"A bit old and tired but brilliant location for the Sett Valley Trail. Walked the 3 miles to New Mills with the dog and back again. Pub is friendly with helpful staff. No evening meals or pub lunches but they do an amazing full English breakfast. Couldn’t eat it all and remained stuffed all day so saved on lunch! Dog friendly so all good. Busy with locals and all sports available on bar TV"

"Booked an overnight stay here for my Husband’s early Birthday treat. Beautifully clean room and hosts are friendly and welcoming. The fresh milk for the room was also a welcome addition. Sadly the parts that let it down was a hard mattress resulting in a very sore back in the morning. The shower pressure was very low. I didn’t realise upon booking that dogs are allowed to stay in the rooms and the one which was there started to bark loudly at 6.30am then continued on and off for the next half hour which meant no sleep after 6.30am. Breakfast is served in a seperate little building which is very beautifully laid out and breakfast was plentiful and very good quality. Plenty of tea and fresh coffee too. The location is very remote so a car is necessary if you wish to visit any local pubs or restaurants. There was snowfall overnight and it was a little difficult getting off the sloped driveway of the hall."

"We stayed here on our way back from Scotland. The room was comfortable and old fashioned but in a nice way as it set the scene for the area. We had an amazing view of the hills from our room window which was nice just to sit and look out at. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. The host was very friendly and helpful. Only downside was we were in a room near the road and it was karaoke night. We heard Angels by Robbie Williams numerous times and the people who were outside in the little patio area were not very quiet. Would recommend but try and get a room on the other side. Hopefully it is quieter."

"just spent NYE and NYD here. Absolutely faultless. Staff and management were brilliant, from arrival to departure. Accommodation was immaculate. Comfy king size bed and hotel quality linen. Heating in room was self controlled and totally adequate. Arrived back to inn on second day to find an ice bucket with Prosecco and Appletise along with a snack ,, nice touch ! Inside the inn we were met by a roaring log fire , friendly locals and first class staff. Even at breakfast the fire was roaring. The evening menu was scrumptious along with a comprehensive wine selection. Breakfast was fabulous,being asked to choose the evening before ( best way in my opinion). Was reluctant to leave as the weather was closing in , even caught a snow flurry but promised that we’d revisit as soon as the spring arrives! A BIG thank you to all at the Inn 👍"
