels and guesthouses often have such appliances that are merely for show. During our three-day stay, the washer/dryer was incredibly convenient for daily laundry. We also appreciated the complimentary drinks in the fridge. 3. **Excellent Location & Perks:** The hotel boasts a superb location with convenient transportation. It's just a few hundred meters, roughly a 10-minute walk, from Wan Chai MTR station. Getting to Central or Tsim Sha Tsui MTR is incredibly easy, just two stops each. Popular attractions like Golden Bauhinia Square and Victoria Harbour are also within easy walking distance. While a full breakfast isn't provided, the lobby offers 24-hour complimentary coffee, and from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, guests can enjoy free apples, bananas, and pastries – a thoughtful solution for a quick morning bite. 4. **Friendly Service & Minor Detail:** The lobby staff were exceptionally friendly, always greeting us warmly. During check-in, they patiently explained all the essential details and how to operate the in-room appliances. The hotel also features both an indoor and outdoor lounge area, both tastefully decorated to create a cozy and elegant atmosphere. The only slight drawback is the approximately 20-meter steep uphill walk to reach the hotel entrance. This might pose a challenge for guests with mobility issues, seniors, or those with heavy luggage. However, this elevated position contributes to a very quiet and peaceful environment at night.

Tips for Booking Hong Kong Hotels

Book Early for Peak Travel Seasons

Hong Kong gets especially busy during Chinese New Year (January–February), Golden Week (early October), and Christmas. Hotels in popular areas like Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Causeway Bay often sell out or spike in price—so book well in advance.

Watch Out for Major Events

Expect higher rates during international trade fairs, art shows, and concerts at venues like the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, AsiaWorld–Expo, or West Kowloon Cultural District. Hotel demand surges during events like Art Basel, Rugby Sevens, and K-pop tours.

Save More with Trip.com Perks

New users can get up to 8% off select Hong Kong hotel bookings on Trip.com. Helpful for offsetting Hong Kong’s 10% service charge—or upgrading to harbour-view rooms with breakfast included.

Stay Smart with Location Choices

On a budget? Consider staying in areas like Sheung Wan, Sai Ying Pun, or North Point instead of Central or Tsim Sha Tsui. These neighborhoods still offer easy MTR access, great food, and local charm—without the high-end hotel prices.

Very Good
AAnonymous UserPros: 1. The breakfast is indeed delicious, especially on the 1st floor, with a rich variety of Chinese and Western options. The latte tastes great and has beautiful latte art. Dining hours are from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Guests staying in Club rooms can also choose to have breakfast on the first floor. 2. The room size is quite generous, with a separate wet and dry area and a bathtub. I soaked my feet for three days and it was very comfortable. 3. The view from the sea-view room is excellent, with large floor-to-ceiling windows. The Ferris wheel is not far away, and the hotel is very close to the harbor in a straight line. You can watch the dusk and sunset, and the night view is also beautiful, with the large screen of the M+ Museum visible at night. 4. Most functions are fully electric (curtains are day-night blinds). 5. All toiletries are Bellman, which is very good. 6. The TV in the room couldn't cast content from mainland video apps like Tencent or iQiyi, but the hotel sent staff to resolve it. 7. The afternoon tea and snacks at the Club Lounge are good. The snacks can practically serve as dinner. Cons: 1. The price difference can be several hundred dollars depending on when you book, so it's worth comparing. 2. The official hotel information states check-in is available at 3 PM, but we arrived a little after 3 PM and didn't get our room card until 4 PM. The reason given was a high volume of guests and the hotel being unable to process rooms in time. (This is hard to rate). 3. On the third night, we switched to a Club room, but the room card given by the front desk was still invalid. (Also hard to rate). 4. The mattress had a slight indentation in the middle, making for a somewhat tiring sleep. 5. The toilet was old-fashioned, and the hairdryer was ancient; it felt older than the hotel itself. 6. The hotel's location in Wan Chai might not be the best choice for those who highly prioritize convenient transportation. Getting around mostly relies on public buses, and the bus stops are a bit of a walk. For navigation, Google Maps is recommended as Gaode and Baidu Maps are not accurate enough. 7. During our stay, the area around the hotel was undergoing renovation and construction, requiring a detour to get to the harbor. Fortunately, Wan Chai was really quiet during the National Day holiday, making it very chill. Tips: 1. For Club rooms, you need to transfer, first going to the 30th floor. 2. Although Club rooms (including breakfast) offer complimentary tea, coffee, and fruit all day, having them delivered to your room costs extra. A glass of watermelon juice and a latte cost nearly 200 HKD. Oh well, being poor is my fault. 3. A deposit of 3000 HKD is required for a three-night stay, payable via Alipay or cash.

