In July 2024, I spent several days in this hotel. In general, I liked everything, except for some moments.
I'll start with the good: excellent location, opposite a supermarket, and nearby there are many shops and benches, a gorgeous view from the window of the ocean, decent breakfasts, a clean pool, the staff's willingness to help at any time, delicious dishes to order from the menu, well-groomed territory.
What I didn’t like: the rooms are already tired, they need updating, I lived in room 513. The pool is open until 19.00, which is not at all convenient, because after dinner you also want activity... but there is none)

This hotel is the worst welcoming I’ve ever experienced.
I never complain.
I was appalled by the welcome which was an interrogation.
I was then greeted by the police which was a bill I did not sign for. Was threatened with jail on the spot. I thought I was in a movie.
DO NOT BOOK OR STAY HERE.

Это лютый трэш! Никому не рекомендую останавливаться в данном отеле. Прибываю здесь прямо сейчас, это тихий ужас. Начнём с того что заселили в номер категории ниже чем оплачивал: оплачивал deluxe, заселили в standart. Все номера не ремонтировались много лет, и прибывают в плачевном состоянии. Но это пол беды. Заказывал отдых по системе "всё ключено": еды нормальной нет, от слова совсем! Есть ходим каждый день в рестораны рядом. Кормят просто помойкой. Раз в неделю бывает нормальная еда, но всё остальное время это просто корм для свиней. Если готовят на мангале то пережаренное всё в край. Готовят что-то более менее приличное, только когда в отеле есть местные, а это каждые выходные. Но и здесь есть минусы. Каждый заезд местных, это как спуск аборигенов с горы: все кричат, шумят, бьют в барабаны (да, они их привозят с собой), и в ресторане скапливается очередь, что просто не дойти до тарелки с едой. А если местные уезжают, то и еду нормальную не готовят. Подошёл на ресепшен узнать могут ли приготовить за отдельную плату, морепродукты которые я принесу с рыбного рынка. Меня отправили в ресторан, где я задал тот же вопрос. Там меня послали куда подальше. Даже отказали, что я за свои деньги приготовлю себе сам еду. Клиентоориентированность - нулевая. Отель ориентирован только на местное население, которое в выходные дни приезжает отдохнуть и делает им всю выручку. До иностранных туристов здесь нет никому никакого дела и вас будут всячески ущемлять. Территория отеля крохотная. Бассейн-лягушатник не выдерживает наплыва местных. Гулять по территории негде. В море захода нет. Как итог: отель " Citrus" одно из самых худших мест для отдыха в Хиккадуве, для отдыха рекомендую рассматривать другие варианты.

"My stay at citrus hikkaduwa was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the amenities exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the city, and the breakfast was a great start to each day. I highly recommend citrus hikkaduwa for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay and i would like to thanks for front desk staff really helpful. Thanks for the service once again.

We have spent 2 weeks at this hotel and I can honestly say we had a lovely time. The hotel is very clean and the staff make you feel really welcome. I probably would rate this hotel a good 3 star not 4 as advertised. It is on the beach but on a coral reef so pool shoes advised. My only few bad comment would be the food is not hot and lots of chipped glasses and crockery which need replacing. I would also like to thank Nuan and Chinthaka in the restaurant for making us really welcome and looked after. A big shout out to Roger who runs karaoke on Wednesday and Thursday nights too he even managed to get my husband up to sing. Overall the staff make this hotel a good place to stay.

It is a good hotel, which located in Hikkaduwa area. It also has a stunning view of the sea. I had a one-night stay with my wife. The sunset in the evening was stunning, and the balcony of my room provided a wonderful view. The rooms are clean, but they are not excellent. Morning breakfast buffet was good. There is a plethora of food options to choose from. In general, this is an excellent destination for a vacation.

We booked with Mercury Holidays and I have had a great service in the UK and from the two resort reps Ananda and Dexter. We booked the Ella trip with the train ride which I can highly recommend, we loved the trip. Our guide Sanka was wonderful I recommended you request Sanka. Well done Mercury I’m impressed. We arrived after a 7 hour delay in Abu Dhabi and on arrival the reception staff were welcoming and very efficient The room was large with the best sea view ever. The maid was the best. Everyday the room was spotless and he made little bed decorations, towels were changed everyday, excellent job. The waiters and bar staff are good and the food was satisfactory. I loved the pool Aqua and found it was a very good workout. The two pool attenders gave a 7 star service in all the hotels I have ever stayed this was the best. The moment I arrived at the pool a sun bed was selected and the towel laid out for me. The two pools guys deserve a pay rise. We used the Spa and can highly recommend it. Really good massage. Roger, did karaoke/ DJ evenings we really enjoyed, everyone got involved on these nights , they were great fun. Loved the live music in the evening, The beach is lovely golden sand and it’s a very short walk to an area where you can swim safely and it’s here that you can feed the turtles, amazing Overall fantastic value for money Sri Lanka is beautiful the people are lovely and the country has lots to offer.
