Look, I get it. I'm part of Gen-X, and I realize this hotel brand was put together with primary input from focus groups with Millennials. From the name ("Tru", evoking feelings of "authenticity"), to the minimalist rooms (no drawers, no desk), it pretty much screams Millennial. But just because a brand "isn't for me" doesn't mean I can't have a reasonable stay. As a place to catch a shower, lay your head, get up early the next morning and hit the road, it works just fine. If you're looking for amenities beyond free parking and wireless, drive on. The room's fixtures and furnishings are minimal, and don't encourage unpacking. The AC in the first room didn't work, but after a brief discussion with the front desk (they were insistent that the thermostat was useless, and I should have used the window unit, despite the lack of controls on the window unit), I got a new room. The refrigerator was barely below room temp (more a product of the fridge model than maintenance). The room screams "average", but I added a star to mark it as "very good" because the room was clean. Bottom line, if you're just looking for a place for a temporary roof over your head, it'll work.