2205767****The location is excellent, right across the street from Tin Hau MTR Station Exit A1, making transportation very convenient. You can even walk to Causeway Bay. Nearby, there's Tin Hau Temple and Victoria Park, and within a one-kilometer radius, there's a great selection of food. The room was clean; although the size can't compare to mainland hotels, it was perfectly adequate for two people. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was no impolite behavior towards guests from the mainland. When I checked in, they even offered to help with my luggage, which was a very comfortable experience.

GGuojiangTook my kids to Hong Kong to watch the Ronaldo Saudi Super Cup final. Saw it opened in '09 and decided to take a gamble on it. Turns out, it completely exceeded my expectations! A veteran five-star hotel truly is in a league of its own. As soon as we walked in, we saw a signed Ronaldo jersey – the atmosphere was incredible! Facilities: Even though it opened in '09, it's incredibly well-maintained. Cleanliness: Spotless, absolutely nothing to complain about. Environment: No weird smells at all, a pleasant surprise. Service: Excellent.

KKYO KUSANAGIMy stay at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel was, overall, very satisfying. Its location is undoubtedly its biggest asset; the hotel has a direct skybridge to Wan Chai MTR station, making Central just two stops away. The Golden Bauhinia Square and the Convention and Exhibition Centre are also within easy walking distance, ensuring incredibly efficient travel. The sea-view room I stayed in was truly the highlight. The panoramic Victoria Harbour views unfolded before my eyes all day long, from the sparkling waters and distant sails by day to the dazzling neon lights by night. It was captivating from dawn till dusk. Shopping is equally convenient. The hotel is directly connected to Pacific Place, home to numerous luxury brands. Causeway Bay's Times Square is a mere ten-minute walk away, and Tsim Sha Tsui's Harbour City is just one MTR stop away, catering to all shopping desires. With its unbeatable location as its core strength and its stunning sea views as its winning feature, this hotel is an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers exploring Hong Kong.

GGuest UserThe room was optimally sized , providing a comfortable balance of space and functionality. A larger smart TV was highlight, offering excellent entertainment options like you tube . GGuest UserGreat location, Wan Chai station entrance is just a short walk across the street and there’s bus stop in front of hotel. To go to airport, you need to go to another bus stop which is also a short walk from the hotel and most importantly, mostly flat so no worries about walking with your large luggage on slope. Even though my room was located on low floor and right in front of the lift, it’s not noisy. Bed are comfortable but pillows are too flat/low, needed 2 pillows. Toiletries was not provided due to HK government policy to reduce carbon footprint and the staff does inform during the check in process so make sure to bring your own toothbrush toothpaste vanity kit shavers and shower cap. No bottle water provided but there are water dispenser on 19th floor for guests to fill your own water bottle. Mini fridge and kettle are provided. Generally pleasant stay with lots of good food nearby.

GGuest UserPark Lane Hotel is an ideal location for me. Easy access to all amenities and even have supermarkets right at the door step especially during typhoon season that was god send i can honestly say. Specially shout out to couple of the “Doorman” Sony and Awatar they have been doing fantastic job and make you welcomed and wanting to come back to stay in this hotel again. Minor suggestion is that there are only handful of benches …. very uncomfortable even though every hotel is different but still believe they are need to put more attention to the guests experience. GGuest UserI recently stayed at Harbour Hella Inn for 2 weeks and overall, it was a unique experience. The hotel offers a modern and compact concept that is both practical and comfortable, making it suitable for both short and extended stays. One of the standout features of my stay was the exceptional service provided by the housekeeper. She was incredibly friendly and made sure I had fresh towels every day, which added a nice touch to the overall comfort of my stay. Additionally, I appreciated the thoughtful provision of house shoes—definitely a cozy bonus! The amenities available in the pod were quite convenient. Having a microwave and an electric stove made it easy to prepare simple meals, which is especially helpful for longer stays. The view from the hotel was another highlight; it was truly stunning and contributed to a pleasant atmosphere. However, I did encounter some issues during my stay. The customer service staff, while friendly, were slow to respond on WhatsApp, particularly during an unsettling incident involving a creepy man. It would have been reassuring to receive quicker assistance in that situation, as safety is a top priority for any guest. In summary, the hotel offers a unique and enjoyable experience with excellent housekeeping and nice amenities. Just be prepared for potential delays in customer service responsiveness. I would recommend it for those looking for a budget-friendly option with a great view, but I hope the management addresses the customer service aspect for future guests.
