Scandic Hønefoss

The hotel is in a good location, but the attitude of the hotel staff is rather bad. They are not friendly and do not help. Most of the guests in the hotel are on business trips, and the breakfast is very crowded. The Scandic series of hotels have small rooms and outdated facilities. They are not recommended for family travelers.

The staff was friendly and the rooms are spacious. There is no free parking.

Stayed there because the train ride was disrupted. Standard hotel, as I expect a standard hotel with standard norwegianhotel breakfast to be.

There are a lot of different views on what makes a good hotel. Some may prioritize the view from the room, the style of the rooms, the breakfast, or whether or not the hotel is new or has a rich history. As a man who travels a lot for work, I have learned to appreciate the clerks—the people who work at these hotels. And that can be vastly different from hotel to hotel. But rarely have I met a group of nicer people greeting you with a smile than at this hotel. Everything becomes pleasant at Scandic Hotel Hønefoss when you arrive at a hotel where the staff are always polite, warm, and helpful. Sometimes, I’ve experienced service beyond the call of duty that has amazed me. The rest of the hotel is fine too, especially in light of this. It has the standard Scandic quality: clean rooms, a nice breakfast, etc. There is coffee and tea available in the rooms, many rooms have a small fridge for food, and all in all, it has all the important things one expects from Norwegian hotels.

This hotel is older so the staff has those kinds of challenges. Unless you're really picky, it's fine. Breakfast was very good - plenty of options. Tons of gluten free choices for my mom. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The gym was decent for its size. Our only issue was that the rooms were hot at night. We opened our window but then had to deal with the sunlight (we stayed in June) and the road noise. Our families in two other rooms had the same issue. The hotel staff is very helpful and enthusiastic. My kids all liked the place a lot.
